  1. "We have been understaffed in recruiting." How is that possible? Glad things are going well now but damn man how can something that important be overlooked just a couple of years ago?
  2. Yes sir - I have pinned it to the top of the page. Shout out to @UNT 90 Grad for his efforts in putting it together. here you go:
  3. As we inch closer to the start of Fall camp, and the highly anticipated start of the 2018 Mean Green football season, I thought it would be a good time to look at the 2018 schedule of games, placing them in order of importance. I will be the first to say this list is arranged in the order of a fan's lens and will not follow the painfully boring coaching phrase, "the most important game is next game on the schedule". 1). SMU - It the home opener sure, but it also against a team North Texas Fans love to hate more than any other. Plus, we have not beaten them since 2014. Beating SMU to open the season would be music to a music schools ears. 2). @UT at San Antonio - OK I admit it; this game is late in the season and most do not see them as a Western division challenger this season. The bottom line is we hate these bastards and every chance we must beat them we must take advantage. They are our clear rival in the conference now and yes, we do recruit against them quite a bit. Also, we have not yet beaten them in San Antonio which would be fun. 3). @Arkansas - Typically a game on the road against an SEC team would be a let's get a check and avoid injuries. This one feels different. Arkansas has a new coach (former SMU HC Chad Morris) and is going from a power-based set to the spread. New coaching regimes are renown for some stumbles early as they evaluate personnel and playbooks. Most did not think we would have a chance against Georgia on the road back in 2013 but we were a TD down in the 3rd quarter before spitting the bit. Even a good showing here would provide some momentum heading into conference play. 4). Florida Atlantic - R-E-V-E-N-G-E. It's a home game and a chance for redemption after two drubbings last season. FAU is the cream of the C-USA field, and getting a win against Kiffy would be one of the most delightful home experiences we have had. 5). @UAB Blazers - UAB turned out to be one of our biggest wins in 2017, as they went on after that loss and won 6 C-USA games (including La. Tech, UTSA and MUTS) and got to a bowl. Pretty much everyone is back and the last time we played them on the road they demolished us. A win against UAB on the road this season would be a statement win. 6). La. Tech - Tech is one of those programs who sees 2017 UNT as sort of a flash in the pan. Beating them at home would be fun and would make it harder for them to pretend that they are better than us. Also, we recruit against Tech a lot. They have a good program and anytime we can beat them it is a good sign. 7). Southern Miss - Always a super tough game, and their fans feel like they were robbed last season due to a QB injury. I have a lot of respect for their program and it is a home game. I would put them up higher in the list if we recruited more against them (we don't). 8). @Old Dominion - This will be our 1st game in Norfolk and a chance to put the Monarchs in their place. Old Dominion is in the eastern division, so it won't be as important a game from a conference perspective. They just seem to have a high and might attitude ever since they joined C-USA, maybe not to the level of UTSA, but enough to irritate me. 9). @Rice - I would usually put this game higher on the list, but Rice appears to be a little down right now, so this should be a game we win. Whenever we have the golden opportunity of playing a game in talent laden Houston, we need to play well. We don't recruit against Rice as much as we do some other C-USA teams, but enough to matter. 10). @UTEP - much like Rice UTEP appears to be down after firing their coach so that puts them further down the list. Still, last time we played in El Paso they beat us like a drum, so we better not take them for granted. They would love to beat us because they could sell it to DFW area recruits. 11). @Liberty - My gut tells me this is a trap game but hopefully I am wrong. In terms of importance I just can't put it higher because it is a non-conference game against an opponent not many know about. I do think they are building a nice program with nice facilities there and just hope we are getting them in the early stages of the build. 12). Incarnate Word - This is a paycheck game for Incarnate Word which started playing football in 2009 as a DII program. If we don't have a comfortable lead at halftime it could be a long season.

  5. I see the listing as a reflection from C-USA that we remain sort of a flash in the pan type of program. I just don’t think the FAU’s and La. Tech’s of the world see us as a long term threat in term of the upper tier of the conference.
