UTEP football will bring in two additional junior college quarterbacks to shore up the position after uncertainty surrounding incumbent Kai Locksley. The Miners have added New Mexico Military Institute quarterback Gavin Hardison – who will have four years to play three seasons – and Cerritos (CA) quarterback Isaiah Bravo. “They’ve been here competing during the summer, and both of those guys could challenge for playing time this year,” Dimel said. Hardison finished No. 2 nationally with 5,347 passing yards at Hobbs High School in New Mexico. He completed 68.6 percent of his passes and threw 59 touchdowns to just nine interceptions as a senior. This is a totally different SMU team than what we faced last year. They have dramatically improved their QB position with Buchelle. Color me worried about this game especially on the Hilltop.

Coach Doc is right -- this league is as good top to bottom as it has ever been.

Try running at QB in the NFL for any significant time and see what happens. I put Fine's passing, release and decision making up against either of them.

That's not a fair ranking in my opinion. Add this guy to a long list of non-believers. Or is it something else. Could it be they perceive more clicks if they provid coverage of bigger school or P5 QB's. Cause the size thing is horseshit, look at the last two OU QB's that went to the NFL they were both Fine's size...

Loren should have a good shot to get his starting job back as you aren’t supposed to lose those due to injury. I expect they will get some reps for Torrey as well as Nick Smith and the kid from Arkansas.

I was also at Woodhill. There was a fire and I smelled like a smokestack for a semester. They were older but pretty nice and had a good pool. Pace’s Crossing was the top one back in the day cause they were new.

Dorm, apartment, house, commute etc and what vicinity etc? on campus / off campus, concrete city, by the mall etc... I'm interested to see how many more are staying on campus as opposed to off these days. thx and GMG!

Couple of thoughts -- Woodrow is getting more notice as of late but it is not typically considered a bell cow school in DISD as say Skyline, Carter etc. So not as many eyes on him there. That seems to be changing though as Woodrow is churning out some good players. He is now transferred to Dallas Madison. DISD is pretty crazy as you can basically transfer easily from school to school. So it can be harder to keep tabs on players there. He also jumped on the radar screen his junior year with 6 interceptions, including one pick in the 1st series of a road win against Frisco. He also ran a 4.56 at a recent camp and was on the area champions relay team in track... He switched to Dallas Madison after his junior season at Woodrow and turned out to be a good basketball player as Madison would go on to win the state 3A championship over Brock. Tavorice came off the bench in one game and scored 18 points. His offer list was not stellar but he did show a Liberty offer which in my opinion carries some clout -- Hugh Freeze landed there and they have tons of money to hire quality assistants. I suspect Liberty will be raising their recruiting prowess significantly while Freeze is there. At first, Tulsa won. Roberts committed to the Golden Hurricane on May 17. North Texas, the first school he visited, had always been a possibility, but it wasn’t a frontrunner. Then the Mean Green offered him a scholarship on June 1. When Roberts returned to Denton, Texas, for another visit, he had a new perspective. As he immersed himself in the UNT environment, he faced a dilemma. Although he liked Tulsa, multiple factors drew him toward the Mean Green. He could envision himself in the lineup as a tight end. He learned about the indoor practice building that is under construction, part of a plan to elevate UNT athletics, and the program’s culture appealed to him. How He Got Here: Guyton went undrafted and signed with the Cowboys shortly after the draft. A speedy Texas native, Guyton was a journeyman through his college career. He redshirted at Notre Dame, spent a season at Trinity Valley Community College in Texas, and finished his career playing receiver for the University of North Texas his final two seasons. Just up the road at UNT, Guyton averaged over 15 yards per catch with 15 touchdowns in those two seasons.
