  1. English is a different story though. He didn't transfer because of playing time. He wanted to be near his father who has cancer. Big difference. I am very excited about him.
  2. No
  3. How featured will he be in a Littrell spread as a true Fullback. Do we move him over to D?
  4. I'll make this easy for you: 1. NOBODY but RV and Littrell knows what RV(or Smatresk for that matter) told Littrell in regards to any public statements about Kidsy. If RV told Littrell to say nothing about Kidsy and that he(RV) would handle it then it is Littrell's job to SAY NOTHING. People who want to keep their jobs tend to follow their bosses orders. Again, I don't know if that was said, but if so then Littrell did the right thing. 2. Things change in every job, including the UNT athletic department. It is possible that the protocol for this type of incident has CHANGED since Dodge and Mac were here. Those regimes weren't the most successful so it is plausible that a lot of things changed. 3. Nobody on here is saying Littrell can't do two things at once. Only you are saying that. He is capable of doing many things probably but right now recruiting should be priorities 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. That's not a difficult concept. 4. We are not battling Emporia State. We will likely offer a PWO to Pirtle. Take it or leave it. He can choose to have his college paid for at a DII school or roll the dice at UNT. If he chooses Emporia then good luck to him.
  5. His High School coach seems to think we will offer a PWO to him. No downside to that. If he gets here as a walk-on and turns out to be a G5 level player then great, we reward him with a scholarship in a couple of years. If he can't cut it then we don't ever waste a scholarship on him.
  6. Maybe turn this kid into a Mike. A FB/HB in Littrell's offense is more of a pass catcher/matchup exploiter(is that a word). This kid seems like a lead blocking nightmare for opponents if he sticks with offense. What's the thought on a position here.
  7. Bottom line. RV is the boss. If he says he wants to handle it then he handles it(whether he follows through or not). As for this situation, I think that Littrell is busy doing what he NEEDS to be doing right now and that is dedicating 100% of his time to recruiting. You are reading way too much into the fact that Littrell hasn't spoken about Kidsy yet. Way way too much. It appears RV has dropped the ball AGAIN. Littrell is not the droid you're looking for.
  8. 1. Did you stop to think about the hierarchy in the UNT Athletic Department? Like it or not, RV is Littrell's BOSS. If RV wants to be the spokesman for the athletic department then that is his prerogative. If he tells Littrell that he will handle it then that's what Littrell has to follow. Apparently it is different at OU. 2. We're not the big boys. We are one of the worst G5 teams in the country and are light years behind the big boys in terms of fund raising, athletes, booster club membership, attendance, etc... 3. Littrell has been on the job for less than two months and you are ready to judge that he is not ready for prime time? I'm glad you don't run the department. 4. Again, RV is the boss and he calls the shots whether you, Littrell, or anyone else likes it. If RV says Kidsy can't workout with the team then that's what goes.
  9. RV is the head of, and the mouthpiece of, the athletic department. That is why he made the initial statement passing responsibility off to the University. That is also why he responded to Sidway on 01/26. At any other time I would expect Littrell to handle this(keep in mind he still has to run the decision by RV as he is his boss). This is the final stretch of the recruiting season so I don't see it as Littrell hiding behind RVs skirt. I am quite sure that RV said that he would handle it then dropped the ball yet again. This is not on Littrell.
