Breaking News Seth Littrell has been fired.
Green Lantern replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
Man I thought you might have been exaggerating the excruciatingly bad takes on Twitter from non UNT fans about this move. Took a peek. Good lord. Just re-emphasizes that this was the correct and needed move. The “poor little North Texas - should never expect more- lucky to have a .500 coach” mentality has got to go. -
Hope we at least make Gary Patterson say “No”.

I actually advocate for more “downvote” emoji options. I’ll take some Ray votes for my valuable contribution to this discussion.

Unfortunately, he's been out of position on the block a number of times this year, along with missing wide-open looks right at the basket. Chalking it up to lots of pressure on him to produce early with Perry and Jones, not in the lineup. I think he'll get back to last season's form as everyone gets adjusted to the new lineup at full strength. He has the ability to be dominating in the paint.

I thought DJ did a nice job on the broadcast.

Nice W. Perry back eases my first two game concerns. With him facilitating the offense, Kai and Abou don’t have to press so much to try and make things happen. It’s a more natural flow. Still tons of room to sharpen up though. Those long offensive lulls let them hang around when we could have put them away. Defensive effort continues to be great. We’ll continue to get better on that end of the court as well. Great bounce back after disappointment!!

Biggest issue is that nobody can shoot the ball. Our FG % these first two games is atrocious. St Mary’s had a team filled with snipers. We couldn’t make layups.

I’m telling you this was worse. I hate to say that. Truly.

Probably the worst half of North Texas basketball I’ve ever seen.

DRC: Tylor Perry out for season opener
Green Lantern replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
For sure! Only passing along since the board is in mini meltdown from last nights less than desirable performance. -
DRC: Tylor Perry out for season opener

Tylor said he’s playing on Sunday against St. Mary’s. -
I guess I’m not really seeing everyone being cool with the level of play/result of the game in this thread. This game sucked. We’ve got to play better - period. Only positivity of note has been directed towards the Maniacs - and rightfully so. It was very bad tonight. Difference in what you’re suggesting with Benford getting roasted vs Mac coached team getting a pass is that I implicitly trust Grant to get this sorted out quickly. He’s a proven winner at every level. He’s responsible for the best UNT sports memory I have in 26 years following the program. He’s earned a pass and then some in my book. Sue me.

I mean it wasn’t impressive at all. I’ll give you that. But I stared at the NCAA Round of 32 Banner throughout the game with my free Back to Back Championships towel over my shoulder. That’s probably the difference for me in a nutshell.
-
Totally agree. This game was a chore to get through. Edit: The one bright spot was the impressive showing by the Maniacs! Well done there. Bodes well for rest of the season attendance wise if we give them a good product to get into.

Aune Moves Into 4th Place - Career TD Passes
Green Lantern replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
I mean it’s not really defending him to point out that other NCAA leaders in passing statistics also benefit from YAC as well. It’s just part of the game. Acting like other teams don’t scheme high percentage passing plays designed to get the ball to their playmakers in space is disingenuous. Aune has stepped his game up in the last 5-6 games. It’s undeniable. -
My favorites.

Despite The "Negative Waves" for Mr. Aune....
Green Lantern replied to DeepGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
The Memphis game has been tough for me to get out of my mind. Was such a lost opportunity. He has been playing better in recent weeks though. Credit where due.
