Massive disappointment this season. Zero excuse to not be bowl eligible at minimum.

He’s one of the top paid coordinators in G5. Yes, we can do better with a surer bet at DC. Coaching carousel is already spinning. Options will be available.

St. Johns (11/16/23) - Charleston Classic

Your house of cards is crashing down around you. Tough thing. -
First, Congrats to Ross on his first win as HC. That UNI team is no joke. Well coached, hard nosed, and resilient. Tons of respect for that program. Was awesome to have a tough back and forth game against a real opponent to start the season. The Maniacs continue to impress. They showed out and set the tone for the energy and crowd interaction in the game. Was amazing to feel the Pit rock in game 1. It usually takes half a season for our fans to wake up and give us the true home court advantage. Maybe we’ve turned the corner on that front as a program? All in all - Great win and great atmosphere at the Pit! More of that please. GMG!

Who Should We Hire to be Our DC Next Season?
Green Lantern replied to Side.Show.Joe's topic in Mean Green Football
It’s FBS football. Limited HC, OC and DC opportunities. There will always be good coaches available & ready to take these roles. -
My issue is that no one forced the staff to make a scheme change defensively. We clearly don’t have the personnel to run the 3-3-5. That’s not even up for debate. Not evaluating that correctly and ignoring the Portal is pretty brutal. It sucks cause we’re wasting a really good year with Rogers at QB. We can’t play even just “regular” bad defense which would give us a chance at W’s. It’s been horrific. I’m in the camp that there’s likely to be more “sure thing” DC talent available once this current coaching cycle heats up in the next month. I have an awful feeling that Friday night in Dallas is going to be really bad. I sincerely hope I’m wrong.

Post Game Press Conference: UTSA
Green Lantern replied to Side.Show.Joe's topic in Mean Green Football
Boy I am. As soon as we’re not able to reach bowl eligibility, so likely late Friday night, he needs to be sent packing. Coaching cycle is getting ready to start up. There will be much better options available that we can afford. -
UNT vs. SMU (11/10/23) Score Predictions
Green Lantern replied to Big Z's topic in Mean Green Football
I’m assuming a SMU pick your score to 28. We usually show up in Dallas and inexplicably look like we’ve never played a down of football before. Will still be there as always praying for the best. -

Even if he has the choice, why would you stake your FBS head coaching career on it? Much better DC options out there. Just rip the band aid off at the end of the year and move on. -
***OFFICIAL UTSA vs. UNT Game Day Discussion***

Our defense is just so soft. Not a hint of physicality out there. Mix in not one but 2 red zone turnovers and your game is sunk. Sad. -
It was the exact same way for UNT when ours went up for votes in the past. Most students don’t hear about these things and/or care enough to vote. Small mobilized group carries the day one way or another. Also - outside of laughing at a rival - I feel for UTSA. Super deflating for them and not good overall for the AAC. With students these days getting killed with extremely high tuition and fees, I think lots of programs out there would be hard pressed to get an increased athletics fee passed in this environment. Also with this and Harris being gone, 0% chance Traylor stays.

Calling This Before I Can Say "I Told You So"
Green Lantern replied to rojomojo's topic in Mean Green Basketball
That’s a good point. We’ve been very fortunate to have two of the most clutch players I’ve had the pleasure of watching in my 25 years of following UNT hoops back to back. Just think it’s bold to assume we’ve got somebody capable of being that transformative like Perry or your example of Hamlet without having seen it. I hope we do! I do think we have a talented roster assembled. Looks deep and versatile on paper. Excited to see them get after it on Sunday. -

Man this is a bold statement. Dude hit absolute game changing and/or winning daggers for us over and over again in high pressure situations. Our team should be pretty good again, but Perry is a special talent. Have a feeling we’re all getting ready to witness him go off at KState this season. -
I’m going to require you to kindly delete this username as you sir are no Green Lantern. My Ray upvotes will prove this to you beyond a shadow of a doubt.

***Official Temple vs UNT Game Discussion***

Nice to get a decisive win! We needed that. Offense continues to show that it can be extremely explosive. Props to the defense for getting some key 4th down stops and forcing three turnovers. Good day in Denton. -

Agree. Our offensive line was terrible today. Really got pushed around. Honestly we’re pretty soft all around. Not a very physical team - with the exception of our RB’s. -

Horrible end to the half. Left way too much out there. Should be up 21-10. -
After 4 games, how do we feel about Coach Morris?
Green Lantern replied to 3_n_out's topic in Mean Green Football
There are some improvements. Rogers is a real bright spot. Offense as a whole looks like it has the potential to develop into a consistently dangerous unit. My issue is that I haven’t been particularly worried about the offensive side of the ball going back to the Morris hire. It’s the defense that will end up breaking this season for us. Simply put, we don’t have the personnel for this 3-3-5. Richards - our best defensive player - is almost completely neutralized in this alignment. When we’ve gone to 4 man, we look more competent. Not amazing, but better. Then we inexplicably switch back to 3 man in obvious running situations and get gashed. Even by FCS ACU. We’re simply being hard headed in philosophy on that side of the ball. To the team’s detriment. Either we adjust base alignment or expect AAC play to be a brutal slog for us. -
Bump again. Can anyone on here explain to me like I’m a 5 year old what I’m supposed to like and be excited about with our 3 man front?
