  1. Can't say I disagree with that banner. Who were the idiot consumers that made trucker hats popular a few years back?
  2. While searching for the above image, I also found this gem: Wonder if he's packin' heat in the storage compartment
  3. Agree with this...also liked your idea about the laser sight on the pistol. It could give a novice like me a huge advantage in a (God forbid) home gunfight
  4. If I had no choice, then yes, I would practice my religion illegally. My point is that by the time you feel you need to defend yourself from the government, you're not gonna give a rat's a** about that government's gun laws. I can give you an example...Shotguns should be allowed because they are great sporting guns and great for home defense (I agree with King DL's post about the shotgun effect). I think rocket launchers should not be allowed because the can blow up small houses. Yes...did I give the impression that I did not know this? I probably disagree more with those people than I do with you. My bad...I didn't get specific enough...gun talk is not my forte. When I think of assault weapons, I tend to think of fully automatic weapons (M-16 style). That's fine if you feel they are ok...we can agree to disagree. Uh...venison is tastier than cat meat...not really sure where this came from. I guess I'm facinated too!
  5. Probably the same way people are able to obtain illegal drugs. I don't doubt that that is how it is in Mexico...that's why so many Mexicans want to live here. But it does not really affect my opinion that if you (and your neighbors) are to the point of needing arms to protect yourself from the government, you're probably already ready to start a "war" with them (aka the Branch Davidian (sp?)) anyways. Look, I'm not trying to "attack" the second amendment. I see it as useful as the first. But I see it as useful for personal, family, and property protection from anyone, be it citizen or government. Pretty much the only differences I have with a typical NRA member are what type of arms are allowed (I'm sorry, but assault rifles should be exclusively reserved for police, SWAT, and military purposes) and how many hoops there are to jump through before getting them. I don't agree with countries that don't allow any kind of gun ownership. In fact, the wife and I have discussed buying our first gun for home protection once our child is born (we're expecting ).
  6. For the reason you have stated, I would not call the 2nd amendment antiquated. I would call it unecessary. If I'm in fear of the government enough to feel that I need a gun to protect myself from them, then I'm going to bear arms whether the government gives me that right or not. That being said...I'm kinda in the same boat as MGDork, although I lean ever-so-slightly to the side of wanting the campus ban to stay in place. I do, however, support CHL's and their use in many public places.
  7. I don't know who Boomer is, but in this economy, I'd feel terrible about firing anyone.
  8. First of all...he's your president too. Unless you've declared yourself a one-man country (haven't there been cases of people trying to do that to avoid taxes?). Second of all...when exactly was there a bill that called for the killing of unborn children? I think your beef is with those who have chosen to have an abortion. Thus ends my smart-ass post of the day. On another topic...what are you studying for? Whatever it is, good luck!
  9. I've always held the thought that in college basketball, any season with 20+ wins is at least a "good" season. I guess "good" may depend on the school and its recent history. Duke, NC, Memphis, etc. could easily justify a 20+ win season as a bad season if they don't get out of the first round of the dance.
  10. Does UALR's loss kill their chances at an at-large bid for the dance, or was there never really that possibility?
  11. Pretty funny...one of the best blog ideas I've seen in a while.
  12. Don't poke the monkeys...you'll anger them and they might rip your face and hands off. Expect a Democrat/liberal/Obama bashing thread about once everyday (some may include the label "for fun"). Its a small price to pay for having who I believe to be the right leadership in office right now. In fairness, a few left leaning posters did this some the last 8 years, but the right on this board has a bigger megaphone (not surprising in Tejas).
  13. Um...ok, buddy...I didn't realize I was attempting to be a troll (was my post that inflamatory?)...just throwing in my two cents on the article. Oh, and thanks for the kid comment...I was starting to feel old as I roll into my thirties. The British Empire probably thought that because they had a technologically advanced navy and shipping capability compared to the Roman Empire that they would never decline. But specifics about how it happens are not the point I was trying to make. I was simply saying that throughout history you see a general pattern of rise and fall of world powers. Sometimes the cycle takes a decade or two (i.e. Nazi Germany) and sometimes it takes several centuries (i.e. the Roman Empire). If I were to take a stab at what the remotely possible situation is that would cause us to fall from world power status, it would be something involving our growing national debt and the inability for us (individually and as a government - BOTH PARTIES) to "live within our means". But its just a hunch I have. I agree with you on the Russian split, though. Signed, A trolling amateur history buff
  14. I think the lecturer has underlying motives to his "predictions", but I would also respond to this guy's quote by pointing to the Roman Empire, Ottoman Empire, British Empire, and any other country/empire throughout history that fell or became a shell of its former self. I would expect the global influence of the U.S. to see a similar fate purely based on past historical patterns. "Falling apart", though possible, is highly unlikely in my book. 15. The wife and I are planning on being there. Hopefully we'll see 1,000!!!
  16. My wife and I have become a fan of this guy: Z-ap5Fp2T6c A girl's like a fridge...once a week you should stock it
  17. I get this song running through my head everytime I make love Xbt30UnzRWw
  18. Gagree...I get that feeling everytime I get a credit card offer from a bank that I already have 3 cards with...thanks Chase! (BOA use to do it to me too)
