  1. Well then that AD staffer is doing a disservice to the school by giving out information like that. And the reason that they get pi$$ed when you give out names is that they are doing something that they shouldn't be doing by giving medical information on a student athlete. Just let Dodge and co. put the info out there through the proper channels and then we'll get all of the info at that time.
  2. Maybe Deloach found that the grass isn't always greener(pun intended) at higher profile schools(UCLA). It would be a coup if we could sign him.
  3. Here are some interesting options: Alonzo Lee(Morgan State): http://www.morganstatebears.com/roster.asp...10&sport=29 John Loose(Lafayette): http://goleopards.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl...ose_john00.html Ed Lynette(Iona): http://www.icgaels.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SP...p;Q_SEASON=2007 John Hendrick(South Carolina State): http://www.scsuathletics.com/bio.asp?staffid=6 Kraig Paulson(Montana): http://www.montanagrizzlies.com/content/co...tball/hauck.htm
  4. From the Fort Worth Star Telegram: UNT in market for DC When it came down to honest evaluation, North Texas coach Todd Dodge apparently couldn't deny his defense needed a change at the top. UNT plans to announce sometime today that defensive coordinator Ron Mendoza has been fired. UNT ranked near the bottom of most defensive categories in the Bowl Subdivision this season and experienced several late-game collapses that -- fairly or unfairly -- left Mendoza the subject of much direct criticism most of the season. Dodge brought Mendoza and three other coaches from the high school ranks when UNT hired him a little over a year ago. The lack of defensive production despite several returning starters or experienced backups tested Dodge's loyalty to Mendoza, who faced a possible demotion to a position coach. In the end, Dodge for whatever reason felt it was better to part ways despite the difficulty in doing so. In addition to defensive coordinator, Dodge needs a new cornerbacks coach to replace Butch LaCroix, who resigned last month to return to the sports-marketing industry. Dodge heads to the national coaches' convention in the next few days, where he'll target some DC candidates. His days of hiring high school coaches, for now, appear over, and don't count on anyone from the current staff being promoted. --Troy Phillips
  5. It's all about the revenue that can be generated from sky boxes/suites.
  6. Every one who shows up to the game and stays until the end gets their name in a raffle. Winners get to travel with the team to Western Kentucky, go on the field after the game and tell their coach to get their team of the f^*#@ing field.

  9. Do you even read before you hit the "add reply" button. Seriously, stick with soccer. If you think Dodge needs to go then you need help.

