  1. You know, it is interesting...I was watching the Kentucky/SC game last night and the announcers (and, hey, they are the "experts"...right!??) were discussing the defensive scheme that Kentucky employed against SC. It was an attacking, blitzing, kind of scheme. They were, initially, at least, getting some good pressure on the QB. Now, I know they lost...but I was trying to draw comparisons to their defensive scheme and ours. Seems to be we are NOT aggressive enough...and we defintely do not make adjustments. It is not a perfect science, for sure, but you have to be able to make adjustments in the college game. I wonder, does Mezdoza have experience with multiple (defensive) schemes...and if so, does he know when/how to apply them?
  2. Well, I guess if you can't win games...you better be!!! Seriously, he does speak well and exudes confidence (and without sounding arrogant)...
  3. Oh, this is pathetic! Now I know we have sunk to new lows! I clicked on the Vito Blog link thinking we have just got a commitment from a 4* or 5* recruit or something...or maybe that he was announcing the private funding of the new football stadium... So, that's how it is going to be, huh??? Gonna be a long season folks...
  4. OK...is it EVAN, or EVYN???? I just wanted to add some value to this post!
  5. ESPN Pick 'em (Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso) - UNT vs. ULL Scroll down almost to the bottom... At 0-4: Colorado State, UL-Monroe, and North Texas. Something's gotta give Saturday night at Cajun Field when North Texas rolls into Lafayette. For those of you not all that caught up in watching Florida-LSU or Ohio State at Purdue (ABC, 8 p.m. ET), this tilt will be available on ESPN Regional. Yes, that means that a television truck will in fact be parked outside the stadium and purchasers of the ESPN GamePlan will be able to aim their dishes around the night sky and enjoy the fierce-sounding tussle between the Mean Green and Ragin' Cajuns. This game needs to be picked by Corso and Herbstreit on "GameDay." I will encourage them to do so.
  6. No, seriously, how do you really feel about it? Please don't hold back...give us your straight-up honest opinion on the subject.
  7. Hey, don't worry...TD says he is not worried at all about our defense. There...it is settled...now we can move on...
  8. I could not tell...were you being sarcastic with your post? If so...that was pretty subtle and funny. If not, well...it was still subtle and funny!
  9. Man, those rays of sunshine coming out of your a$$ are blinding me...had to put on my shades! Seriously, I do believe what you are seeing here is a little dose of reality. Until proven otherwise, we have the worst defense in the country, an offense that may have put some points and yardage on the board...yet we are still 0-fer, and coaches that could not make an adjustment if there knickers were in a wad! I think we all would love for us to beat UL-L soundly...but it ain't gonna happen cap'n! GO MEAN GREEN!!!
  10. UNT's Defense:
  11. Yes, yes that worked. Thanks!
  12. It is on the MASN channel (622, I think???) for DirecTV subscribers in the RDU area... And, no, Time Warner Cable still is not carrying MASN...and, yes, I am sick of those dang incessant commercials...
  13. Honestly, I heard TD say that last night during the TD Show...and it worried me then as it does now. How can he NOT be worried about that???? History and example shows that extended losses (and this ugly type of losing) has a negatice effect on a program. That is the reality...losing certainly does not help a program. I also read another thread where someone compared us to the K-State situation. And, yes, WINNING helps a program. (No, I am not trying to be "Captain Obvious" here...) So, while I think he may be trying to say he has a hand at what happens on the field and with his football team...he would be remiss to suggest that this does not worry him at all. I get it...I do realize he is trying to stay strong for the team...leading by example and all...and yes I do appreciate that (to an extent). BUT...that will mean nothing if we only win 2-3 football games over this season and next...
  14. As they say, if you do not like the weather in Texas...wait an hour...
  15. Well, to be fair, for some fans (and I am not saying I am one) it is difficult to pay a ridiculous amount of $$$ for airline tickets, hotel, food, sundry items, etc. just to watch your team get their a$$es handed to them ( a la Tulsa 2005). For a raucous crowd, good action, and the chance to see bodies thrown around, some fans would rather go down to their local Wal-mart for the sell on Beanie Babies and save some $$$... But, alas, I will be there for that Navy game come hell or high water! Come to think of it...at least the Navy will be there if there is "high water"!
  16. So, we have resorted to talking about the weather on the NT FB Board. That says a lot...
  17. OK...please do not bash me here, and let me also add that this is the first TD show I have listened to. But, this seemed to be all fluff stuff...are any of the "tough" questions ever asked? Just curious...
  18. OK...that was pure funny - The very first question during the "ask the coach" session was a NT-SLC comparison!!!
  19. Well, to be fair, I think we are seeing that TD is just a little bit out of his element. He is starting to realize the adjustment it would take going from SLC (sorry, last time I swear! ) to UNT. I am not digging on him, just making an observation. I also believe that Mendoza is WAY OUT of his element as well...
  20. It just started. It will be nice when using the excuse of your opponent being SO much better is no longer a viable excuse. We MAKE ourselves sound like cupcakes... ...frustrating...
  21. Uh...I wouldn't go there my friend ("Not so fast", as Lee Corso would say). That just MAY be our best home game attendance of the year. Unfortunately, it looks like our attendance may drop considerably for the next home game. I hope I am wrong, but...
  22. I have noticed in the recent posts that DD has been defended quite a bit. Will there be a "Bring Back Coach Dickey" campaign now??? Anyway...we need to move on from either bashing or defending DD and focus on the current coaching staff.
  23. Yes, I thought those were good points from Ty Willingham as well...
