  2. The problem we have here is that an interview(a rather long one by Sidway's account) was conducted with RV. There was every indication(from Sidway) that he would post the transcript of the entire interview. Said interview has not been posted on Twitter or published in the Daily. There may be a very logical explanation for all of this and there probably is. The silence on the topic of posting the interview is deafening and not in a good way.
  3. Flash forward to Eagle-96 fantasy world: Elder unpacks his personal belongings in his new office in the AD. RV saunters over to give him his duties for the day: RV: Here is you HR paperwork, a new vest, and some access badges and so forth. Elder: Rick we need to talk. RV: Sure thing we have PLENTY of chit-chat time here at UNT. My slate is clear through Thursday. Let's go get some lunch. On you of course. Elder: Well actually I have invited a friend for a little meeting, if you will. Smatresk: Rick I have a slip of paper here for you. RV: You mean the pink one? Smatresk: That's the one. You see we have added a title for Shane here and this slip, the pink one, has something to do with that. RV: Ok sounds great Elder: Weeellll, it's great for me at least. Smatresk. You see Rick, we are adding one little ol' word to Shane's title. No big deal. It's the word Interim. See there, just six tiny letters. Do ya get it Rick. Elder: Hahahahahahahahahaha. RV: I don't understand. Smatresk: We didn't think you would Rick. It's just six tiny letters until we can find a real, I mean, new AD to run the program. RV: Am I being fired? Elder: Let's just call it a mutual understanding. RV: What's a mutual? Smatresk: I'm gonna need that Jimmy Johns preferred card Rick.
  4. The rats are jumping from the ship. Who would have ever thought that UNT's athletic department was the BETTER option. Oh well, screw nUTSAck.
  5. Southern Miss also made the jump from 3 to 9 wins in year three of their rebuild under Monken. They went from 0-12 in 2012(under Johnson) to 1-11 in 2013 to 3-9 in 2014 to 9-4 in 2015. UNT will be in year one of our rebuild in 2016. We are what we are. We had ZERO players make the CUSA 1st and 2nd teams. That is pathetic but also very telling of the talent we posses. All the players mentioned have nothing more than potential until they actually produce. I will be interested to see Combs and Finney as JUCOs tend to really improve by their Senior year when they are more comfortable in FBS. Keep in mind that all the potential we may have will be learning new systems as well so it will be difficult indeed.
  6. Not a lateral move. UTSA is a sinking ship with Coker squarely on the hotseat. UTSA's staff may not have a job after 2016. With UNT he is on a new staff with more job security and probably a pay increase as well. Plus, if Littrell's star takes off then there is a possibility to move on to even bigger greener pastures in 3-4 years.
  7. Don't try to deny it!. We might need your money for the buyout of a coach. Nothing solid yet. We'll call him. Anthony Jenford. Asking for a friend. Anyway, send your money to: Basketball Purgatory C/O Green Room 123 Eagle Dr Denton TX
  8. Coaching matters A LOT and can have a big impact on the turnaround of a team. The problem we face is we are coming off of a 1-11 season and have decent talent at only two positions(RB and CB/S). The talent at CB is promising but VERY YOUNG. Jeffrey Wilson can be dynamic but needs to hold onto the ball. We lack size, speed, fundamentals everywhere else. Littrell is coming in late in the recruiting process so we can't just expect a massive influx of freshman talent to fill the cupboards. This will be a difficult re-building process. Look, we were probably the WORST team in FBS last season. The very worst. Not bad, not decent, TERRIBLE. We experienced the most lopsided loss to an FCS team in NCAA HISTORY. We lost that game AT HOMECOMING. We lost to SMU(another candidate for the worst team). If we win 3-4 games next season it will be a major major accomplishment.
  9. Personal banker huh?
  10. If I were a betting man I would say English goes to SMU. It gives him a chance at immediate playing time and puts him 10-15 minutes from his dad. Houston provides a better chance at winning and exposure but would fly in the face of wanting to be close to his dad. I would wager that Kincade ends up at SMU as he has a better chance of seeing time at QB there than he would at TCU or Houston. It also puts him minutes from friends and family. He never really said anything beyond "wanting to take care of his mom" That doesn't necessarily mean he wants or needs to be in the same town as her. Right now UNT can offer playing time and a much more diverse college experience than SMU and TCU. Sometimes that is simply not enough.
  11. Our hope is that immediate playing time is the deciding factor. If not, then good luck to them in their careers elsewhere. I wish Bryce's father all the best.
  12. Wednesday January 13 is the last day of the dead period
  13. He also probably wants to be in grad school in a place much closer to home so that when he is footing the bill in year 2 he will be 45 minutes from home where living with mom and dad is much cheaper than being in Alabama.
  14. Hot dames without question but the first 2.
  15. Another shot at a national championship ring. Free bowl swag. Hot dames.
  16. Mac taking the job would be the best thing possible for UNT. We need ALL the money we can get our hands on and this would be a minor miracle.
  17. Some people spend their entire lives doing something and it's the only thing they know. It's what defines them. Mac may be one of those coaches that just wants to be in and around the game in whatever capacity they can. Good luck to him if that's what he chooses.
  18. Any idea who it is and if we also have interest?
  19. Point taken. I would then hope that if we are not interested that Littrell has made it clear to him that he needs to look elsewhere.
  20. Yes, I can help. From 2011 to 2015 we had zero coaches that were recruiting. Although the actual coaches changed from year to year the number remained at zero. The number will increase to 10 in 2016. Hope that helps.
  21. My iphone is doing the same thing. Only way I can delete is on the computer.
  22. Wishing a Happy New Year to all here on gomeangreen.com. Hope 2016 is a success on the fields and courts and in all your endeavors. Not you CougarQueen!
