  1. That is sobering news and as the cliche goes, puts everything into perspective. My prayers are with you for comfort and peace for you and your entire family.
  2. Smokey, this is not 'Nam. This is bowling. There are rules.

  3. This is a guy on the 4th ranked all-sports station in a 3 station market. We are giving him exactly what he wants. Listeners.
  4. Just because we line someone up outside of the tackle with his hand on the ground doesn't make him Jason Witten or Dallas Clark. Tightends for the past thee years have been there to block so give that arguement a rest. We could line Cole or Outlaw up tight but wouldn't make them tight ends either. Deloach HAD to run zone 99% of the past two seasons because we simply didn't have the speed to play man. The more talent we get, the more man we will play. Why do you think we are signing so many db's and linebackers that have experience in JUCO. BTW: Dodge piled up those offensive numbers against an SBC schedule. Canales against a BCS schedule. Same letters, big difference.
  5. He likes to drink Cold Cocked Malt Liquor. It's Damn Good!
  6. Whoosh. That's the sound of North Texas passing us by... Wait, that's just a bad habit.
  7. http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/ Vito's sources say it's a done deal.
  8. Vito reports that South Garland Safety Will Wright Jr has committed to the Mean Green over an offer from UTEP.
  9. Wow the pages and topics load at light speed on my iPhone compared with the old site. Me likey.
  10. So when do the updates take effect? My iPhone thanks you.
  11. I beleive it is being televised by the SEC Football Network. ESPN has a partnership with the network to broadcast some of the games. Not sure if the Pourhouse has that network or if ESPN Regional will pick it up(i.e channel 27, 52, or 21 in DFW).
  12. A six pack of Shasta, 14 episodes of Murder She Wrote on Beta, a slightly used prosthetic thumb, and a giant can of whup A$$.
  13. Basing it on a statement made on the BSU board that they paid us to come there. If it is on the interweb it HAS to be true right?
  14. And to top it off, Ball State paid us $175 G's to give them a whippin. It's nice to get a paycheck AND a win.
  15. What I really liked was when Riley slid at the end of a run at the sideline in the 4th quarter to keep himself from going out of bounds. That kept the clock rolling after they reset the sticks. Very heads-up play.
  16. I just wanted to say thanks to all of the Ball State Fans for their class leading up to this game. To the few who came to this board and to the many many fans on the BSU site, Thank You. Your look-a-like thread was great and never got out of line. Your fans actually talked about why you thought you would beat us with well thought out explanations instead of hitting below the belt. First class all the way.
  17. I would like to be among the first to eat a giant helping of crow. I predicted a Ball State victory 41-14. I WAS WRONG. VERY WRONG. I based it on the last two years and this team IS NOT the team of the last two years. The first year I take off the green glasses and we really do shock BSU on the road. Way to go Mean Green. I couldn't be more proud of you. GMG!!! Beat OhiWho!!!
  18. Just saw the re-air of the iterview. I have seen quite a few of the interviews and this was one of the best by far. TD seems upbeat about the team this year and seems to be taking Rodge along slowly so as not to overexpose him too early. Todge stated that he thinks that we have quite a few playmakers on offense for Rodge to distribute to. The announcers really talked Rodge up. They also stated that the Mean Green fans expect alot from the team this year. It is really great to hear NT talked about on a national sports network and not just local tv. I just learned today(thanks Shutter) that ESPNU was added to the XTRA package on DirecTV. This means that alot more people will now have access to ESPNU and quite a few more households will be able to see NT on Thursday night. My college sports pants are going crazy now that I can watch ESPNU.
  19. For Once in my life I am taking the green glasses off and putting the Kool-Aid down. I go into each season dreaming of big upsets and the "if everything goes our way" scenarios. I can't do it this year. I just don't have the will to get gut-punched again. I will take the realistic approach. Ball State is coming off a 12-2 bowl season in which they were a top 25 team. Although they lost a great deal of their talent along the line and at QB, they are still a good football team. They are at home and are jacked up to show that the prognosticators are wrong about their 2009 team. Although I think our defense is improved this year with the experience factor and JC additions, let's not forget that the "improvement" is to a defense that was at the very bottom of college football the last two years. Our offense lost the top two receivers and is starting a RS freshman quarterback in Rodge. Don't get me started on the special teams coverage units and where BSU may be starting their drives. I really think we will be an improved team this year and could win 4 - 5 games if things go right(see I did it again) I just don't think we have the ammo to beat BSU at home. BSU 41 NT 14 GMG!!! Beat Balls!!!
  20. fixed. My bad.
  21. http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...TCLID=204768107 http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...TCLID=204768281 Part 3 should be tomorrow.
  22. Here are the keys to the season. 1. Redshirt freshmen quarterbacks usually struggle their first year out. Rodge has two advantages over most of the others; He has been running this offense since he was a fetus. He was able to see the speed of a few live college games last year as a receiver. I think the later will help him immeasurably. 2. If Stratford gets NCAA clearance to play then our current receiving corps will instantly be about twice as good. Having Rucker back helps as well. 3. Deloach has had a full year to install the defense and the boys will not be learning on the fly this year. Things will be done more on instinct and reaction this season. 4. A dedicated strength coach for the football team can only help with the conditioning of the team. It will pay off most in the 4th quarter. If you haven't seen it yet. I encourage you to go to meangreensports.com and view the interview with our new strength coach. He is impressive. 5. We have a schedule that contains only 1 bodybag game. This is a very friendly schedule that can pay dividends. All that said. If we can win 5 games I would consider the season a success after the long nightmare we have all been through.
  23. hmmmm. 8 of the 19 suites have been committed to and the development staff is confident that the remaining 9 will be sold before the opening of the new stadium. Mathletes they are not. I know it is nitpicky but really?

  25. I tell myself every year that we are gonna have things break the right way and it will be a great year. This will be our year, we are really gonna take off and wake up the giant. Folks, that giant is drunker then Cooter Brown and it's gonna take a hell of a lot to wake him up anytime soon. I can't stand the disappointment of dreaming of knocking off (insert body-bag game here) only to have the dream shot down infinity to 6. Hell, lately I have dreamt of NT knocking off Cubscout troop 467 but I think that would have been a stretch last year. I want us to have a winning record but I just fininshed an extensive stint at Betty Ford and I am currently taking a course of methadone to get me off of the kool-aid. I have binged every year since 1994. From February to August I've been on the kool-aid and my liver just can't take it anymore. I think I will go into this year with a clear head. I will say 3-9 and I think that may be a stretch. I think Ohio, La-Mo, and WKU will be wins and that is if everything goes our way in those games.
