  1. Our crowd has gotten much better at getting involved at the right times over the past several years. It’s why having the students in there en masse is so critical. The crowd cues off of their energy. They basically “give permission” to the older alumni fans to get pumped up and participate. Get the students fired up, and there’s a couple of super passionate pockets of alumni fans around the Pit (everyone knows where they are) that will take the cue and get the rest of the folks around them riled up. Last nights “North Texas” chant was a perfect example of this organically happening. @SUMG & @FirefightnRick their crew fired up from the play on the floor and the students erupting started it at literally the perfect time. Our group on the other side of the Pit returned the chant, students picked up on that, jumped in and boom - best North Texas chant since the La Tech football game when we were undefeated a few years back. It was awesome. Those videos of it going around on social media show me we really can be a difference in the game as a fanbase. Now the trick is getting that kind of crowd engagement game in and game out. I truly don’t get how our fans can go to games like last night, be palpably buzzing after, talking about how badass everything was be so dense as to not figure out we can do that at LITERALLY every home game if we want to.
  2. Just quoting this to say people need to read this over and over again. Organic is the ONLY way to go with this chant. Video cued versions are pathetic and sad.
  3. Man after that brutal 3pt shooting performance @ Charlotte last weekend, having Buggs back tonight as our sniper was a welcome relief.
  4. Pumped for this game. Big opportunity for a statement win! We should have beat them in Denton last season. Interested to see how our new look lineup matches up against them.
  5. Agree that we’ve gotta win the home games but @CMJ is right @FAU is a much bigger game than tonight. Any team currently ranked in the Top 25 automatically trumps a good, cross town rival. Sorry. Not to mention a participant in last season’s Final 4. It’s a monster game for us. SMU isn’t even receiving votes for Top 25 yet.
  6. Yeah - I agree to a certain extent. If you read through the game thread, I pointed out several times how Charlotte’s defense was stout contributing to our self inflicted woes, especially during several key stretches of the game. They straight up beat us. We deserved to lose. That said, many of our threes were open look, uncontested shots that were nowhere close to going down. Edwards especially was forcing things and very undisciplined with the ball leading to turnovers in critical situations where we could have cut the lead to a single possession. As always, when you get dominated, there’s multiple reasons why. Take nothing from Charlotte though. Credit due for handling us pretty easily.
  7. I think that most here acknowledge that AAC is tough and that winning on the road in league play is even tougher. There will be some losses for sure. The justified griping on here is not that we lost, rather HOW we lost yesterday. Out hustled, out efforted, and completely miserable on the offensive side of the ball. Sloppy ball handling, lazy passes, and unforced errors all over the place. Charlotte wanted it more and kicked our ass as a result. Still believe in this team though. Clunkers happen. Just unfortunate timing.
  8. Trust me - I wish we had thousands of fans with your mentality.
  9. Preaching to the choir. I’m at every game unless I’m out of town traveling for work. I just understand the reality of North Texas athletics in general. We can not like it (I don’t) but it doesn’t change the fact that our bandwagonners are fickle.
  10. Just hate that we can’t handle prosperity. Truly the North Texas way. Spit the bit right before a huge showdown with SMU at home.
  11. Totally agree. Our offense has been putrid. It’s not like all those missed 3’s on our end have been contested. Some truly horrible shooting. That said, Charlotte has thoroughly kicked our ass today. We deserve to get beat. Very poor effort.
  12. Credit Charlotte. They’re defending hard, hustling for the loose balls, and hitting key open shots. Meanwhile we can’t hit the broadside of a barn.
  13. So sloppy today. Not impressed with this effort.
  14. Edward’s finding a little something. We can claw back in this
  15. This is miserable
  16. Lack of a PG is really starting to affect us. Teams are adjusting and pressuring the ball more causing mistakes on our end. Tough to watch so far.
  17. Agreed. We need to get healthy in a hurry though. We’re going to get several NET Quad 1 & Top 25 win opportunities in the next couple of weeks. If we wanna get into that Boise fringe At Large/Top 25 calibre team, we’re going to have to take advantage of those. Would be a huge ask running short handed the way we currently are.
  18. I’d also like to thank Robert Allen for validating my shout out to him in the last game thread. What an addition he’s been for the team!
  19. Fighting hard. Those offensive boards were huge
  20. We’re playing with fire now.
  21. We gotta knock down some of these wide open looks we’re getting.
  22. As rough as we’ve looked, I’ll gladly take up 4 at half. Make a few of these open looks in the 2nd half and we could open it up a bit.
  23. Nice. Getting our road legs underneath us now. Defense is starting to frustrate them.
