Thanks JohnDenver, I was going to type a long response as well, but you just said everything I would have. The end result is what matters, in the end. Yeah, usually the pass is more effective when it doesn't hit the ground before getting to the receiver, or thrown behind the receiver. Also, I just LOVED MP's floater of a pass into the end zone with 3 UT defenders right there. Actually, shame on them for not inercepting the ball. I am sure Mack was all over them about that...

Yes, if only we could... On another side note...Mack Brown said we were not even decent "adversity" for his football club. This needs to change...
-
That's great...but: 1. How did MP peform during ACTUAL GAME CONDITIONS, not practice 2. Our OL has been struggling, so if that is the condition for MP to perform well, then... Hope I am wrong here...yes, let's talk after the game...

No reason to change??? Someone help me out here, because maybe my math and analyzation skills stink...but isn't "5 for 6, 65 yards, 80-yard TD drive" better than 22 yards, and just 4 of 13 attempts completed (and no TDs)!?!??!? Seriously, I may not be an expert...but something just is not right here!

Except for Steve Austin, of course, he is getting up there in age but those bionic eyes just do the trick...

Anybody heard yet who it shall be?!?!

On campus building and renovation
NCMeanGreen replied to Mean'n'Green07's topic in Mean Green Football
My wife and I will be bringing the kids down to see Grandma and Grandda (they live in Krum) for Thanksgiving. I am excited about it because I will be going to the NT/FAU game, and will get to see all of the changes. I only get down there every 2-3 years, and I am sure the campus will look a lot different. I really feel like we can compete with just about every other Div I-A school now... -
Reggie Carrington Isiah Thomas

I am pretty sure they called a penalty on that one, unless I am thinking of another time during the game. I know that one UT player got a holding/blocking in the back against Korey Washington at some point in the game...

AMAZING!!! ALL the advantages go to SMU...what a HUGE surprise there!!! I am not sure that is entirely correct...any comments here????
-
You are not playing fair!!! I predict one team will score 21 points, and the other team will score 24 points. Guess I'm not playing nice, either!!!

Sort of off topic...but where did DD get that NT hat he had on??? Kind of liked it but have not seen it on any website. Anyone know???

Arkansas State 10- Oklahoma State 35 FAU 7- Kansas State 35 FIU 3- South Florida 28 MTSU 10- Maryland 35 North Texas 21- SMU 17 Troy 7- Florida State 56 ULL 14- Texas aTm 28 ULM 10- Kansas 21 Maryland actually will probably be a bit worse, but you never know which MD team you will get...

DRC Full article..DD ready to scale back game plan
NCMeanGreen replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
This is CRAZY TALK I am reading!?!? So, DD, you actually come up with a gameplan that includes NOT running the ball (against 8-9 man fronts, no less) 95% of the time, throw the ball some with a little success, and just because you lose to the DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPS you blame it on not running more, throw in the towel, and go back to the run 95% of the time even though ALL defenses will now throw the ENTIRE defense at your line. You've got your featured running back saying he could not do anything because he could not find holes, you basically admit that you cannot effectively throw the ball, and make an announcement to the world that you are going to run it 100% of the time!!! Gee, now what would I do if I were a defense coordinator for all of our remaining opponents!?!? Something like this, "Well, son, I know you are a DB and are used to playing in the defensive backfield, but against NT you will now play 5 yards off the line..." Don't forget, DD, that if not for the pass play we would NOT have scored that TD against Texas. The running play worked good, as well, I know but I do have a valid point there. OK, I take it back...I was not worried about the SMU game until now... -
Who will be the starting QB against SMU?
NCMeanGreen replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
I was going to comment as well, but this is exactly what I would say. I also agreed with whoever said WW had A LOT more confidence (comfidence, for the ASU fan! ) than MP. WW is more mobile, more confident, decent passing...the better option all around. I was actually kind of excited watching him in there. Does anyone know...who does the team prefer???? -
Oh, we've got plenty of "comfidence"... ...We've even got some CONFIDENCE, Jacka@$!!! Good game...the SB could use some more OOC wins.
-
Well, to be fair the grading "rules" were never established. I was grading the defense based on how well they did based on years past. Keep in mind, at least 14 of these points were just "give me" TD's...and the Special Teams really did not help much. I think we actually did play better than the score reflects. That fact is, you cannot play a team like UT and make as many mistakes as we did.
-
It seems like every time we play on TV they always show one of the assistant coaches instead of DD. Even my buddy who is not a NT fan (but has watched most of the TV games) kept saying "Idiots...that's not Darrell Dickey"!!! Just found that hilarious...
-
Defense: A- Offense (with WW): C Offense (with MP): F Special Teams: D (Note: Those low-flying kicks could be a serious liability) I thought the DB's did GREAT, considering! Did not really watch the lines close, but looked like they held their own at times. I REALLY love WW, and think he could be something special for us. Thsi was his first game, and it was UT at that. I honestly think he could slice up teams in the Belt, and make us more competitive for OOC teams in the future. I just like a more mobile QB.
-
I was TRYING to be optimistic!!! OK, so they have better (in total) talent...but I still believe we have recruited better players then, say, 10 years ago, no!?!?!

DRC article on gameQB don't pass test
NCMeanGreen replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
Woody Wilson was the QB at the helm for an 80-yard drive down the field for a TD. He shoudl start...end of story. I did not realize how un-mobile Phillips really was until this game. His passes were either floaters or too short. Also, just not a lot of zip to the ball. If you are not a mobile, running QB then you at least had better be a great passer...
