It’s interesting, Primous’ film looked pretty impressive. I think you have to understand the the player picks the clips as where the coach gets t see an entire body of work. I like his nose for the ball and seems to have good closing speed.

DRC: Three reasons UNT could be better in 2018
Harry replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
The defense is most certainly the issue next year. You gotta have faith that they understand this and are addressing it accordingly. -
Arizona has reached an agreement to hire Kevin Sumlin as coach, as first reported by SiriusXM and confirmed by ESPN. Sumlin was 51-26 in six seasons at Texas A&M. Before coaching the Aggies, Sumlin was 36-17 in four seasons at Houston, including a 13-1 record in 2011. One great shooter can make such a huge difference in basketball. Benford never had one honestly. Even the announcers today were remarking how good this kid is. If we can pair him and Woolridge up with some size down low and on the glass it could be a really special team. -
He's going to be a big dude before all is said and done. He has a big frame/wingspan. I think his older brother goes 6-6 310.

Good info. We’re fixing to find out how well we fare against LaTech on a head to head which should be interesting. -

Smart is one of the best shooters we have ever had. What a terrific player. Kudos to Mac. Still has two years to play.

Is it time to revisit the twitter rules for recruiting?
Harry replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
If a recruit announces his top 3 and 1 of the 3 gives him 1000 followers and the other 2 give him 500 how can we be certain this does not have an impact? I am not saying it is the only reason, playing time, conferences, coaches, parents, location all play a part of course. Or how about the teammate that posts, "congrats on the offer but you will have better ones coming soon.." Or which AD puts out the neatest looking graphic image of the player on twitter? You are correct in the fact that it would be hard to prove what exactly impacts the final decision but to say that twitter doesn't have some impact on the process seems naive. -
Sad news. Makes the season much more challenging not to have him.

Love Ben Baby, and he is a good writer and represents the University so well. I just have to respectably disagree with him on this. "Twitter has no impact on recruiting"? I'm sorry but Twitter has impacted recruiting a lot. Just look at how many recruits announce their favorite schools and final school choices on twitter before anywhere else. Before twitter it was done primarily through newspapers and recruiting sites. It has given recruits a personal public forum that wasn't available to them prior to Twitter. AD Departments are spending tons of time and money on Twitter strategy. My point was not to argue whether Twitter has an impact, rather that the fans and boosters are using twitter as a way to engage with prospects and whether or not the rules of twitter engagement really apply in reality. -
News arrived this week that Leila Rahimi of NBC Sports Chicago - the Windy City's version of Fox Sports Southwest - would be working the ice hockey beat as part of NBC's grandiose coverage of next month's Winter Olympics from PyeongChang, South Korea. Specifically, Rahimi, born and raised in Denton and an alum of her hometown University of North Texas, will report from rink side at women's games. That's a big deal. Working the Olympics in the NBC universe is confirmation of arrival. If it's not the pinnacle of her career to date, it's close. read more: https://sportsday.dallasnews.com/other-sports/moresports/2018/01/12/infamous-ticket-ticker-miscue-couldnt-keep-unt-gradleila-rahimi-successful-career-sports-media

Is it time to revisit the twitter rules for recruiting?

3. Social Media prowess can drive recruiting decisions A top 2018 quarterback recruit said, “it’s important for me personally to someday have a million followers. That’s a big goal I know I can get at a place like (university redacted).” Recruiting success for college programs has traditionally hinged on factors like player-coach relationships, location, on-field success, and potential for early playing time. While these factors remain at the forefront, social media prestige has entered the picture. Programs today are devoting more and more assets to the expansion and improvement their social presence. Beyond the program’s own social presence, athletes like the aforementioned quarterback recruit are increasingly interested in how their potential school will help them build their personal brand. Rather than simply telling athletes what not to do, recruits today are in search of forward thinking programs that offer expert advice, the freedom to maximize their social impact, and access to share the high quality that the program is likely already creating. Good video. Shows a lot in terms of how OU/OSU and Tulsa sort of have their way in the state. Lot's of good players can get left behind. Also their IPF looks awesome. Makes me jealous.

To give you an idea of how forward thinking he was, he installed a player internship program where a player could work for a UNT alumnus company in the off season. It was well managed and provided players with some terrific experience and job opportunities after graduation. I know that Dickey did some of that on a case by case basis but it was nowhere near as developed. Parker made the alumni business owners participating in the program feel more engaged with the athletics and UNT in general. Parker as others before and after him struggled with an admin that didn't care about athletics and didn't fund it properly. From 1983 to 1994 the admin put us in I-AA and that hurt every coach in that era. He had his faults namely that he could not win the Southland. What is crazy is he could beat SWC schools but struggled against the likes of Sam Houston, SFA and Northwestern. He got close but after 3 subpar seasons they let him go. Of course, Matt Simon benefited in 1994 with all of Parker's players and finally won the conference.

Is it time to revisit the twitter rules for recruiting?
Harry replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
I get that. It just seems like if we could harness our social media capabilities it could have a positive effect. That was just one example. I saw a video of a recruit who was specifically talking about how he built a large twitter following of fans as a prospect and how that was part of his strategy to get to the NFL. I know not everyone is on board with twitter and facebook et al but I am here to tell you it is a POWERFUL tool. -
I know that we have tried to be extra carefully about reminding fans to be careful on social media... It seems to me that these rules are not being followed by some of the biggest programs. An example can be seen here: Pay particular attention to the likes and comments. There are over 1300 in just a day and please don't tell me there is not one booster or alum that is in the mix. What I see is that social media is becoming a key piece in a prospect's choice of schools. They can build a following on twitter off of their commitment to a given school. Are we taking an ostrich mentality to this phenomenon? Understand, the last thing I want to do is get our program in trouble. And I do understand that the crooked NCAA will use a smaller program to make an example of. I just wonder if we shouldn't take a closer look at what the rules are and if a coordinated social media effort would not be beneficial for a school like ours. GMG

WKU got their stud back or is getting him soon. They will be very tough. Back end of schedule will be a biatch.
-
Good to see them having some fun at the break. Seems like the program is building a lot of comradery amongst the players and the fans these days which is cool.
-
A very good man. Wish him well.