  6. Link: http://conferenceusa.com/news/2018/7/16/football-fb-2018-preseason-awards.aspx FB: 2018 Preseason Awards July 16, 2018 A trio of standouts headline the list of 2018 preseason Conference USA Football award winners, as chosen by the league’s 14 head coaches. Florida Atlantic junior RB Devin Singletary was selected as the C-USA Offensive Player of the Year, Florida Atlantic senior LB Azeez Al-Shaair was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year, while Southern Miss senior K Parker Shaunfield earned Special Teams Player of the Year honors. 2018_Preseason_Awards "Motor" Singletary was named C-USA Most Valuable Player last season after scoring a nation-leading 32 rushing touchdowns last season (nine more than any other player) and 33 total TDs (five more than any other player). He scored more rushing touchdowns last year (32) than previous school career record-holder Alfred Morris had in four years from 2008-11 (27). Singletary also topped 100 yards in each of the final 11 games of the season for the Owls. Both the rushing TD’s and total TD’s are new C-USA records in those categories, breaking records held by UCF RB Kevin Smith, now his running backs coach. Singletary finished fifth nationally with 1,920 rushing yards and FAU was sixth nationally in rushing at 285.9 yards per game. Al-Shaair was a first team All-Conference USA selection in 2017 after he set a new Florida Atlantic single-season record with 147 tackles. He posted nine games with double-digit stops and also helped the defense with 11 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, four passes defended and one forced fumble. Al-Shaair already holds the schools’ career tackles mark with 354. Shaunfield converted the first 89 extra-point attempts to start his career (a school record) and is now 104-for-106 all-time as a Golden Eagle. The first team All-C-USA performer converted 17-of-20 field goals last season, including 15 in a row at one point. Shaunfield was a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award in 2017. Defending conference champion Florida Atlantic had the most overall preseason selections with six, while Marshall produced five and Louisiana Tech and Middle Tennessee each had players comprising four spots. Eight schools had multiple players named to the squad. The league’s 23rd football season begins on Thursday, August 30. The 14th annual Conference USA Football Championship Game, pitting the champions of the East and West Divisions, will be held Saturday, Dec. 1. The C-USA Media Poll (Predicted Order of Finish) will be released on Tuesday. 2018 C-USA FOOTBALL COACHES PRESEASON AWARDS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR Devin Singletary, Jr., RB, Florida Atlantic DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR Azeez Al-Shaair, Sr., LB, Florida Atlantic SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE YEAR Parker Shaunfield, Sr., K, Southern Miss OFFENSE QB Mason Fine, Jr., North Texas QB Brent Stockstill, Sr., Middle Tennessee RB Spencer Brown, So., UAB RB Devin Singletary, Jr., Florida Atlantic OL Reggie Bain, Sr., Florida Atlantic OL Chandler Brewer, Sr., Middle Tennessee OL Jordan Budwig, Sr., FIU OL Levi Brown, Jr., Marshall OL O’Shea Dugas, Sr., Louisiana Tech TE Harrison Bryant, Jr., Florida Atlantic WR Tyre Brady, Sr., Marshall WR Jalen Guyton, Sr., North Texas WR Ty Lee, Jr., Middle Tennessee WR Teddy Veal, Sr., Louisiana Tech DEFENSE DL Jaylon Ferguson, So., Louisiana Tech DL Fermin Silva, Sr., FIU DL Kevin Strong, Jr., Sr., UTSA DL Oshane Ximines, Jr., Old Dominion LB Azeez Al-Shaair, Sr., Florida Atlantic LB Khalil Brooks, Jr., Middle Tennessee LB Chase Hancock, Sr., Marshall LB Josiah Tauaefa, Jr., UTSA DB Ben DeLuca, Jr., Charlotte DB Malik Gant, Jr., Marshall DB Shelton Lewis, Sr., Florida Atlantic DB Amik Robertson, So., Louisiana Tech DB Jalen Young, Sr., Florida Atlantic SPECIAL TEAMS K Parker Shaunfield, Sr., Southern Miss P Jack Fox, Sr., Rice KR Isaiah Harper, Sr., Old Dominion PR Darrell Brown, Jr., Old Dominion LS Matt Beardall, Jr., Marshall
  7. We got a good thing going here @GrandGreen We are winning games, recruiting battles. For the first time that I can recall we are holding our own with the Tulsa’s of the world. Not yet handling SMU but certainly making inroads there. This is not just a one year blip like we saw under Danny Mac in 2013. I think the fan base would like to lock into the current situation for as long as we are able. We are realists, we know it won’t last for ever. But every year that we can keep this staff in place is a better year for our program.
