Got A Guess How Many Years The New Coach Gets?
Eagle-96 replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Contract should be for 4 years with a hefty buyout clause if he leaves. If we have, by all accounts, 2 coaches that both want to be here then asking for a $500K buyout if the coach leaves for a P5 isn't too much to ask. -
If you are winning and your offense is scoring then TOP is less relevant. Where it does come into play is how much you expose your defense. That is one problem with up-tempo spread teams. The offense either scores quickly or gets off the field quickly, thus exposing the defense to alot of time on the field. That was a major issue we faced under Dodge that led to our defense getting rung up.

To me it's more likely that any bargaining overtures are coming from TCU in the realization that they may lose both of the OCs. Meacham would be a moron to not at least listen to what Patterson has to say. I'm not sure I would want someone coaching our team that is not smart enough to listen to what Patterson has to say. I think Cumbie is waiting on what Meacham decides and then the dominoes fall. You have to know that Cumbie is praying that Meacham tells us yes because he could then write his figure on the contract from UT or TCU.
-
RV sez: "Yaaaaawwwwwwnnnnnn, I get people to give us over-sized novelty checks at the halftime of football games. Attendance doesn't matter around here, at least not for 27 more months."
-
IMO: If Meacham tells us no then Cumbie bolts to UT to become the lone OC and Meacham stays as the lone OC at TCU. If Meacham tells us yes then Cumbie can get into a bidding war between UT and TCU for his services.
-
More likely meacham has been weighing the pros and cons with his family. Patterson may have swooped in to make a last ditch effort to keep Meacham if Cumbie looks to be gone. This doesn't smell like Meacham leverage to me.

footballscoop.com is reporting that North Texas has become central to the coaching market with other dominoes to fall depending what we decide. Zach Barnett reports that Meacham is considering the UNT job and a decision could come as early as tonight or tomorrow morning. IMO it looks like the job is there for Meacham to take if he wants it.

Sidway is stating that: Litrell's camp think Littrell is the favorite. Meacham's camp thinks Meacham is the favorite. IMO: We could very well have a tentative yes from both and RV and Neal are ironing out $$$ and who fits better. If we don't strike however, we may be left with neither. GET THIS DONE He is an alum and works for the Ticket radio.

Depends on if the coaches contract is up or not. Also coaches generally do not stand in the way of people getting promotions.

I think what the refs saw was a thrust infraction which doesn't necessitate having both feet off of the ground. Regardless the defender should have his head on a swivel and be aware of his surroundings at all times. You can't simply lock onto the ball carrier in that situation. Field awareness is a pee wee league fundamental. Immediately after the hit he started bowing up and clinching his fists in excitement. That tells me he was only interested in how hard he hit the player, not that he made a good block that helped his team. He was all about Carlos right there. Then, the post infraction reaction on the sideline was sorry. Go back and look at the tape, Carlos was anticipating the ejection and looked almost excited that he got kicked out. He grins and laughs and jumps up and down. Look at me everyone. Laughing and running off the field. It was all about Carlos. I just wish he would have represented UNT with more class than that. How about hugging some teammates, apologizing to your coach for putting the team in that position and then walking off the field.

How ironic it would be if the last donations RV procured were the ones used to buy him out.
-
It is what we did with Dodge. He was announced but continued to coach Southlake Carroll in the playoffs.
-
It took Mac from December 1 hire date until January 10 to complete his first staff. Hopefully the new coach will have the staff complete pretty quick so he they can recruit.
-
Meaning he starts Saturday
-
It's not dragging out. The time frame has always been Mon - Tues announcement.
-
Dino Babers is heading to UCF as per 247sports
-
I see it the same way Dodge lived in Southtlake. Mac lived in Denton. Both sucked.

Justin Fuente Matt Campbell Jeff Brohm Doc Holliday Rod Carey All successful coaches. It can, and has, been done. Don't just write off the head coach before he has even been hired. RV makes it tough for any head coach, but it CAN be done here. I hope we are doing this again in 4 years because we lost our head coach to a P5. Don't be depressed for the next 27 months 90, it's bad for your constitution.

This is probably going too far. His actions don't equate to that. But that doesn't take away from the fact that he embarrassed the university he represents. If you get ejected from the game, then you hug a few guys cause it's your last game ever and then you walk away with your head hung low. He chose to give everyone the deuces which he did on Twitter a couple of weeks ago. He jumped around smiling and laughing like, "look at me I laid that guy out after I left my feet and launched myself into him when he wasn't looking". But hey, he looked cool doing it so eff everything else right? And if he "acted out" because the past two seasons were frustrating then how is he gonna handle adversity on his job when things don't go his way. I guess he'll just ball out and tell his boss he's a clown.
