  1. Really?!?...I seem to remember a news story at the beginning of this thread about Jones "stealing" recruits. I'm sure that at least a few of our recruits are on his WANTED list. Last year, we received similar well wishes from our conference mates and others too. But, apparently not from our neighbors to the south. (not to say that there was NO ONE from SMU that wasn't happy for us, but I didn't notice any in my message board scanning) Edit: Dammit, Perry beat me to this one
  2. This reasoning reaks of the "Everyone's a Winner!!!" mentality. Don't get me wrong...I was a 12th place ribbon legend as a kid and I'm a big fan of this mentality in many situations (especially when it involves little kids), college players and fans are "big kids" and they should be able to handle a loss at the end of an otherwise successful season. Just my too sints
  3. Whatever happened to the sock puppets...I thought that was pretty unique. Or am I bringing up a touchy subject?
  4. As a side note, the jump from $67M to $91M (a 36% increase in a year?) is pretty impressive (especially by UNT standards). Great news to hear!
  5. Just wanted to see if anyone else from the board was planning on being there in person? It would be nice to be around other MG fans. Hopefully my wife doesn't wimp out and just want to watch it on TV. As a side note: As I was surfing DU's site for ticket info, I found this interesting tidbit: DU has 25 NCAA Div. I national championships 7 hockey and 18 skiing That has to be higher than any other Sun Belt school by far. North Texas has two for golf back in the late 40's.
  6. As a Texans fan, I liked it...but I still prefer the blue (my favorite color). Plus, the blue kind of reminds me of the "Love ya, Blue" Oilers. Ahhh, memories.
  7. Pretty neat article: Brave Combo and Bubba Hernandez nominated for Grammy Brave Combo played at my wedding this past December on campus. They are a class act, great individuals, and made our reception the best I've ever been to (of course I'm a little biased).
  8. Is this a true story?...the last couple of paragraphs make it sound like it is an article from The Onion
  9. No offense to the great athlete's that play the sport, but baseball is in same catagory as golf (fun to play, but boring to watch). But what do I know...I think soccer is a close second to football in terms of "fun to watch". Flame away!!!
  10. I even saw what I believed to be one of their players trash talking the band right before halftime. They deserved what they got. That said, it was great to see a win in the only game I got to see in person.
  11. It's like being a kid at Christmas...only without a fat guy in a red suit.
  12. My wife, my mom, and I will be there...we'll be in town for the T-giving holiday. Yea! I get to see Dodgeball live!
  13. My unreliable source (a Husker fan) thinks it will be Franny
  14. Wow! Way to piss in our Cherrios. I didn't think we were close to being a "bottom 20" offense before the Navy game. What is your source on this claim?
  15. I'll be watching online...I'll yell loud enough so yall can here me from out here.
  16. How bout we work on a defense.
  17. There are still a couple of lakes on the old golf course, right? They could bring a floating armada of smokers and ice chests bouyed (sp?) by innertubes.
  18. Details, details.
  19. Once again I'll use the phrase: "The sky is falling, the sky is falling!" Here's an interesting article from a couple months back: Teens Surveyed You can take it at face value, but I believe most kids know what's up and what's most important in life. Not that there are not problems, but they can be corrected or worked out as problems in the past have been. Maybe I'm just too optimistic (sp?). Now time for this slacker to get back to work.
  20. You forgot to call the President and Athletic Director "Carnival Barkers".
  21. The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
  22. While I believe the results will have somewhat of a factor, I don't think it will hurt long term as long as the team continues to improve. UH and UCF are good recent examples that even winless seasons don't keep the good recruits away. I would think that the direction the program is headed (positive or negative), the offensive and defensive systems in place, and the likability and enthusiasm of the head coach and his staff are important factors too besides just straight W-L results. Just thoughts from a Monday morning quarterback.
