  1. Appreciate the update. Any thoughts on how the AAC proceeds? Consensus is always "we don't need anyone else" but I wonder if that holds true for schools like Temple in the East.
  2. Johnson is No. 24 in The Oklahoman’s Super 30 rankings of the state’s top college recruits in the 2020 class. As a linebacker entering his senior season, he is committed to North Texas. Johnson has grown from a 185-pound freshman to a 220-pound, 6-foot-4 team leader, but before he added size, he had a trait Hall noticed: steadiness. His dependability and even-keeled nature are leading him to a Division I program in Denton, Texas. Johnson committed to the Mean Green on June 12, a few days after his campus visit. When he toured schools, he recognized each university would showcase its best features, but North Texas stood out from the rest because it included his family in the experience. read more: https://oklahoman.com/article/5635161/the-oklahomans-super-30-midwest-city-linebacker-jacobi-johnson-plays-with-no-fear
  3. New technology will soon join the fight against credit card theft thanks to an invention by The University of North Texas Cyber Forensics Technology Lab, headed by Scott Belshaw, an associate professor in the Department of Criminal Justice, along with Michael Saylor, president of Cyber Defense Labs. 4. I am certain UNT Gabe them this option.
  5. The revenue game within the game of college football is every year moving farther and farther away from the second-tier Group of 5 schools. Their chances of ever making serious money are nil. The AAC and Mountain West colleges will tread water or worse. Meanwhile, the Mid-American, Conference USA and Sun Belt are like sharecroppers, forever beholden to the SEC and Big Ten and their guarantee games, chasing their tails in a hopeless spiral. As for those who partook of the crazy race to catch the Power Five train, it’s time to relent. UConn’s surrender is a sign. It’s time for the tsunami to move back out to sea and allow the damage to be assessed. In the case of Connecticut and Temple and schools like them, it’s a crossroads. UConn’s choice seems to be clear. Maybe Temple will also move back to its neighborhood and the Atlantic 10 where it belongs and concede that the dream of FBS football is a hollow pipe. read more: https://www.pennlive.com/sports/2019/06/with-return-to-big-east-uconn-raises-white-flag-in-chase-for-power-five-status-temple-should-do-the-same.html
  6. So true Rick... and why ultimately? I think UNT wants the business to go to their restaurants (ie profit centers). That place had a lot of sentimental value to many of us. I am torn though as for WAY too long we all complained about how crappy the front entrance of the college was to I35 and it now appears they are changing that and without eminent domain it would never happen. NY Subs knows they will lose this but they are trying to negotiate a better cash settlement for the property. They are being paid market rates which can get lost in all of the emotion. For that matter - we don’t really know whether or not UNT tried to work out a deal to keep it there... it could be that NY Subs was being stubborn about it.
  7. You can say/think that if it makes you feel better but the truth is we are both outside the “club”. I admire what Houston has accomplished but they of all programs know how it feels to be left out of the “club”.
  8. You raise a good point @keith Why not put all the Florida schools (FIU UCF USF FAU) in an eastern division or conference and put the Texas schools (UNT, UTEP, SMU, HOUSTON, RICE, NUT-SACK) in a New SW conference? let the east schools like Temple, Old Dominion, MUTS Cincy WKU etc join together and make for a more regional type of conference. There has to be some way to allow for G5 to build more regional rivalries. The reason SMU has such crappy attendance is no one care about many of the teams they play just like we have issues with attendance against MUTS FAU etc.
  9. Outlook: Wilcox led Cal to its first bowl appearance since 2015 in just his second season in charge of the program. The turnaround resulted in a spike in recruiting, with the Golden Bears landing their second consecutive top 50 class. If this program is going to take that next step, it will need to fix its offensive woes. The team lacked big-play capabilities, with just one offensive play spanning 60 or more yards. The defense should be strong again, which will help take pressure off the developing offense. read more: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/college-gridiron-365/os-sp-college-football-rankings-cal-0628-20190629-4fsbf6fiefcchmce6ptdck3imq-story.html%3foutputType=amp
  10. Closest conference opponent for Temple is now East Carolina... ouch!
  11. I don't see that happening for the same reason the AAC won't add anyone... greed of the current members. You add that many teams and there will be less money for the current members. They don't give two $hits about improving the league or the future of the league which is sad. Anyhoo, the question you must ask yourself is would you be ok with us being the ONLY team added to the MW and that would be more realistic in my mind. They would like to have a team in Texas no doubt and DFW is closer to most of their schools than Houston.
  12. Harry, JD and GMG24 discuss the most recent group of 3-star rated North Texas football commits and the positive impact this current #UNTamed20 class is having on attracting other great prospects. After delving into the details on each of the latest commits, along with other prospects on the radar, the boys answer some interesting fan questions posed by the gang at GoMeanGreen.com. They also jump in on UConn leaving the AAC and the impact it could have on conference realignment. Direct Audio Link: http://traffic.libsyn.com/gomeangreen/GMG_Recruiting_Pod_6.26.19_mixdown.mp3

  14. Colorado State doing some damage in Texas this year.
  15. Historical Trivia Question: Once upon a time we had a very good juco tight end from California. Played in 1997-1998 in the Big West days. 5th all time in career sacks and had 13 in 1997 tying him for #2 in all time single season record with Roderick Manning (1989). _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
  16. Agreed but it is also in a very dangerous town. They also are like SMU and have 10 people watching their games. There are pluses and minuses to every school that is for sure.
  17. What are the odds of having 2 Asher’s on one football team?
