I was shocked that so many teams in the AAC still use grass. -

MGB: A name to keep in mind in AD search: Wren Baker
Eagle-96 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
http://www.kansascity.com/sports/college/sec/university-of-missouri/article89971182.html Upon being appointed Interim AD at Missouri: Nevertheless, Baker has no intention of being a placeholder. “One thing I’m not made for is to sit in neutral or tread water,” he said. “I want to keep advancing forward. We had some key initiatives that we’ve been working on over the last 14 months that Mack started the ball rolling and developing.” My only hope is that Baker's agent isn't floating his name out there to put pressure on Missouri to make his job permanent. He really seems to like Columbia -

I didn't see Ivory Tower listed. Is that a misprint. -
MGB breaking news -- UNT expected to name AD by end of week
Eagle-96 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
We CANNOT hamstring the AD in ANY way. He/She has to have the control to make the personnel decisions they see fit. PERIOD. I wouldn't want someone to be my AD that would allow the prez or board call the shots. We are hiring the AD to do a job. We need to let them do it. -

It's all about the kaizen. We need continuous improvement. We need someone that will never settle. Never coast. Never rest on his laurels. Never be happy with his accomplishments. After Apogee was built RV said my legacy is secure, eff it. My hope is that whomever comes in here will be gone in 5 years because a top P5 school throws a ton of money at him because of what he is able to accomplish here. -
Thanks. Is that related to Ninfas? Are there any Houston chains in DFW that would be comparable to Houston style? BTW: I think we are spoiled living in Texas when it comes to Mexican/ Tex-Mex food as what we consider meh, people from other parts of our fair land come in and think its the best they've ever had.

Serious question alert: I'm not really sure what Houston Style Tex-Mex is. Can you enlighten me please.

I would be happy with either choice as they are both strong in the coach selection and fundraising areas where we need the most help. They have both had experience with P5 schools and lower level(G5, FCS, D2) levels. They know how the big boys do it but they also know the struggles of lower level programs. Exciting times! -

Teague also spent time at Ole Miss in the fund raising area. -

He is also an ex college baseball player which can only help our push to start a baseball team. He was also named 2015-2016 NACDA Athletics Director of the Year for the FCS level. I am liking him more and more. Hope they didn't float his name as a smokescreen. -

http://www.ucasports.com/staff.aspx?staff=46 I like what Teague brings to the table. Especially in his coaching hires and in the fundraising area: " The Purple Circle, Central Arkansas' private fundraising arm, has also seen tremendous growth under Teague — more than tripling in donations in his first year and growing another 60 percent since then. MGB: UNT paying consultants $20,000 to evaluate program
Eagle-96 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I think we paid him in Werthers Originals and Butterscotch disks. -
Least shocking blog post in DRC history. But the prediction sounds about right to me. We're working with FCS level scholarship numbers. Please prove me wrong Seth.

The only way we get into AAC is if there is so much attrition with teams going to Big12 or in other P5 power grabs that the AAC doesn't have any options. This starts the cycle all over again. We can say, "great we moved up to the AAC! But now its watered down and not worth the cost of changing our stationary". The same thing happened with the move to CUSA. I agree with Vito that smooooo will do everything they can to not be associated with UNT(they'll probably back out of the game contract after this season as well). I'm not sure what the voting percentage has to be to accept new members into the AAC or if a single member can block. Bottom line is that RV, Mac, Dodge, Stephens, Benford, etc... have left us in a VERY BAD position concerning any hope of moving up in realignment. This is why I am ok with Littrell bringing in so many JUCOs to right this ship. We need to win as fast as we can if we want to survive as an FBS program. If that means turnover in the players in the field , so be it. We cant afford to keep "building for the future" We have to win in the big 3 sports NOW! OR ELSE!

Guys, this year is going to be tough. We simply don't have the depth we need and I fear we will tend to fade in games as we get to the 4th quarter. Throw in the fact that the guys will be learning a new offense and defense and the recipe for a 1 or 2 win season is there. One thing we do have is hope. I think Littrell is the right man for the job but it is going to take time to get where we want to be. We will all have to be patient and take our lumps. Anything over 2 wins will be gravy to me. THAT is the sad state that this program has been left in.

MGB: UNT's C-USA schedule in men's hoops is out
Eagle-96 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Should have pulled that trigger months ago. We would already have our rebuild process underway and be on the road to success. Now we won't start that journey for 8 or 9 months. Sigh. Missed opportunities. -
I think graduating a high percentage of players is important to the parents of these student athletes and the parents can have a lot of sway as to where a recruit signs. That is one of the reasons why this recognition is important. You can bet that the staff uses this fact when they are speaking with mom and dad.

Things Littrell wants his football players to be
