Not that they will beat us but ACU seems to be trending up this year as well. the 2019 schedule looks tough as hell to me especially with the pieces we lost on defense. SMU will be improved, Cal is better than Ark was and we played down to competition last year so games like UTSA Charlotte and heck even UTEP could be tougher than we think.

DRC: Regents to consider new contract for Littrell soon
Harry replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
That’s exactly what I am hoping for. Make it hard for Seth to take a lower level p5. Make the assistant budget to where you are getting top notch guys even if there is turnover because guys are moving up the food chain. -
DRC: Regents to consider new contract for Littrell soon
Harry replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
This is always good news when you see the school up the ante on coaching salaries. Clearly everyone knows Littrell is a hot commodity and any way we can minimize that issue through extending his contract and coaching salaries the better. You have to think the other schools will try to use Littrell’s future job prospects against us in recruiting ie “he won’t be there long.” Let me again be clear - this is a MUCH better situation that Dan McCarney “he will be there forever”. We lost 5 assistant coaches this last cycle and most went to greener pastures which is a good sign for the program. Still you would like to make it tougher for them to leave and try to incentivize them to stay. Couple of interesting Asst salary notes: Clay Jennings is making $140k for us — at Houston last year he made $250k. Galen Scott made $308k at Va Tech - he makes $145K with us. Would love to see where our total coaching and AD compensation and how it compares to other C-USA as well as other conferences ie AAC, MWC and Sun Belt. -
In case you missed it: Link: https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2019/4/8/18289189/houston-cougars-football-2019-preview-schedule-roster Houston Cougars Head coach: Dana Holgorsen (first year) 2018 record and S&P+ ranking: 8-5 (64th) Projected 2019 record and S&P+ ranking: 6-6 (73rd) Five key points: Houston made good on its word. Two years after the UH president said “We’ll fire coaches at 8-4,” UH fired Major Applewhite at 8-5. UH plucked WVU’s Dana Holgorsen to basically coach the Coogs like a Big 12 team. They will certainly have a Big 12-level offense this year. QB D’Eriq King, a potential 3,000/1,000 guy, returns almost his entire skill corps, from WR Marquez Stevenson to RB Patrick Carr. The defense is as dire as the offense is exciting. New DC Joe Cauthen has to address depth issues in the front seven and a smoking crater at CB. The schedule features six relative tossups. The defense being merely mediocre instead of terrible could make the difference between 7-5 and 10-2.

There’s a chance that college football could have a standardized injury report for the 2019 season. According to CBS Sports, an NCAA committee formed in the wake of sports gambling legislation could soon propose that college sports adopt a basic injury report that lists players as “available,” “possible” and “unavailable.” If approved the pilot program would be implemented for the 2019 football season. https://sports.yahoo.com/report-ncaa-could-test-out-standardized-football-injury-reports-in-2019-005423644.html

PG - JR Javion Hamlet G - SR Roosevelt Smart G - JR James Reese F - JR Abdul Muhammed - • Averaged 15.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last season F - JR Zachary Simmons @BillySee58 I liked your list but just switched out Geu with Muhammed on a whim. My thinking is you have Geu who is used to being the 6th man and Umoja to come off the bench depending on what you need. I also could easily see Umoja start in place of Bell. Jackson would be the backup PG. I am really intrigued with Muhammed as he was a juco all american before redshirting with us last season and I have heard he can shoot the three ball pretty well and has been impressive in practices. It’s certainly an intriguing lineup of players. If there was one thing I wish we still had was a bruiser down in the paint. I’d hoped Arikawe would be that for us. I don’t know that Geu or Muhammed are either. People don’t realize how great a rebounder Ryan was. I’m hoping Bell can help with that.

20' QB Offer: Eli Williams, Sapulpa, OK - not rated
Harry replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
He sort of looks like the TCU QB that just transferred out. -
Agree they are unproven but the talent level is much higher.and deeper in my opinion than what we have had as backups in the past.

Agree Billy - Geu’s commit and also Muhammed being back gives us some size options we did not have last year. -
Good looking prospect.

I see where you’re going but damn man we are pretty stacked at that position as odd as that sounds to say at North Texas (thank you SL)...

DRC: Woolridge expected to make decision soon on future
Harry replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
He’s earned the right to do whatever he wants but selfishly I would love to see him finish up here. -
DRC: Woolridge expected to make decision soon on future
Harry replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Hope like heck Woolridge stays because if healthy he is the best player on the team... but either way I like the direction McCasland seems to be heading with the recruiting pick-ups. Then again - why would Hamlet come here with all the options he had unless he thought he would get a lot of playing time? And Jalen Jackson is also a PG... We will find out soon enough! -
Blowing up wow!

Two great commits sure seem to point that way. Seems like we’ve been that way since the CBI run but these two seem to confirm it.