  10. Wow. I'm gonna go ahead and distance from this one as far away as I can.
  11. From what I understand, RV has only made public statements twice: January 15: “The athletic department has been made aware of the arrest of a member of the North Texas football team, although the information available to us is limited. We have reached out to make sure that University entities responsible for the follow-up and investigation of this matter are aware of this situation and we will receive our updates through those offices. Based on my knowledge it wouldn’t be prudent for me to comment any further on the matter.” January 26: “I told Darvin Kidsy directly that at this point in time, he needs to take care of his situation and that he did not need to be involved with football,” Villareal said, referencing a phone call he had with Kidsy last weekend. “If that’s not the case, I will address that immediately. But I have not been aware he’s been involved in workouts.” So: 1. It took RV from January 15th to January 22/23 to tell Kidsy to stay away from the program(we are relying on RVs word that this conversation ever took place). That's kind of a long time. 2. Littrell and the staff have been busy recruiting with probably very little time in Denton. RV should know this and should have informed the staff that is in town of his decision regarding Kidsy. Or he could have walked down a flight of stairs to check the weight room. 3. He seems to be placing blame on the strength staff for allowing Kidsy to work out. RV calls it a "mis-communication" with Zack Womack, but two seconds later defines mis-communication as "not having spoken" with Zack about Kidsy. That is not what mis-communication means. That actually means no communication. It's embarrassing for the department and makes it look like we don't give an eff and don't know what we are doing. Well, I think the jury came back a long time ago on that one. And the band played on.
  12. That brings up a question. Does his Native American tuition aid count as "financial aid" in regards to being eligible for a Blueshirt? From ESPN: " There is one advantage of encouraging a kid to be a blueshirt as opposed to a grayshirt. Unlike grayshirts, who aren't allowed to practice or be around the program for the first semester out of high school, a blueshirt can practice and play immediately, as long as he pays his own way. The only catch is the prospect may not have been recruited, meaning he can't have taken a paid official visit to the school or signed any kind of financial-aid agreement. "
  13. The only guaranty is that Preferred walk-ons get a spot on the fall roster. They usually don't get scholarship offers until junior year if they perform. Regular walk-ons are assured of nothing.
  14. You will be learning from men that won 3 national titles and 1 Super Bowl as players. Littrell, Harrell, and Morris know what it takes to win it all.
  15. When People think Air raid they think Pass-Happy. The easy way to put it is Washington State offense vs UNC offense in 2014 and 2015. I expect we will be much closer to UNC. These are the season totals in attempts: 2015 UNC: Run 527 Pass 409 2015 WSU: Run 294 Pass 738 2014 UNC Run 587 Pass 509 2014 WSU Run 266 Pass 510
  16. Yeah we should probably close the book on this one. No shame in losing out to Baylor or Indiana.Good luck to him.
  17. Agreed. Littrell's version of the spread is meant to go so fast and up-tempo as to keep the defense gassed. Littrell's offense is much more balanced then the Leach version. It's all about keeping the linebackers guessing and out of sync. We'll see a lot of WR screens, slants and jet sweeps. It's all about learning 15-20 plays and then running them to perfection every time. Repetition is key. Morris/Smith will have to be able to make quick reads to diagnose where the weakness is and then be decisive in their decision making. It's not gimmicky at all. It's really pretty simple.
  18. So somewhere between a PWO and 2016 signee.
  19. So if it is initially a blueshirt(which explains why UNTGridiron didn't tweet a 918 message) then he can enroll and play in 2016 but counts towards the 2017 class. If we don't sign a full class next week(excluding Fine) then he can't blueshirt and he counts towards 2016 class. Am I correct here?
  20. http://www.tucsonnewsnow.com/story/28016546/low-ranked-football-recruiting-class-our-kinda-guys Back in 1990 Dick Tomey recruited a class that was 6th in the Pac-10. A group of guys that were too slow, or too short, or not strong enough. They were what they called OKG's(Our Kinda Guys) They were guys that fit the scheme. Guys that prouced in high school but were an inch or two too small. Ten pounds too light. I'll take guys like Fine and Pirtle that may not have been recruited by the big boys but have produced record-setting numbers. I just want guys that can play. I don't care what their measurables are. I care what they produce. Johhny Quinn was lightly recruited, maybe went 5'11" but was a monster producer in high school. Booger Kennedy was maybe 5'9" as a DT. Casey Fitzgerald was too small and too slow to play in D1A. SMU didn't even want him and he was a legacy there. They all produced in high school but were a little too short or not fast enough for the big programs. These are three of the greatest players to suit up for UNT. Gimmie OKGs any day over measurables guys. That kind of thinking is what doomed Mac.
  21. That, and he couldn't keep his hands off of female employees.
