I do get your point but Arkansas State has a good program and they have gone to like 8 straight bowls. That was an impressive win for SMU on the road.

Looks like SMU's 4-star Notre Dame transfer CJ Sanders won the AAC special team player of the week for his performance against State. Reff puts the corners on the island so getting beat can and will happen. Also I thought our pass rush disappeared at times which left him exposed. He made a ton of tackles in that game at least one I saw prevented a TD.

I think what he was trying to say is these games for teams like SMU and UNT early in the year are so critical because they affect attendance and interest in the program for the remainder of the season. This is a weird season because most of our big rivalry type important games all seem to be bunched up at the beginning of the season.

Thanks Coach. He looked pretty solid and had some good hands. Good for him. He seemed to come out of nowhere to be involved in a lot of the key plays in that game.

One other note - at halftime they did an excerpt on the A-State new state of the art locker room... man we may need to look at their vendor because they looked awesome. Each player has their picture on an HD TV screen. Big plus for them in recruiting.

Made it through the first half. Buchele (30-49, 360 yards 1 int) The good: Super accurate, good touch on long ball, for his 1st game seems to have a good grasp of Sonny's offense. VERY quick release, maybe not Fine quick but close. Huge improvement over what we saw last season. The bad: He's not a runner, but he will once in awhile just to keep you honest. Not a big guy. Threw an early int where he was trying to force it in under pressure. Does not do well with pressure. Seems to like to roll to his right side a lot. They seems to be moving to a bigger back in Kemon Freeman who is 220 and had 83 yards on 22 carries. Xavier Jones is the speed switch up guy for them like Nic Smith for us and he had 56 yards. Proche and Roberson are damn good receivers, Proche is the speedster, and Roberson is the big one with soft hands. TE and Rice transfer Kyle Granson looks like a good player to watch out for. OLine is big. our d-line need to get ready this will be a physical test. Right tackle #57 Coby Bryant is susceptible to speed rushers. Defense is pretty quick. Holding A-State to 9 at half (2 from safety) is impressive. Their pass protection looked strong as the A-State QB was always searching for someone to get open. Pass rush was mediocre. Field goal kicker Robledo #39 looks pretty solid with 3 FG's in one half of play.

I am watching this SMU ASU game tonight and I figure others are as well. I figured we could start a thread on it to get everyone impressions. Funny on the 1st play. - a kickoff return from SMU - the announcer says this guy originally played for Notre Dame before transferring to SMU.. They have so many transfers it’s really going to be interesting to see how this game plays out.

The impression is that SMU has eclipsed us albeit early. We just didn’t handle ACU as everyone thought we should it appears.

Saw this guy in the game a lot. Looks like he transferred from Harding but played for Argyle. Listed as a redshirt junior but did not play in 2018. Anyone know the scoop or did he just buy Reeder some brownies?
