  1. Harry, JD and GMG24 talk about Spring practices, the revamped football staff as well as the latest on recruiting. They also discuss the WBI success for Women's BBall and take questions from fans on the gomeangreen.com site.
  2. Like seeing dline commits! Welcome Jamal!
  3. #2 the Big 12 and if Texas OU bolt at the next TV contract factor seems to me to be our next best shot to make our case for new conference inclusion. If Texas and OU bolt for greener pastures we could very well have a chance to join up with the left overs. The challenge is we have to win and build attendance facilities now to be best positioned for when that time comes. Fact of the matter is C-USA is no cake walk for us and we have to do better in all major sports. We are making progress but the goal should be to dominate in C-USA and win championships every year.
  4. The private schools SMU, Tulane, Tulsa had a good plan when they formed the original C-USA. They said we are going to form a conference that best protects our interests. For years they used that conference to differentiate from the Sun Belt etc. the AAC is just the next phase of that strategy. Look at the AD budgets and coaching salaries facilities etc in the AAC. They are a step above what you see in CUSA. In my mind our goal for now is we have to get everything we can up to the AAC level and beyond. When realignment comes, we need to be well positioned for the next grouping. SMU will always be an issue but if we can raise our value in the eyes of the other schools and who knows maybe even build some new bridges with SMU we could be given fair consideration.
  5. Here is the bad news: If you’re a program that needs to compete against an AAC school for coaches, recruits, or a coveted New Year’s Six bowl spot, that job just got much harder over the next few years. That additional $5 million a year for the AAC could go a long way towards facilities or coaching upgrades that you might not be able to afford.
  6. Also keep in mind they have a solid basketball league: “After all, the AAC sent four teams to the NCAA Tournament this year, more than the Pac-12, and the same number as the Big East.”
  7. Looks like part of it is due to generating ESPN+ 4.99 a month revenue: Football and men’s basketball will remain on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU, but the majority of basketball games and about half of the football games will go to ESPN+. Other live sports including baseball, softball and soccer also will air on ESPN+. link: https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2019/3/19/18273232/aac-television-deal-espn-conference-realignment
  8. This is absolutely correct. Part of it is personnel but part of it is strategy and execution. With Fines quick release we really should not have that many sack issues. I also think Jeffery Wilson his a lot of the lines issues.
  9. Wow —.both teams are Big, athletic can shoot lights out..... Interesting perspective. I realize they are cream of crop AAC but I am impressed. Especially Cincy.
  10. No it really wasn’t. They were very fortunate to get an extra year of eligibility for Mayfield. Imagine if they hadn’t? It’s a tough position (o-tackle) for any p5 for sure and it has always been a struggle for UNT dating back to Simon and Dickey. It seems to me that the plan has been to try and develop HS players with a few jucos and transfers sprinkled in. I just don’t believe that strategy is working. I think at certain positions you have to go heavy juco and transfer to ensure that you have a better shot to address the critical importance of a serviceable o-line.
  11. I think @BillySee58 is spot on as usual. To me it is a recurring theme for football basketball heck any sport that we participate in. We just have to recruit better athletes. WKU has more of them last night. Yes injuries can play a part for sure but that hits all of the programs. Given our location and facilities there is no reason we can do better in this regard. It is just going to take more work and support. We need to hire good coaches who can recruit. We need to up the recruiting budgets and do everything we can (academic support, facility improvements etc) to get the very best student athletes.
  12. Let’s win this thing!!
  13. Disappointing loss. Back to the drawing board.
