I'm sure glad I bothered coming to the board for some pregame chatter... This is the problem with irresponsible journalism...you report something and everyone thinks it's fact. Our athletics *MAY* be in trouble in the future. So could yours, so could Duke's, so could everyone's. Suspension of athletics is such a last resort it's not even worth talking about yet. As for the Katrina stuff...don't go there. Since you guys joined the Belt you've been better than that. Just don't go there.

As soon as attendance starts counting for points on the scoreboard I'll start worrying about it. Only stat that counts: New Orleans 71, North Texas 65. I guess if you can't beat em, might as well make fun of em!

Good analysis of our club. I would add, though, that the embarrassment to ULM should probably worry you a bit more than it is. Since Dykes' return, performances like ULM are the exception and not the rule. We have actually played pretty good ball. Our only other loss was at home against Ole Miss in a game that was up for grabs in the final six minutes. They made the plays down the stretch and beat us in the end when it counted, but we played a good ball game. Coming off that admittedly terrible performance on Friday night I expect our team to play pretty well at home. The Mean Green are certainly the favorites tonight, but I think they'll have to play well to get the win. I don't anticipate UNO gift-wrapping another game immediately following the ULM loss. And regarding Bo...he did have some incredible games against UNT but you guys aren't the only ones happy to see him overseas! Enjoy the game. If any of you end up needing it, our audio is free at wgso.com. Our play-by-play guy is a real treat to listen to.

Coach Champion has been building this program back up from scratch for the last couple years, especially post-Katrina. A few years ago we couldn't bring the ball past half court without turning it over. Now we're able to take a conference road win. Yeah, this was our first road win but we have been REAL close to winning the last few road games. The recruiting really seems to be taking hold and in a year or two I have confidence Champion will have us competing at the top of the West. We could be a real interesting team this year if we can steal another road win or two. Best of luck to you guys.

Does anyone in this league know anything about other conference members? We're playing in the gym because our 10,000 seat gem is still under repairs from Katrina.

30 points (4th 30+ game in his last five), but no game winner tonight. The clutch shots were hit by Kyndall Dykes and Kechan Myers tonight. What a mess this Western race is. Incredible.

Auburn, Alabama, South Carolina, and Georgia are all bad teams. LSU is a terrible team. In the Pac 10, Oregon State is terrible. Washington is bad. The next worst team is Oregon who is not bad at all. Two bad or worse teams in the Pac 10, FIVE in the SEC. UCLA, Stanford, Washington State, USC, Arizona, Arizona State...all VERY good if not great teams at the top of the Pac 10. In the SEC you have Tennessee. Who's #2? Mississippi State? South Alabama beat them. Kentucky? Vanderbilt? Are you really going to compare them to ANY of the Pac 10's Top 6? I can't do it. I've looked into it. The Pac 10 is far superior to the SEC in basketball.

I'm sure he'll torch the Mavericks every chance he gets over the next decade, too. Speaking of the NBA...How bout dem Hornets?!

Which is why I stressed that Jones would be a bad memory rekindled, even if his involvement in the problems were insignificant. I'm not saying he did the wrongdoing. Just that he was there when it all went down and a guy like Grant with absolutely no baggage makes a ton more sense than a guy from their past like Jones. LSU's biggest problem right now is with fan apathy. The fans hated Brady and even though he hasn't done a HORRIBLE job, they stayed away. I don't see Jones being the kind of guy that will ignite the fan base back into LSU hoops. LSU is definitely a step below USC in hoops. USC just moved into an INCREDIBLE on-campus arena last year and the commitment to basketball is far superior at USC than it is at LSU. The talent level sitting right in the middle of Los Angeles means USC could be a player every single year on a national level if you get a good coach (which SC now has.) The Pac-10 is also far superior to the SEC in hoops. LSU's job has potential, but I think USC has been a sleeping giant that Tim Floyd is on his way to awakening real soon.

First of all, Floyd is not going to LSU. He and Brady are friends. NO WAY he goes there after they fired Brady. Especially not since LSU is a pretty significant step down from USC in hoops. On Jones...Jones was at least in some small way involved in putting LSU on probation years ago when he was an assistant there. I doubt they'd have any real serious interest in bringing him back in even IF he had very little to do with the past problems. There are going to be other great candidates like VCU's Anthony Grant that won't come with bad memories of years past.

On behalf of the UNO fans who couldn't be there on a weeknight to see it live, thank you North Texas. That was a very subtle, classy way to handle the accomplishment. It didn't disrupt the game at all, but it was recognized and warmly received by an "opposing" crowd. Great job by the Sun Belt and by UNT. I am NOT looking forward to seeing you guys in early March after this blowout...

Thanks! We're 6-2 all-time at The Pit. Even with our recent struggles, we "should" be very confident tonight. As always, this should be a great one. We've played some classics with you guys the last few years. Tip off should be in about five minutes...

The women's video is now working for me!

Thanks for the kind comments regarding Bo. I do hope that, at the next dead ball after he breaks the mark, it is announced so you guys can give him his ovation. I was hoping he'd do it at home, but it is somewhat fitting it falls against you guys with the games he's played against UNT in the past. Now...somebody get that darn video feed fixed so we can at least SEE it happen. So far, it's been dead all first half of the women's game.

But he IS from the city of New Orleans. He's one of us and we're very proud of what he's done with the Mavericks the last few years and of course what he accomplished as a player for such a long time.
