  1. I know you’re plugged in enough to get that the very top flight QB’s in the transfer portal are not going to G5 schools. At the top end it’s purely an NIL play for those guys. Still lots of good talent at QB - we happened to get one I think. There is a strata, like it or not, about what type of player is “attainable” for non-P5 programs with the portal/NIL. Don’t like it but it doesn’t change reality. 0 chance a guy like Cam Ward is coming to Denton off a season like he just had and the interest garnered on the open market. Miami is paying dudes serious cash now. Give me a realistic “Come to Denton Cam” pitch.
  2. I don’t get the negativity at all. Both Morris and Pavia were guys I’d have been thrilled with. Morris seems like an ideal fit for our system though. His career completion percentage is excellent. Should have a very effective offensive line and running game with all the weapons we added to those position groups to help take pressure off and protect him. Super excited to see him run this offense. For Coach Morris to land the top (attainable) QB transfer target on my list - very impressed. Now let’s get a few DL transfers and do something next season!
  3. More fans coming to grips with UNT Basketball in real time. These threads are a fascinating decent into madness. 😂 One aside - Robert Allen is such a huge off-season addition for us. He’s really come on in the past 4-5 games. Very happy with his progression in our system.
  4. Some weird saltiness when it pertains to Grant and Tylor. Ideal ambassadors for UNT in their time here. Both instrumental in rebuilding a quality foundation for this program and taking it to unprecedented heights. Both are responsible for some of the best UNT sports memories I’ve got in my 25+ years of being a fan. Will root for both of them to do well outside of when we match up with them. Then just a heartfelt handshake of appreciation after we knock them out of the NCAA Tournament.
  5. Really big pickup for the Mean Green. Tip of hat to Coach Morris for this one!
  6. Like the additions to the secondary from the portal. Extremely concerned that we have not gotten impact players on the DL to this point. It was such a glaring weakness last season. Don’t understand how that wouldn’t biggest recruiting priority behind replacing Rogers.
  7. Just got back from a little Denton Square area post game celebration! Most of my thoughts have been covered already but here goes. Injuries forcing Edwards into the starting lineup may have been a blessing in disguise. Not sure if he’s as clutch a shooter as Perry (very few are) but he’s more than capable of replacing his PPG in the stat sheet at the very worst. What an amazing offensive game today. 8 of 10 from Three is absolutely incredible. Allen following Sissouku’s huge WSU defensive/rebounding performance today was awesome. Completely dominant on the boards this afternoon. If those two together can produce like this consistently, we’re gonna be in great shape. So glad Walker is available. Much needed quality depth with Buggs and Jones out. Our challenging OOC play is going to pay dividends for us as the conference season progresses. Last thought - Are we gonna read another opponent fan board thread wondering why such a prolific offense had an “off game”. 😂😂 Holding a team like this to under 60 is a fantastic defensive performance. Great win. Fun day at the Pit. GMG!
  8. I mean isn’t that what we’re talking about with Purdy as well - just with even less data points? To me Morris looks like a better and more accurate passer based on YPC and Completion Percentage. Not sure what’s not to like about his upside in our system? Pavia from NMSU is also interesting.
  9. I agree. WSU’s environment being on campus is much more akin to what we should be building towards. Part of the reason I advocate for a new arena in Denton. Not a fan of those NBA arenas for regular college games like Memphis. They lack campus “soul”. Both Memphis and WSU have long histories of sustained success and passionate, educated fanbases as a result. The new standards for us to strive towards. Aspirational peers.
  10. ???? I mean Mac certainly has an intense coaching style and involvement in the game but I don’t really recall “temper tantrums”. Dude is always engaged and coaching up his players. He’s firey and passionate. Honestly I miss watching him coach. When I had non-UNT friends at the games, they always commented on how fun it was watching him work. Ross has his own style and hopefully it will turn out to surpass Mac’s achievements when it’s all said and done. But he’s not particularly entertaining to watch do his job.
  11. Exactly! For such an engaged and overall educated fanbase, it’s comical that our style manages to sneak up on them. Have to admit that I’m jealous of that arena setup and their fan engagement though. Just like WKU was the SBC/CUSA measuring stick in that regard, we’ve got to up our collective game to meet the new targets - WSU and Memphis in the AAC.
  12. I love the historically good basketball programs having to come to grips with the fact that UNT is a basketball school now. The Wichita fans are big mad after that one. Funny thing is we’ve read versions of that same game thread from similar fanbases many times over the past 6-7 years. It’s almost like our style of play and hard nosed defensive execution has something to do with it?
  13. Great way to start AAC play. Overcame injuries and big time home cooking to get that W.
  14. Really impressed with how the guys are playing on the road. Keep up the pressure and close it out.
  15. The same reason that we built Apogee when we averaged 17,000 fans a game. At least with basketball we hang banners in the rafters with some consistency. Better ROI than football in that regard.
  16. Impressive pull for Rice. Going to be an interesting team to watch next season.
  17. Where are you seeing that we’re last? AAC transfer portal rankings shows us tied for 5th. Overall rankings have us 6th but with a large number of our commits yet to receive a rating.
  18. Didn’t we just offer the freshman All American QB from Tulsa yesterday after he jumped in the portal? Seems like our staff is not set on rolling with what we’ve got. Nor should they be.
  19. C - We’ve got some offensive issues to sort through. I’d like to tinker at the 5 and have Allen get more minutes. Probably swap Edwards into the starting lineup . Hopefully Walker can add a little more depth and an additional perimeter defender. Overall disappointed but not shocked that we’re mediocre. Losing Tylor, Kai, and Abou is a LOT to account for.
  20. Embarrassing 2nd half effort. No confidence right now. The ”Offense” is putrid. Meanwhile the elite AAC teams are beating Top 25 teams. Got our work cut out for us.
  21. We have A LOT of work to do as a team. Not ready for AAC play.
  22. Couple of quality DL portal transfers and a QB and we’re really cooking. Happy with the additions so far.
  23. What rational poster on this board was expecting NY6 from Morris this season? Complete hyperbole there. Vast majority of the fanbase would have been fine with a bowl eligible season. Just don’t lose to scrubby teams like FIU/Navy and fanbase would have been ok. Most are pissed that we fielded the literal worst defense in FBS and wasted a really good year at QB and on offense in general leading to an exodus of our talent on that side of the ball. Hired a staff that forced a defensive alignment change that didn’t fit the personnel. No one forced them to do this.
  24. I seem to recall being concerned that losing our sure thing closer in Perry would be a problem given that our best returners in Scott and Jones, while good players, haven’t show that type of mentality or crunch time production. Assuming new players on the roster would fill that role is always dangerous. Was assured by several on here that Perry was replaceable. Maybe not? Agree on non linear program growth. To this point in the season we don’t look like a top shelf AAC team.
  25. Absolutely brutal. Just a horrible North Texas sports day all around.
