  1. SportsUSA has them at Grapevine Mills Mall. They are pretty pricey there as they run around $50. They also have Fleece blankets with the old style "North Texas" as well as the North Texas folding chairs.
  2. I don't think any amount of money or incentives will ever get DD to control his mouth. I think it is all a part of his "us against the world" attitude that he tries to instill in his team. He uses it as motivation and probably always will.
  3. I wish he had gone for it to but I see the reasoning behind why he wanted to punt. We came out and punted the ball and put Baylor on their own 22 instead of taking a chance of putting them on our 29. We forced them to punt and gave ourselves the ball back with the score still 34-14. We still couldn't move the ball but at least we were still in position to win if the offense gets out of the doldrums. Be mad at the DD style of play, but to say he gave up is a far stretch. We can agree to disagree but we all still support the Mean Green and I respect your opinions.
  4. You mean when we were down 34-14 and punted from our own 29? Yeah that was a real give up considering we had only gained 27 yards in the 2nd half to that point and were down to our third string running back.
  5. How did he give up? Explain it to me. Did he run out there and pull J-mo's hamstring?
  6. We got pasted by a top 5 team in their stadium after the death of a teammate and that equates to DD giving up? I would equate that to UT having far superior players at most every position.
  7. He also loses to NMSU and ASU and doesn't win his conference championship. When has DD given up in a game?
  8. Why extemd the contract? Any coach that isn't under contract for at least 4 years is a lame duck coach plain and simple. Would you sign a letter of intent to play at a school who had a coach under contract for 1 or 2 years? I wouldn't either.

  13. http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...0&ATCLID=173632 Mean Green Looks To Repeat As SBC Champs And Return To The NCAA Tourney Courtesy: University of North Texas Release: 08/08/2005 After the greatest season in North Texas women’s soccer history, head coach John Hedlund knows an encore performance will be tough, but with seven starters returning the Mean Green is poised to make its second straight appearance in the NCAA tournament. The 2004 season was a magical run for North Texas. The Mean Green posted a school-record 16 wins, won its second Sun Belt Conference regular season title, captured its first-ever SBC Tournament crown and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. North Texas has only three seniors on the roster this year but returns seven starters and 11 letterwinners from last season’s squad. The Mean Green has one of the best defensive teams in the conference with senior goalkeeper Briana Buchanan leading the way. Buchanan set a school record with 10 shutouts last season and has a school record 17 for her career. She is also third all-time with 193 saves for her career. Forwards Kristen Campbell and Heather Hutyra lead the way for North Texas on the offensive end this season. Hutyra notched 17 points, along with six goals as a true freshman last season. She was second on the team in points and fired a freshman-record 83 shots last year. Campbell was second on the team with 46 shots on goal last season along with four goals and four assists. Complementing Campbell and Hutyra on offense will be senior Misty Cordon and junior Jamie Yates. Cordon scored a career-best four goals last season, while Yates added seven points. Sophomore defenders Dani Slavonic and Lauren Weller return to anchor the North Texas defense. Slavonic started all 23 games last year and was named to the Sun Belt Conference all-tournament team. Weller missed the final nine games of the season with a knee injury, but she saw action in 14 games before getting injured and made her presence felt. Senior Andrea Marak also returns to give the Mean Green invaluable experience and depth in the backfield. Marak saw action in 22 games last year and will be the only senior defender this season for North Texas. Midfielders Angela Hawkins and Melissa Chapman provide the Mean Green with experience. Hawkins has missed only one game in her first two seasons, while Chapman has notched seven goals in her first two seasons. North Texas welcomes five newcomers to the squad this fall. Midfielders Brittany Cleveland and Kelli Lunsford come to North Texas after winning a state championship their senior years in high school. Amanda Johnson was named District 6-5A Defensive Player of the Year, and forward Gennifer Hurst and defender Amanda Mitchell join the Mean Green this season with a chance to contribute immediately for North Texas. "These five players along with