Pretty much sums up my thoughts on the issue too. -
Mean Green Pursues Long Green For Future

If you don't have access to the VIP board, I believe you can PM one of the admins and they can hook you up. For me, it just seemed to appear one day out of the blue, like a Messiah born in a manger stall...it was magical. (Props to whoever added me a while back!!!) -
Me likey this game too: Soccer: Even though its my favorite sport to watch and play, the only team I really watch and cheer for is Team USA due to lack of TV and highlight coverage here in the states. I would like to change that soon since the MLS is proving to be a stable (and thriving?) league. Maybe the Dynamo or Rapids. NFL: Texans (yes I miss the Oilers too ). Born in Houston and cheered for H-town teams ever since (my story is eerily parallel to Eagle1855). So it then follows... NBA: Rockets MLB: Astros. The Red Sox have been my second team since 2002 and YES I do have a reason - a family friend has played for them since then. He's about to retire (I think) so they'll probably drop off the radar for me. The Rockies have been my third team since their big run last year. College: Surprise!!! Its the Mean Green!!! I also route for UH cause my dad went there and I grew up rooting for them. (start flashback sequence) My most vivid/painful memory of this was in 1991 (I believe) when UH was #3 in the nation and my Dad and I went down to Austin to watch them play #16 Texas. Texas upset them but what made it even worse was that I believe #1 and #2 lost also so it was the Coogs chance to be #1. (end flashback sequence)

Final Thoughts On The Campaign And Vote
BeanCounterGrad'03 replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
Don't forget crack-cocaine (hope emmitt doesn't read this). Seriously though, thanks for all your hard work, Flyer, and good luck in your future endeavors (school, life, and otherwise)! -
Well, there is that whole Methodist seminary thing they have there that connects it to the church. Being a life long Methodist, I've had or known several pastors that graduated from there. From what I've been told, its a wonderful seminary (almost considered going there back when I was contemplating ministry). That being said...I still don't like SMU in general. FYI...Duke, Princeton, and Denver U are also "Methodist" schools with seminaries that very few people outside of the Methodist church know about.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), my wife is going back to school to get her engineering degree. So we're gonna struggle for a few years. But after she graduates and finds a job, we definitely should be in for 1K a year. Don't know how we'll split it up (stadium, athletics, scholarships, music, etc.) yet.

To add a little more goodness to your day...SMU lost again. Although Houston had to come from behind and beat them in the final minute.

That's my adoptee!!!

Glory to the Green!!! I'm having a beer in celebration now!!! Now, if only the football team wins, it will be the perfect end to the perfect day!!!

Hear! Hear! That's the spirit! (said in Scoops Callahan style)

Should it bring us any comfort/hope for the future that FIU seems to be having a "turn around" this season? Just looking for any bright spots...oh, here's another one: we finally reached the 30 point plateau. I'm gonna go have another beer.

Ah yes...Alpine, TX...quite familiar with that town (they were in our district in high school)

For those that care (or that just want something new to read): Because my dad graduated from UH, I grew up a Cougar fan and he flew up so that we could go to the game. Unfortunately, the game didn't quite come out the way we wanted, but it was a great game. Just a few observations: - The whole town of Ft. Collins supports the university (athletics and all). Hopefully Denton will continue the trend of improving their support for both universities. - The stadium gave me the impression of Fouts, only 20 years younger. Lots of concrete and aluminum bleachers. They just finished pouring tens of millions into the refurbishment of it, so the press box was much more impressive than ours, plus there was no track around the field. I was at about the goal line and it was still a great view. Can't wait to watch NT in our new stadium! I know I imagined it more than once during the game. - The attendance was good, but not great. Box score said 21,500 and that looked about dead on. The student side was about 80% full (the stands are smaller than our student side) and they were loud and into the game. They had a cool tradition of "crowd surfing" ladies after every score. They'd just get them up in a crowd surfing position and then just repeatedly toss them in the air (maybe not so cool, but it looked cool from across the stadium. Overall it was a good experience and everyone was cordial (sp?). There was definitely great school spirit displayed by the CSU fans that I hope NT can reach (very attainable...I don't think we are too far behind in that aspect, it just takes time coming from where we came...historically speaking). Just some of my thoughts...take them for what they're worth. Go Mean Green!!!

Proud Of My Adopted Player...anyone Else?

Brock Stickler has been injured and out the last two games...looking forward to him getting back on the horse against Rice! -
What is the cost of Grasscrete compared to regular pavement/concrete? Would be awesome to see this installed around our brand new stadium!

Being a liberal (or any kind of left leaning) individual in Texas is like being a blueberry floating in tomato soup. Although I've already responded in another political thread, I'm thinking of taking your approach as well. No use getting my blood pressure up for something that's not going to make a difference in the outcome anyway. I'm glad I live in a state where my presidential vote is more valuable. I'm gonna try to stick to the football and bball boards until this s***storm blows over. (cue the tired jokes about liberals always running from a fight) Peace out. Go Mean Green!!!

Wow...I guess fear tatics do work. I don't have time to address each of your points (I'm a working stiff too...not so much during football season ), so I'll just post the link: Obama's Stance The "Blueprint for Change" lays out his plan pretty well. Whether or not he'll get to realize all of it (almost certain he won't) because of opposition (gotta work with those across the aisle) remains to be seen. I can't help you, though, if you feel you can't trust him (or any politician) or let fear dictate your decision. If you take the issues out of the process, it just becomes a "feelings" contest.

The win also made it more bearable That was the only game I saw last year in person (in town for T-giving).
