  2. The only plus to not having a coach before 12/16 is that we will likely have very few JUCO transfers. You build a program through high school recruits especially with the talent we have in our own back yard. The only JUCO I want to see is a top flight QB.
  3. http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/2015/11/auburn_overlooked_running_man.html#incart_article_small "Horton certainly seems like head coaching material. He's easily approachable and is a hit on the booster club circuit, where he hobnobs with donors and loves to mingle." "I believe in running the football just like coach Malzahn believes in running the football," he said. "I think what we do at Auburn is terrific. I do think this, though, for any head coaching job: in a certain sense you've got to tailor it to fit that school. For example, I spent seven seasons coaching at the Air Force Academy, I worked with Fisher DeBerry, who is a College Football Hall of Famer. Great man, great coach. I don't know if our system here at Auburn would work at Air Force. I think at Air Force you probably need to run the triple option. I think that's the offense that gives you the best chance to win, because to be honest, athletically, you're probably going to be out-athleted most Saturdays. I think you do have to tweak it to the school that you're at but I love what we do at Auburn. If and when I'm a head coach, that's what I'll do."
  4. The Mac press conference was on November 30th which was the Tuesday after the last game of our season. I think the name leaked on the night of the last game of the season though. If memory serves me I think Urban Meyer was asked about the rumor in his post game presser or possibly Sunday the 28th.
  5. Not to put a damper on anything but we didn't hear about Dodge until I believe December 10th so patience is a virtue. This week will probably entail a few leaks of names. We could see a name as early as Saturday night and as late as mid December.
  6. Jinks would be a good pick and is probably in line with what we can expect to garner interest from at this point. He was highly successful as a high school head coach and has been a running backs coach for a P5 school for the last three years which fits the logical progression model. We could triple his salary and still have plenty of cash to throw st some good coordinators. I still want to know what his offensive philosophy is and if it mirrors the wide open Tech offense or if that just happens to be the offense he coaches under. Let's also not forget that the resume list from Vito also includes one mystery name that was not included. The finalists could also include a coach that didn't send a resume but has been interviewed.
  7. I would be happy with Meacham as the choice because he is the one who calls the plays for TCU even though he is listed as co-offensive coordinator with Cumbie. To me that is much more responsibility than Cumbie. Meacham also has more experience in coaching then Cumbie as well.
  8. Go home Vegas odds-makers. You're drunk!
  9. Agreed. I think that Jinks can be successful here at UNT as he is taking the same path as Briles did at Tech before taking the head coaching job at a G5 school. I was commenting more on VE's comment that Briles worked out for Baylor. I just want to know If Jinks buys into the Air Raid concept or he is just a running backs coach at a school that happens to run a wide open offense. I am more interested in what Mike Jinks' offensive and defensive philosophies are rather than what he happens to coach now.
  10. Apples to oranges. Briles had 5 years experience as a college head coach at Houston before going to Baylor. Jinks has no college head coaching or coordinating experience. Jinks has a total of 3 years as a position coach. Now if you want to compare Briles success at Houston to Jinks coming here that's more apples to apples as Briles had 3 years as Techs RB coach before going to Houston. That is a comparison I can get behind. Briles needed 3 years at each school before he got Houston and Baylor rolling. That is a testament to his recruiting and how important recruiting is.
  11. It won't affect our pickins' at all. The kind of coach LSU would hire wouldn't even consider UNT. Les is headed to a P5. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at either USC. I would also not be surprised to see him at UT if Charlie Strong leaves. It could even be two ships passing in the night with Strong to LSU and Miles to UT.
  12. Just win baby. I don't want a coach that is rigid in his system and stubborn enough to try to run HIS scheme regardless of the personnel. I want a coach who is a tireless recruiter. I want a coach who believes that UNT can win CUSA every year. I want a coach who is disappointed each week we aren't in the top 25. I want a coach who finds it unacceptable to have less than a sellout every week and then does something about it when we don't . I want a coach who is willing to run ANY offense or defense to fit our talent.
  13. Who's obsessed with who? You keep coming here to our board. Your win just solidifies another few years with Larry " Retirement Home" Coker while we go get a young dynamic coach that will shoot us light years past nUTSAck. Eat an organ.
  14. We beat them in Denton in 2003. The score was 52-14 and it wasn't even that close. That was a good night.
  15. A quote from the article "Villarreal and UNT officials have spent the last few weeks traveling to interview candidates for the job, including at least one whose resume was not included in the information the school provided in response to the FOI request."
  16. Remember, there is a candidate not listed. Let the speculation begin.
  17. No question they will deny deny deny. It's all part of the dance.
  18. MUTS 34 UNT 13 MUTS are playing for a bowl game and they are at home. We hate each other. They will be fired up.
  19. Brett: "Aldo, What do you think UNTs chances are on Saturday?" Aldo:
  20. If you are in Tyler, Montreal, or China you can watch the game. If you tune in early enough you can catch the MTSU march to the stadium.