the six strong walk-ons we were able to add to our roster for next fall makes this definitely our largest, and deepest recruiting class since I’ve been here," said North Texas head coach John Hedlund. "This class has a lot of speed and several players that are very versatile in which they can play many positions on the field at a very high level." The 2005 schedule is highlighted by a school-record tying 11 home games. The Mean Green begins the season on Friday, August, 26 with a match against Eastern Illinois in El Paso, Texas, followed with a game against UTEP on August 27. North Texas begins the home portion of the schedule on Wednesday, August 31 against Texas State. Since the 2000 season, North Texas has been nearly unbeatable at home, compiling a record of 37-2-3. The Mean Green moves into a new permanent facility for the 2005 season. North Texas will have a new facility complete with a new field, locker rooms, along with a seating capacity of 1,000 at the Mean Green Soccer Complex. North Texas also has non-conference road games against SMU, Houston, and Northwestern State. The Mean Green begins defense of its Sun Belt Conference Championship on September 30 with a home game against league newcomer Troy. North Texas will also face its fiercest conference rival, Denver, at home on Oct. 21. North Texas has five league home games this season and four road games. The 2005 Sun Belt Conference Tournament will take place Nov. 2-5 in Mobile, Ala. The winner of the tournament gets an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
  14. http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...0&ATCLID=177691 DENTON (8/17/05) - The North Texas women's soccer team sees its first action of the 2005 season when it plays a friendly match against former Mean Green players on Saturday, Aug. 20 at 7 pm at the Mean Green Soccer Complex. The defending Sun Belt Champions return seven starters and 11 letterwinners from a team that won a school-record 16 games last year. The Mean Green arrived in camp last Monday and will hold double sessions through this week. The Alumni Game will be NT's final tuneup before its season opener on Friday, Aug. 26 against Eastern Illinois at El Paso. The Mean Green opens the home schedule on Wednesday, Aug. 31 against Texas State. North Texas will play Saturday night's game at the soccer complex next to the Peterbilt Plant off Airport Road in Denton. The Mean Green plans on moving into its own facility on Bonnie Brae across from the new athletic center.
  15. How about the always classic: RIP RIP REE. KICK HIM IN THE KNEE RIP RIP RASS. KICK HIM IN THE OTHER KNEE
  16. Maybe there will be some competition from the youngsters at that position after all. I wonder if a certain player at that positions abscence is the death knell for him at NT.
  17. Hold it right there. You can't just whip out the and then leave us hangin'. Give us at least a little more.
  18. We knew about 2 of the guys on the academic bubble but the third one could be a killer. If we lose all three then we are in trouble.
  19. Check the MGR. Just posted.
  20. Are you a fan or a family member? If you are a family member(you don't need to reveal who you are) what were the big factors in Steve choosing NT and what does he think so far? BTW: Welcome to the board.
  21. GG, I am not saying that there was no effort there in the games. I have not seen them all. I am saying that the results are embarrasing against the big boys. The scores against Boise, Nevada and ASU are embarrasing and pathetic because they aren't big boys. ASU isn't even a small blind old man(apologies to any small blind old men. But come to think of it, a small blind old man couldn't read this post anyway). But I digress. I think there was effort there against UT last year. I just think the boys were shell-shocked with the loss of Drew. I think there will be an effort by every player that steps on the field on September 3. I just don't think it will be enough against a championship calibre squad in LSU.
  22. They have only revealed teams 117-80. NT should be somewhere in the high 50's.
  23. We won 2 OOC games 4 times since our return to D1A(I am not counting 1995 when all of our games were OOC). The problem is that we beat a 1-AA team each of those years. We beat Samford and Louisiana-Lafayette in 2000. We beat Nicholls State and Cincinnati in 2002. We beat Indiana State and Texas Tech in 1997 We beat Illinois State and Northern Illinois in 1996
  24. They would probably go 0-3 in those games.
  25. I'll go back just 10 years. You were impressed with our effort in the following games?: 2000 Kansas State 55 NT 10 ASU 53 (their only win of the year) NT 28 Boise St 59 NT 0 1999 LSU 52 NT 0 1997 Nevada 65 NT 10 1996 Arizona State 52 NT 7 Texas A&M 55 NT 0
