I have seen him pulling, moving farily quickly and doing well - he broke the bench press records so he's strong as an ox. It will be interesting.
-
I noticed that he was limping a bit in his gait during the banquet... truly though a scope is not too serious that it would keep people from getting a good player. Lineberry is truly one of the most dominant run blockers I have ever seen at UNT. Plus he is just plain nasty and you can't teach that. If he is healthy someone is going to get a heckofa bargain.

This guy was one of the most dominant linemen I have ever seen at UNT. What happened? How is he not playing on Sundays? injuries is my guess...

An Absolute And Complete Education Today
Harry replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
We had a great time and I want to thank everyone who helped to make it happen, in particular MedPilot who has generously gave of his time to organize this event year after year. Also kudos to Rick for the pics. It was a lot of fun and I gotta tell you I am very, very sore. Also Andy Blount is just an amazing athlete and good guy. GMG! -

Marquese Davis, LB, 6-1, 230, Atlanta - Has the size and ability to, but big numbers at linebacker make this a stretch Jesse DeSoto, DL, 6-2, 275, San Antonio Lee - Could figure into the rotation; good defensive linemen can play fairly early in their careers Sam Dibrell, WR, 6-2, 205, San Antonio Alamo Heights - With only 2 set in stone, you have 6 WR spots to fill in the 8-man rotation so Dibrell and all of the WR signees have a good shot. Kevin Ealey, DB, 5-9, 185, Brenham - I say Ealey could play - mainly because I think he is the best athlete in this class and Mendoza's defense will allow for pure cover athletes to play early. Greg Garden, DB, 5-11, 187, Navy (Denton Ryan) - sitting out but could be a nice safety in 2008 Bron Hager, DB, 6-1, 210, Austin Westlake - greyshirt Breece Johnson, WR, 6, 175, Colleyville Heritage - Should play right away. J.J. Johnson, OL, 6-2, 278, Plano West - Redshirt Marcus King, WR, 6-3, 200, Euless Trinity - Should play right away. B.J. Lewis, WR, 6-1, 190, Waco Robinson - Depends on where they play him. Cam Montgomery, RB, 6-2, 195, Northeast Mississippi Junior College (The Woodlands) - Should be #2 behind Jamario Micah Mosley, RB, 6-1, 205, Nederland - redshirt Justin Padron, LB, 6-0, 220, Southlake Carroll - redshirt A.J. Penson, LB, 6-1, 220, Lufkin - Could play right away on special teams. Sam Roberson, WR, 6-4, 210, Somerville - Most raw talent of WR group and thus could play right away. Kyle Russo, DE, 6-3, 245, Southlake Carroll - Probably a redshirt, but could push if other defensive ends falter. Jordan Scoggins, DL, 6-1, 274, Euless Trinity - I see him with a very good chance to play on the defensive line rotation. Probably will be between him and Desoto for playing time. Matt Tomlinson, OL, 6-5, 270, Klein - Redshirt Giovanni Vizza, QB, 6-1, 195, San Antonio Alamo Heights - I think he has a shot to be #2 and possibly #1 w/Meager's injury history. Tune's progression and the final determination of where Woody plays impacts this... Evan Walker, WR, 5-11, 185, Colleyville Heritage - With his speed he will play right away.

Texas San Antonio Roadrunners (19-14 overall, 11-5 SLC) Projected starting five: Sophomore guard Kurt Attaway (last year's freshman of the year in SLC and led the team with 105 assist) Senior guard David President (led team with 55 steals last season) Senior forward Raphael Posey (second on team last season with 11.4 ppg) Senior forward John Millsap (started 16 games in '03, has tremendous upside) Senior center Anthony Fuqua (led the team with 42 blocked shots) Coach Tim Carter is really going to miss the SLC's leading scorer LeRoy Hurd from last year's championship squad, but he has four returning starters and a lot of depth on the bench. Add that with junior college transfers center Ray Salvage, guard Andre Owens and high school recruit Adam McCoy and you get another SLC championship. Many polls and sports gurus have the Roadrunners earning another NCAA tournament bid and I have to agree, because in my mind they are still the champions until another team beats them for the SLC crown.

The Real McCoy: Transfer from UT-San Antonio leads the way for T-Birds Nick Kosmider Mesa Legend The Mesa Thunderbird men’s basketball team is off to a 3-3 start in the tough ACCAC, due in large part to the contributions of guard Adam McCoy. McCoy has been an offensive machine so far this season, averaging 23.6 points per game, good enough for third in the conference. For the week ending in December 10th, McCoy was the ACCAC Division I co-player of the week, sharing the honor with Yavapai’s Tom Whitehead. He won the award due, in large part, to his 28 point, 13 rebound performance in Mesa’s 90-65 thumping of Pima Community College. He followed that game with an astounding 35 points and eight rebounds in a thrilling victory over Chandler Gilbert. While the Mesa coaching staff knew they were getting a complete scorer, it has been McCoy’s all-around game that has helped the Thunderbirds. As well as his 24 points per game, McCoy is also averaging 5.5 rebounds per game. Also astonishing has been McCoy’s poise from the foul line. So far this season he has made 93.5% of his free throws, making good on 29 out of 31. McCoy is also among the team leaders in steals with nearly two per game. While McCoy has been the team’s go-to guy, he has certainly had help from other members of the Thunderbird team. Rodney Brown has helped provide a balanced scoring attack with 12.1 points per game. John Pena and Brandon Pickerel have also made solid contributions to the team’s offense averaging 10.7 and 11.2 points per game respectively. Pickerel is also averaging 6.4 rebounds for the T-birds. The next chance to see McCoy and the rest of the Thunderbirds at home will come on January 24th at 7:30 as Mesa takes on South Mountain Community College in an ACCAC showdown.

