  1. Thanks for your kind comments. We appreciate any positive feedback.
  2. Wish we had a quality backup PG which is what supposedly what White-Pittman was to bring. I'm guessing Brown is that guy for now.
  3. I think some of you are missing my point. For years RV through the SID pressed for us to be referred to as North Texas in all sports media and the NCAA. Of course there will always be those who refer to us as North Texas just like there are some old farts that still call us the dreaded "North Texas State". My proposal is to change that to UNT. Just like SMU and TCU and UT and A&M and many many others. Let's put our resources behind one moniker instead of two.
  4. My sources say he can play. Will have to see once he hits the court but it seems promising.
  5. agree 100%. I would have thought our Talons - which there are quite a few on here - would have been more welcoming. @CMJ being the exception as his response was very supportive.
  6. I can tell you from my kids and other younger folks I talk to I know that UNT is the way they refer to us. Jackson won the overall battle on advertising and every billboard was UNT for decades now... I just wonder if it wouldn't be prudent to stick with it. Here in DFW we already have TCU and SMU so it seems to me UNT may be a good fit. It makes no sense to see "North Texas" on espn scoreboard and UNT on every billboard if you get my drift. Pick one and stick with it. Use the new chancellor hire to reinforce it.
  7. RV was a big proponent of using "North Texas" with our athletics program. Chancellor Lee Jackson preferred UNT. Given the negative stigma associated with "directional" schools, is it now time that we get behind UNT as our school name for athletics? RV and soon Jackson are gone. This seems like a good time to pick one, rebrand and stick with it. Thoughts?
  8. Good stuff @BillySee58 So based on our roster being full with the player as you indicate -- what does the starting lineup look like now? Assuming Combs is back and we retain everyone...
  9. I really like this pickup. He looks like a guy who could rebound and defend in the paint. Guy seems very athletic and was productive at a high JC level. Welcome Tope!
  10. http://www.scout.com/college/arkansas-state/story/1713535-tikhonenko-commits Tikhonenko, who has been in the United States for two years, plays what he calls a stretch-4 and sometimes the small forward spot. This past summer he played for Russian U-16 team and practiced with the U-18 team. He is the son of Valeri Tikhonenko, who won a gold medal with the USSR team in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, S. Korea. Like his father, who was drafted twice by the Atlanta Hawks, he is a deadly long-range shooter. His dad Valeri, who is now a general manager for a pro team in Spain, played professional ball in Europe and in Russia.
