  1. Just where do you propose we use OUR money? How are we crapping on Smatresk and Ryan? We are simply voicing our displeasure with their employee RV. What do you mean by "they are not going to like it". Just what are they going to do? Is that a not so veiled threat on their behalf? Rest assured, keeping RV in place is a middle finger that was raised some time ago. Why would it be crazy. I would hope the gifts are to UNT and not to RV. Am I wrong here?
  2. You can also add losing to provisional 1A USF AND provisional 1A UAB both at home. I wouls also throw in losing to a ranked Montana team at home in 1994. Ran out of time in their redzone on an untimed last play.
  3. This makes me wonder how the old timers have put up with incompetence and mismanagement(over several regimes) for so so long. I have only been following the program since 1994. I shudder to thing what it is like to give 40, 50, 60 years of your life to this and see disappointment time and time again.
  4. The tenor of the post just seemed that way. No harm, no foul. Things do change, and they do so drastically, when the record is broken and plays the same sad song over and over and over again.
  5. It needs to be a clean break. If the administration thinks that whatever future AD candidate cannot outraise RV then we probably shouldn't consider him. We also can't have the administration let 10, 15, 17, whatever hold the department hostage. If all 17 say they are leaving if RV leaves and Neal caves then we are doomed. We will be forever beholden to the 17.
  6. I want to be clear. RV absolutely deserves credit for certain things that were accomplished during his tenure(athletic center, athletic village, Title 9 compliance). He ALSO deserves blame for things that didn't go so well(coaching hires, MGC enrollment, too many instances of the average fan being $hit on in interactions with RV and his staff for me to count). I am not out for blood and an erasing of RV's athletic department existence. I am out for kaizen. I am out for accountability from the administration. I am out for the powers that be to stop throwing good money after bad. I am out for not being the butt of jokes on national sports outlets.
  7. I just want a variation of the spread that actually has 2 elements that Dodge didn't. 1. Lets really use the tight end. I mean REALLY use him, not just as an occasional decoy. 2. Lets get the QB under center when we need to. It was the height of stupidity when we had the ball at the 1 yard line on 3rd or 4th down under Dodge and we lined up in shotgun. On defense we need to be realistic that we won't have the speed we need in the defensive backfield for a while and we will likely continue to offer 10-12 yard cushions to the opposing wide receivers. But once we have the recruits we need then I would like to see a base 4-3. We don't need to be exotic on D we just need to have a scheme that shows multiple fronts and disguises our blitzes well. Remember how hard OU was laughing at Dodges defense because it was so easy to read.
  8. My issue is that if he is in the department he will have a say in the hiring. This hire is too important to let that be the case.
  9. I simply don't want RV to have ANY input into this coaching hire. None zero zilch.
  10. I think that what the administration is telling us by continuing to employ RV is that the university is ok with mediocrity in the revenue sports. That is what should scare everyone. Because when the next round of realignment happens(and it will happen), conferences WILL look at our records in the revenue sports along with our attendance figures. With the continued apathy in the athletic department and administration we may very well get left in the dust in the next round.
  11. What do you mean "getting ready"? They're Usain Bolt and we are Anderson Silva just after he broke his leg in the ring.
  12. Wing-T on offense AND defense. Nobody would see it coming.
  13. He would have inroads to the talent base in East Texas. He has turned around A&M Commerce in short order. Should be interviewed at the very least.
  14. The thing that I notice the most is this: 1. There are a few on the board that are very vocal about replacing RV and have been vocal for some time now. They want RV gone at all costs. 2. There are a few on the board that are very vocal in their support for RV and have been vocal for some time now. They will defend RV to the point of making themselves look silly, thus defeating their purpose. 3. The majority of the board lies somewhere in the middle of these two extremes. The key takeaway is that those that are in the middle are becoming louder and louder in their sentiment to replace RV. THAT is what should concern RV at this point. Regardless of how we display that sentiment(banners, letters to the president, butts in seats, donations, etc...), our voices need to be heard loud and clear. Anyone who thinks that doing nothing will gain results is fooling themselves and that goes for those in group 1 AND group 2. To those in group 2, if you feel so strongly that RV needs to stay then fly your own banner, bake him a cake, send him a candygram that says I wub U. But don't berate those who chose to take action(anonymously or not) for a cause they deem important to the present and future of this university.
  15. Then we need to hire Jeff Rodgers away from the Bears.
  16. If RV hires someone in line with who I think we should hire and seems to be a good fit then I will let the results speak for themselves good or bad. I will not immediately pronounce it disastrous. I think that should be the norm. However, I am skeptical that RV will make the right kind of hire. That said, for posterity, Here is who I think we should hire. 1A. An offensive coordinator form a productive offense that has experience in that role that also has ties to Texas and is a strong recruiter. or 1B. A head coach from an FCS/D2 winning program that also has ties to Texas and is a strong recruiter.
  17. Art Briles and Gary Patterson disagree. Let me be clear, I want a young hungry coach as well, but I don't think a coach over 50 has been a barrier to Baylor or TCU
  18. If the coach fails then, yes because he is PAID to make those decisions. I, and everyone else on the board, ARE NOT paid to do this.
  19. The takeaway that mattered to me is that Chico is starting Ashton Preston again. There will be lumps but experience means everything,. Good for you Chico.
  20. It's a vicious cycle. After this next disaster he will say he wants a defensive minded coach with some skins on the wall. He keeps putting the turd between two slices of white bread and we just keep on eating it.
  21. RV also wants his water to contain just the right mix of hydrogen and oxygen.
  22. I couldn't agree more. I think Fritz will get better offers than UNT. It's a sad reality but unless we money whip him he will probably tell us thanks but no thanks.