You can piss and moan about where it is but the bottom line is it now will exist. Huge Jackson win in my opinion. To land the only public law school in a city the size and scope of Dallas is a big win for us.

INteresting thread - in my day (I graduated in 90) I remember Major Green (son of Mean Joe) and also an obscure one, Maverick asst coach Del Harris' son was there. I forget his name but he like his pop was already turning prematurely grey...nice guy.

Agree w/Grand on Howerton. I hope he surprises me but I see him as no more than a role player if that. On Sturns, the reason he was playing point was probably due to the loss of Lionel Brown (?) who left the team due to family issues. We simply didn't have a backup point and it's been an achilles heel of the team. If we could only have a Bell and Hines on the same team...

Outstanding point Lonnie.

Spring Football Daily Outlook - Offensive Line
Harry replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree w/your comments, although we don't want to have to play Tomlinson; I would rather see him sit out a year and spend it in the weight room - that would give us 4 years of a much better player and it would help him in the confidence department. Tomlinson is not a step right in and play guy IMHO...huge upside is that he could be a beast for 3-4 years if you handle it right... OLine is still a major question mark in my mind. Hope I am wrong! -

Just love that positive, can do attitude Two One.

Yes Venegas was starting at I think left guard alongside Menard. Peachy was out with a minor injury so Tyler Bailey was filling in at right tackle. I think they are looking at Menard and Peachy as the tackles for the future I just don't know if they are ready yet. Menard was being schooled by a healthy Jeremiah Chapman. I like their potential size and ability. Oubre is playing backup corner.

- Gilmore changed his number from 9 to 94. Looks very promising at the end. - They had Drake playing starting center and were looking at Rose at guard. My understanding was that they would be switching out but I saw more of Bryan Glass at center than I did Rose who seemed to be playing more guard. - Shotgun snap is still shaky but will get better with time. - Aaron Weathers missed the scrimmage because he had a class at the same time. - Riley Dodge and his girlfriend were in attendance. Interesting to note Riley's girlfriend is playing volleyball at UNT next year. - OT Josh Alexander has been cleared to run again but will get limited live snaps if any this Spring. - OT is a huge issue need position as it was learned that Jeremy Brown has decided to quit and not return for his senior year. - DE Chase Pistole also has hung up his cleats. My understanding is that he and Brown are enrolling in the police academy so good luck to them. - WR Jamal Wynne (5-10, 175, 4.4) from Jacksonville, TX - Jon Ieans fans will be glad to know that he has returned to the program after a 1-year stint at Southern Arkansas. He is now playing receiver for North Texas as a walk-on. - Ajani Banks is not participating in Spring due to focusing on his grades - DB Gary Oubre is back!!! More to come...

Article On Smut Spring Game; Sets Time For Unt Game
Harry replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
It is very important that we have more fans at our game at Ford than UTEP does. There is no excuse for us not to period, especially as early as this game falls in our season. -
Here is an update from the scrimmage in regards to walk-ons… I got a copy of an somewhat updated Spring Roster: No major surprises here but some new walk-on names (other than guys like Evan Fentriss, Greg Garden et al) that I wasn’t familiar with. I am listing them below: #9 Brandon Dixon is a wide receiver from McKinney who transferred in from MacMurry. #14 is Lawrence Wesley a WR from Round Rock who transferred from Abilene Christian. #19 is Roderick Johnson a WR from Denton (also lists Naaman Forest?) #22 Corey Paris is a DB from Hurst TX and transfer from Southern Arkansas #23 is Jacoby Gomez a running back from Blue Ridge TX #25 is Kevin Dickerson a WR (no other info) #26 is Noel Luna a corner (no other info) #31 is Nuradeen the transfer from Baylor (DB) – I heard he could play this season #32 is Clayton Okpara a DB #36 is a DB whose last name is Knight (no other info) #37 is Scott Gilchrist a LB from From Worth bwo Blinn JC #39 Trevor Ashlock a DB from North Richland Hills bwo Arkansas #60 Brad Weekes an Olineman from Justin TX #63 Zachary Highfill is an OL from Denton, Tx bwo East Central University #64 Jeff Moehrig (6-0, 293) is an OL from Victoria Memorial that may have been on the roster last year because he is listed as a sophomore squad player #81 Erick Lichty is a WR with no other info #93 Daniel Calderon is a DL from Lewisville bwo Mount Olive University #96 is Kenneth Okonkwo (6-2, 230) from Richardson, TX who may also be a Baylor transfer Feel free to share with us if you have any additional information on these players. GMG!
