I like that they are making it similar to Apogee in terms of the look.

Basketball Programs Launch Season-Ticket Campaign

That's a Shame because it was not always that way. -
If what Munz says is right, and UTSA wins the whole chalupa, we might need to get some group therapy sessions set up in here.
-
they were 5-7 last season so there is some pressure on him to win. Their schedule is tailor made to win big though. They have 7 home games and their bodybag game is TCU. They have TCU, SFA, us and Arkie State in non conference.

yeah I noticed that too. SMU is flat out stacked this season. That Arkansas transfer Peavey is good too.

DCTF Top 50 Impact Players - #6 Mason Fine
Harry replied to AustinFromUNT's topic in Mean Green Football
I think it's a valid pick. Fine exceeded our expectation by a mile. He played well but will be much improved this season. I do question why the staff would go in so green behind him though. Seems like they are taking a pretty big risk by not bringing in a transfer or juco as highlighted in this article. -

Can't you find an Arkansas QB and leave ours alone? -
North Texas Will Struggle To Fly In Loaded Conference USA
Harry replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
A little harsher language than I might have used but you do make a valid point. The whole "Sleeping Giant" description has grown old and doesn't carry the same weight it did back a decade ago. Hells Bells, we have been playing football for over a hundred years now folks! Even Rip Van Winkle woke up in 20! That said, I have stated on here multiple times, UNT didn't really get serious about football until they hired Mac and opened Apogee. Mac was paid a LOT more than anyone prior and so were his assistants. The problem was, we had underfunded and ignored it for so long these were just steps to get us back to breakeven -- if that. We finally seem to "GET IT" and have put real resources and attention to this goal. I believe Dr. Smatresk seems to really understand the importance of it and unlike prior presidents is not just giving it lip service. Hopefully the new chancellor will be a pro athletics voice as well because Lee Jackson just wasn't. Now we seem to have a good AD and coaches in place -- albeit time will tell. We seem to be putting our money where out mouth is on salaries, and buying out contracts, etc. There are good signs, real encouraging things that should give us hope. But I understand that some may still be skeptical and honestly I think that is where a lot of our potential fanbase is right now and rightfully so. We've heard these things before only to be disappointed with the results. BUT BACK TO UTSA -- one of our biggest issues over the past two decades is we haven't really even had a true rival. Rivalries are very important for growing programs. Some feel like it is beneath us to have UTSA as a rival and I disagree. In fact I see UTSA as more of a natural rival than any other team at this particular time. They basically ruined our 2013 season at home. It was one of the poorest coached games I have seen and it still sticks in my craw to this day. I don't understand why the importance of this game never got to Mac and really didn't seem to big a big deal to Littrell either. -
Jalen Guyton - North Texas Guyton took a one year detour from a Midwestern power before landing in the metroplex. Guyton signed with Notre Dame out of Allen High School but transferred a year into his Irish adventure. He landed at Trinity Valley where he was labeled the third best JC receiver in the country. Guyton brings a physicality, not only in his size, but also in his temperament to the receiver position. He goes and gets 50/50 balls and is very good after the catch. Guyton enrolled this spring and made an immediate impact. North Texas lost four of its top five pass catchers from 2016 so Guyton will be called on early read more: https://swcroundup.com/news/2017/7/10/top-5-roundup-impact-transfers?utm_content=bufferc02da&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Looks like an olineman to me. Welcome aboard Jordan! UNT = Where the Red Fearn Goes!

You're still scarred from our Houston trip. At least you got to experience James Comey Island and draft beers in the stadia you ungrateful basterd. Yes we laid down in the game but there were positive aspects.

I agree if it's just weed let's cut some slack.

At UTSA Frank Wilson has taken the Roadrunners on a historic eighteen month ride which included a first ever bowl trip, the best recruiting class in school history, and a brash approach to going up against the big boys for the top talent in the state. They have the most experienced squad in CUSA and the talent to win the league. Perhaps they can even pull ten plus wins out of 2017. Don't be shocked if they do. They might also take down that Power-5 school that resides in Waco. Make no mistake, Wilson is big game hunting. Their neighbors and rivals up I-35, North Texas, hired a relative unknown in Seth Littrell who inherited one of the worst roster situations in college football and took the Mean Green to a bowl game. Get in on North Texas now, because once Littrell gets more of his pieces in place they're going to be one of the most exciting teams in CUSA. DRC: Key newcomers rundown: No. 2 -- English could be a star
Harry replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Interesting note on English Inwasnt aware of. He is the godson of UNT letterman Bruce Chambers. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/college-football-recruiting/2013/3/30/4164936/bryce-english-commits-texas-longhorns-football-recruiting-2015 He evidently committed early to UT under them coach Mac Brown. My guess is that in the regime change he ended up changing to K-State. I never was exactly clear as to why he decided to move to K-State but they were thrilled to land him late -- here's a link to his commit to KSU: http://www.kansas.com/sports/college/big-12/kansas-state/k-stated/article9257117.html -

Look at even th b st offensive plays by Fine last year. Much of it was his adjustments to a line that was being penetrated extremely early. to me it's all on the oline and the 1b is Fine's QB IQ development. If he can use QB draws and quick outs to beat the rush he will aid the oline and keep the defense honest. -
Good to see indeed!

He's got a great shot. Enjoying watching him compete. Interesting they said he was concerned he was going to lose his scholarship and then excelled with two C-USA championships. Fun watching this! -
Said that he almost thought the coach at UNT was going to pull his scholarship and then proceeded to win two CUSA championships. Pretty amazing story.
