  3. Wow! Great news.
  4. Cal Baptist? Never heard of it but it appears they are in the WAC.
  5. Wow this is rough tonight... 15 points at half 🥺
  6. Wow Bassey is going to be tough.
  7. Haven’t stayed there but have heard it is very nice. Very much looking forward to our game there.
  8. It sounds like they feel very good about Shaw but I hear you - my preference would be they address that position every year.
  9. It would be interesting to see the amount of jucos and transfers by C-USA teams in their final 2019 class and past classes. It’s very clear to me that Littrell prefers to build through the high school ranks. I have always believed in this method too IF you are getting good quality, develop and maintain good retention. That said, I felt like we struggled at times last season against teams that were juco / transfer heavier such as UAB and of course Utah State. I think there are some instances where you need to go heavier juco at particular positions.
  10. He has the reputation of being a top shelf recruiter and been at some big places so he can certainly evaluate talent. Nice pickup!
  11. He was the best we ever had... huge loss 😞
  12. Fantastic news! Thank you Brint!!
  13. What an amazing gift! Many thanks to Mr. Ryan for his generosity.
  14. It will be Coach Cobbs from now on! 😀
  15. Cobbs press release: Cobbs Joins Mean Green As RBs Coach DENTON - North Texas head football coach Seth Littrell announced Monday that former Mean Green and NFL running back Patrick Cobbs has been named the Mean Green's running backs coach. “I’m very excited to bring Patrick Cobbs into our program as a running backs coach,” Littrell said. “He has an incredible understanding of the position, but more than that, he has been coached by some of the best coaches in the game, and has developed a keen understanding of how to teach and communicate his knowledge. The fact that he is one of the best to ever play the position at North Texas and he had a successful NFL career, gives him the credentials that everyone in our running backs room will respect. He is the perfect candidate for this position and I can’t wait to get him started.” Cobbs will oversee a group of talented backs that were paced last season by DeAndre Torrey. The Mississippi native was in his first season in Denton and averaged 5.6 yards per carry and scored 15 rushing touchdowns (18 total). Torrey, a second team all-conference performer, ranked seventh in FBS in total touchdowns. Cobbs joins the Mean Green staff following five seasons as the running backs coach at Denton Ryan High School and has learned under head coaching legends Bill Belichick and Nick Saban throughout his six-year NFL career. The Shawnee, Oklahoma, native appeared in 54 games, all with the Miami Dolphins. Cobbs was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the New England Patriots in 2006 before being traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He then joined the Dolphins later that season, making his NFL debut that season. Following six seasons with the Dolphins, Cobbs signed with the New Orleans Saints ahead of the 2011 season, but did not appear for the team due to injury. Cobbs was a four-year letterwinner during his playing career at North Texas (2001-2005) where he was the program’s second-leading rusher. He finished with 4,050 rushing yards on 818 carries with 36 rushing touchdowns in 48 career appearances. Cobbs was the nation’s leading rusher in 2003, posting 1,680 yards for the Mean Green and was part of four bowl teams with North Texas.
  16. Good news. Patty is a beloved UNT player who is a super hard worker. He is a UNT success story in he made it to the league. Jennings is an outstanding recruiter that has been to some very big places and been very successful.
  17. Good summary but I still think the offensive line recruiting and development is the biggest hurdle the program has to address before moving to the next level.
  18. Great stuff! Yes I’d say losing defensive tackle Joe Greene would raise a question mark on 69 defense lol!
  19. Not a problem! Welcome to the site. Good to have you here. GMG
  20. Good info- can’t blame him as USC OC is a big time gig and $$ where he will get to work with some great QB talent. Best of luck to Coach Harrell and his family! Much appreciate his efforts and results while here. Pur coaches moving to greener pastures is a good thing BTW. Hasn’t always been the case. Now we gotta find a good replacement! GMG!
  21. Will the UNT version of MM please stand up!
  22. Agreed, USC is struggling right now but it is still USC and like many big programs before them - Baylor and Penn State come to mind - they will be back sooner than later.
  23. Man we need some 3s
  24. I honestly believe if his stock had not blown up late and Texas A&M had not offered he may be wearing green and playing a lot more football. i can’t exactly recall but I sense it was around the time A&M was losing both of their 5-star QB’s that they grabbed him late in the game... I remember being disappointed when I heard A&M was offering him cause I thought we had a shot.