  11. http://meangreen.beloblog.com/ Football recruiting update -- Cato off the board This is the time of year when every college program in the country starts to see some of its top targets in recruiting commit to other schools. UNT has won more than its share of battles early, but lost one today to Iowa, which picked up a commitment from safety David Cato. The Mansfield Summit senior was among the highest rated safeties holding an offer from UNT, at least according to the popular Web sites that cover college football recruiting. UNT already has a good safety prospect on board in Vernon's Darien Williams, but could use more help. Three of the Mean Green's top four safeties are seniors, including Aaron Weathers, arguably the best player on the Mean Green's defense.
  12. Gilmore was in for Burruss. Go back and check the TIVO. The announcers stated several times that Burruss better get healthy soon or he was gonna lose his job.
  13. Let's look at the play. 1. Good play call. It shows a great deal of trust in Vizza to get the job done. Alot of bad things can happen in the end zone, penalty for safety, takle for safety, fumble for TD, etc etc...That quick out SHOULD give us a little breathing room with the ball at about the five yard line. 2. Good blocking by the line to keep the heat off of Vizza. 3. Fitz makes a solid catch and I would call it 50/50. Half of a good play by Fitz to slip the tackle and half of bad technique by the DB. 4. Stick makes a great block and Fitz does a great job in following it to break out. If any of these things doesn't happen, then the play breaks down so there is plenty of praise to go around.
  14. I was one that called the D-line out earlier in the season but I can say that they made me eat my words with their performance on Saturday. They had great pressure all night. They really seemed to be getting their hands up to knock balls down and they were generally a menace all night long. Kudos on their performance
  15. My question to you YYZ is: If the defense finishes the season ranked 65-75 in the nation in total defense will you be calling for Mendoza's head? If your answer is no, then why don't you just give him the full season to see where this thing hashes out. If your answer is yes, than I just don't know what to say to you.
  16. Burruss had an ankle injury. I am curious to see if he gets his job back once he is healthy.
  17. I hope nobody goes and shoots a half-cocked question about the "incident" on Saturday. Let TD, the coach in question, RV, and and FFR handle it. If TD chooses to address it on his own, so be it, but please do not try to stir the pot.
  18. http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...;ATCLID=1280734 Mean Green Win Sixth Straight With 2-0 Victory DENTON, Tex. (10/14/07) – At this pace there might be any records left to break for the North Texas women’s soccer team. The Mean Green methodically dispatched of South Alabama 2-0 at the NT Soccer Field to improve to 12-2, the best start in school history. The win is the Mean Green’s sixth straight as North Texas remains perfect at home (8-0) and in Sun Belt Conference play (6-0). Junior Brittany Cleveland scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season in the 9th minute of play. Freshman Janaye Woods set up Cleveland when she found her way through the South Alabama defense and had her initial shot deflected right to Cleveland. Freshman goalkeeper Mandy Hall made two saves critical following the Mean Green’s goal to keep the Jaguars (7-5-2, 2-3-1) off the board. The first half remained tight throughout as the Mean Green (12-2, 6-0) carried a 1-0 lead into the break. After the break was a different story as North Texas was in command for the entire 45 minutes. North Texas extended its lead to 2-0 in the 50th minute of play when Cleveland was fouled in the box setting up a penalty kick. Kendall Juett buried the shot low on the left side for her seventh goal of the season. The Mean Green outshot the Jaguars 14-4 in the second frame. Hall made seven saves on the afternoon to notch her second career shutout. The Mean Green now faces a daunting four-game road trip beginning next Friday against UALR.
  19. Here's the big difference. The coach gets paid by the university to do what he does. Rick GIVES his time, devotion, and money to the university.
  20. http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...;ATCLID=1279632 North Texas Makes It Five Straight With 3-0 Win DENTON, Tex. (10/12/07) – Seeing Brittany Cleveland and Janaye Woods find the back of the net is becoming a common occurrence this season and it was again Friday night as the North Texas women’s soccer team rolled past Troy 3-0 at the NT Soccer Field. Cleveland and Woods both had a goal and an assist as the Mean Green (11-2, 5-0) extended its winning streak to five straight games. It took until the 32nd minute of the first half for the nation’s second best offense to get on the board. Sophomore Lauren Shockey got things going with her first career goal. Shockey fired a shot from 25 yards out from the top of the box that ricocheted off the crossbar and then off of Trojan goalkeeper Karla Smith and into the net. Woods made it 2-0 North Texas in the 39th minute of play she got behind the Troy defense off a feed from Cleveland. North Texas put the game out of reach early in the second half when Cleveland’s goal made it 3-0. Woods took a pass from Hutyra to the right side and then fed it across to Cleveland for an easy tap in. Freshman Mandy Hall made her second straight start in goal for the Mean Green and made two saves. The best Trojan (4-9, 1-4) chance came in the 26th minute when Laura Hopson fired a shot from 12 yards out that Hall stopped. The Mean Green outshot the Trojans 28-3. North Texas is back in action on Sunday afternoon against South Alabama at 1 p.m.
  21. http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...;ATCLID=1274944 Soccer Back At Home Looking To Extend Winning Streak DENTON, Tex. (10/12/07) – The red-hot North Texas soccer team is back at home this weekend for two matches beginning tonight with a battle against the Troy Trojans. The Mean Green has won four straight games and is a perfect 6-0 at home this season. At 10-2 North Texas has matched its best record through 12 games. Only one other time the Mean Green has been 10-2 and that was a decade ago in 1997. The best mark in school history through 13 games is 11-2, which the Mean Green can match with one more win. North Texas is 4-0 in league play for the fourth time in since joining in the Sun Belt in 2000. After a two week absence, North Texas has played its way back into the Central Region Top 15. The Mean Green check in at 14th this week after receiving votes the past two. Of the 15 teams that are ranked and three that are receiving votes, North Texas has the most wins with 10 and only No. 1 Texas and No. 5 LSU have fewer losses. The North Texas offense continues to be the most potent in the league and now is nearing the top in the nation. The Mean Green is second nationally in goals with 41 and closing the gap on Florida State. North Texas is averaging 3.42 goals a game while the Seminoles are at 3.83 a game with 46. Freshman Janaye Woods and Brittany Cleveland are tied for 19th nationally with nine goals. Woods is tied for third nationally when it comes to goals by freshman. Kendall Juett is fourth in the nation in assists with nine. North Texas faces South Alabama on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. from the North Texas Soccer Field.

  23. Dude, you just admitted to knowing the name of one of their cd's. I would not have been so bold.
  24. If you want to talk about devious. How about Sandy Berger stealing classified documents to cover his old pal Billy-Boy when the 9/11 commission came to town. BTW: Gore and Clinton were howling about WMD's as loud as anybody and about the danger Saddam posed to the world.
