When does Football Season start???

I know I have said this many times on this board, but after talking to Coach Chico I have to say that I REALLY think that he is a GREAT guy...and think he would be an awesome coach for the Mean Green. GO MEAN GREEN!!!

I am a huge fan of Coach Canales...I think he is awesome and would not object to him being our next HC. However, and in the spirit of objectivity, here are my responses: 1. YES 2. He must beat Troy, MTSU, AND ULM. Basically he must win out within the SB games. I believe that everyone understands that, realistically, we do not have a chance to beat KSU...so he should pretty much get a pass here (However, something like 65-3 would not look all that great and would immediately disqualify him from the running I believe) 4. I think there will be more discipline...because I feel the players respect Coach Canales as the HC more than they did TD. Also, I do think the players will be in a much better position now that we have someone that can make the necessary in-game adjustments. 5. Yes. I think TD recruited for his system at Southlake. However, this is not HS ball...this is Div I-A ball. We saw a lot of these players not succeed here at NT. Further, TD did not have an interest in defensive players (way too many WR recruits the first couple of years) until it was too late. Canales will recruit better because he has the experience of knowing the type of player to recruit for this level of play. 6. I guess I would take Deloach back. Beyond him, all other coaches can go unless they are GREAT recruiters. Seems like Coach Gandy has recruited well?? And maybe the D-Line coach is ok?? 7. YES, Coach Canales IS a legitimate candidate right now. 8. Again, I really like Coach Canales a lot...and would love to see him succeed here at NT. Plus, I LOVE the fact that he WANTS to be here...I am hearing all of the right things thus far.

No, gain some HC experience and then maybe we will talk. BTW, technically Coach Chico DOES have HC experience now. And the win to prove it...

I met Coach Canales before the Army game, and really enjoyed talking to him. He seems like a great guy...VERY passionate about NT and football...and I believe he definitely deserves a shot to be our next HC at NT. GO MEAN GREEN!!!

Coach Fran interviewed for both the UNLV and San Diego State jobs as well...but was not selected for either job. But, that does tell me he is interested in getting back into coaching...and would not be adverse to a non-BCS job. Good hire??

Know this will not gain me many popularity points, but... I am not sure I understand all of the fascination with Major Applewhite?? Seems like just yesterday I was watching him as an ok QB for UT. Has he really been THAT amazing since to warrant his name in the ring for a HC position in Div IA,,,especially for a program looking for a candidate with actual HC experience?? Seems like we always seem to want the sensational hire. TD was the same phenomenon. Everyone seemed to be so excited about the possibility of him being a candidate. There was dancing in the streets when he got the job I tell you!!! Remind me again...how did all that turn out?? My point is that maybe we should focus on qualified candidates...not the sensational ones. We need someone who is qualified to be our HC...that has actual HC experience...and the experience to take a program in our situation and turn it into a winner.

With all of the chatter about the new HC...there has been absolutely no talk about the team. So, who are we playing this week??
