  1. No. Not even if he coached for free.
  2. No to the triple option. If you think we can't a QB now just wait til we regress 40 years in offensive philosophy. We need to go with the trend in offense not against it. High schools run the spread now. High school players know how to run it. Coaches know how to coach it.
  3. Too old. Stopped recruiting QBs at UT and that eventually cost him his job. We don't need another retread to show off his NC ring that the most dynamic college QB in years won him. We need a young hungry coach.
  4. 1. Mac, and any other coach that didn't graduate from UNT, do not have any loyalty to this university. Their motivation is their wallet and their resume. Let's not get this mixed up. We all graduated here and will ALWAYS be Mean Green. Coaches are journeymen hired guns. Look at ANY coach on Wiki and you will see the myriad of schools they have gone through. It's the nature of the job. 2. DSmith has had 1st team reps for half a week and presented more skill and potential then Mini did in 1 1/2 years of 1st team reps. He is dynamic and brings genuine excitement to the position. I have NEVER been excited to see Mini on the field. 3. I feel truly sorry for Dajon that he didn't get his shot here. Mac should have stuck with him and let him take his lumps and improve. It really is a shame. 4. I don't really believe Chico thinks that DSmith wasn't ready until this week. He just doesn't want to hurt Mac any more than he is already hurting. 5. We only have DSmith for one more year. We need to get a coach here yesterday because we need to recruit a HS quarterback for the future now now now. 6. The WKU 2nd teamers on defense are better than most of our starters. Not a slam just reality.
  5. Now? We have been the laughing stock for a while.
  6. The thing that excites me is that his strengths(arm strength, running ability, and escapability) are ones you can't coach. They are natural and innate. His weak areas(release point, footwork, and ball protection) are all VERY coachable. He will now go from very few reps as the 3rd team QB to getting the lions share as the 1st team QB. That in and of itself is huge huge huge. Listen, I don't wanna get ahead of myself because we will undoubtably see our share of huh moments from D Smith this year. He will have growing pains. He will make mistakes. But I think he will also make have some holy $hit moments(in a good way). The Hail Mary before the half and the Tony Romo run for his life when he hit Carlos for the first down late in the game. Those were two of the most exciting plays I have seen in a long time. Buckle up cause it's gonna be a fun ride.
  7. Talk about teachable moments. He will have plenty to learn from during film review. He is young and he will learn and improve. Saw him throw his hands up after a few plays like he didn't know the play or where he was supposed to be. He will learn though.
  8. Really great arm strength. He has a lot of zip on the ball when on the run both the right and the left. He seems to almost be more comfortable throwing on the run than setting up in the pocket. He is a real threat to run the ball which gives this offense another dimension. Teams will have to respect that aspect of his game. He looks very decisive on his runs. He has great escapability and a knack for feeling the pressure. He has some very correctable errors in his throwing motion. His release point needs work as he throws some both hi and low when he sets up in the pocket. He gets excitable and needs to calm down and play more controlled. He needs to work on ball protection. Needs to recognize where the linebackers are on zone read. Again, the downside to his game is all easily correctable, coach able, and will come with more reps.
  9. Ashton Preston. He is playing exactly as you would expect a freshman to play.
  10. Bingo Just remember Scott Hall's first season. He made plenty of mistakes and people wondered why in the world he kept his starting job. He took his lumps and grew into a great QB. Chico just needs to stick with him and let him grow. Interceptions, fumbles, etc... are secondary right now. Learning is the most important part.
  11. Now even Chip Kelly is making fun of us. FML
  12. If this is for the social media ban then Chico has an easy out. All he has to say is that Carlos tweeted before he told the players and started the ban. Easy way to let one of your best players play.
  13. Lets just remember that there will probably be speed bumps along the way. But for the first time in a while, I have some hope with our QB situation.
  14. Good lord. We are arguing over Dickey vs Dodge. That's like arguing over whether Justin Bieber or One Direction is worse for tasteful music. We could prop up the corpse of Theron Fouts and win more games then those two. Shoot me now.
  15. WKU 52 UNT 20
  16. Unless there are suspensions handed out however long or short, then he is not serious or has COMPLETELY lost the team in 5 days which may be a new record for a program that is racking up dubious records.
  17. Look, unless Carlos is suspended for whatever amount of time. Be it first series, first half, whole game, whatever... Then we know either Chico's ban means NOTHING or some players just don't care about the ban and/or whatever rules Chico has imposed. It makes the University look pathetic(if we could possibly look any more pathetic at this stage) and means the inmates are running the asylum. If Chico is serious then we better either see some players sit or hear an explanation of what social media ban means. I'm tired of this program looking 2nd rate.
  18. Uhh so can we hire the chick in your picture. She is QUALIFIED.
  19. Sounds to me like some assistants took some liberties they should not have and Thomsen took full responsibility for their actions. Can't say all coaches(cough cough Larry Brown) do the same.
  20. A friend of mine played for Chris Thomsen at ACU. Said he is a guy that lets his assistants do their jobs and coach. Said he ran the spread, pro-set, essentially whatever his talent allowed him to run on offense. He is also a coach that will not tolerate bad behavior from his players.