  8. HUNTINGTON - On paper, it appears that Florida Atlantic should run through Conference USA in 2018. It isn't an unfounded thought, considering the Owls' tightest football game the last three months of the season was a 30-25 home win over Marshall in which the Owls used their defense to force turnovers and keep the Thundering Herd at arm's length, leading for two scores for much of the contest with the Herd battling to get back in it. For all intents, THAT was a young Florida Atlantic team. Young talent, new coaching staff, new schemes. Now, head coach Lane Kiffin has expectations in his second year, and many of those are on the national level, not just Conference USA. There are reasons for that. FAU returns third-team All-American Devin Singletary at running back and 10 defensive starters from a unit that gave up yardage but forced many turnovers to negate the yards allowed. However, the supposed walk through Conference USA will not be an easy trek for the Owls, given some of the things they will have to endure in the 2018 campaign. read more: http://www.williamsondailynews.com/sports/loaded-fau-will-be-aiming-for-a-repeat/article_809cdb96-a9b9-592d-9e9f-4226d923f17b.html
  9. I think I will be a Troy fan this season!
  10. Here's another 3 he scored -- from the corner this time
  11. Awesome find @Cooley Our new player Mark Tikhonenko is #14 on the white Russian team. Gives you a glimpse of his ability. Check out below, as he passes the ball in, works it around and hits the open 3-pointer.
  12. That last paragraph you quoted there@Mean Green 93-98 Is music to my ears! have we finally attained the magic triumvirate of administration, AD and coaching?
  13. Also I apologize in advance for some sound quality issues. We are working on it and will improve as we keep doing it. GMG

  15. As North Texas prepared for its CBI opener at South Dakota, Grant McCasland had a problem. The Mean Green were limping when they accepted the tournament invite, having lost seven of their last eight games. McCasland had a dynamic, slashing playmaker in sophomore point guard Ryan Woolridge but the court had shrunk around him. UNT had shot just 28.3 percent from three in the previous four games, and McCasland needed to create space for his lead guard. As the morning shoot around unfolded, junior guard Michael Miller missed shot after shot. McCasland couldn’t take his eyes off of him. “I saw him staring at me and I was thinking, ‘what’s going on?’” Miller said. What was going on was that McCasland had come up with an idea to fix his team’s sagging offense. The first-year UNT coach called over Jon Trilli, his Director of Basketball Operations, and bounced the idea of him. It was out there. Miller, who had made just three of his 23 three-point attempts, would be given the green light from deep against a tough Coyotes’ defense. And he’d have to shoot them with his right hand, which for most players would go unsaid. Except Miller was a left-handed shooter. Miller was told to switch to his normally non-dominant hand the rest of the shootaround. He immediately made six shots in a row, missed one and then made four more in succession. That’s when McCasland called him over. “I told Mike, ‘here’s the deal: I’m going to start you tonight and I want you to shoot eight three pointers and I don’t care if you make them,’” McCasland said. Miller didn’t hit the quota, but it paid off. That night, he scored 19 points and went 4-5 from three, more than doubling his season output from distance. It helped the Mean Green knock off a 26-win South Dakota team, and started them on the path to a CBI championship. read more: https://www.midmajormadness.com/2018/7/13/17551840/michael-miller-switch-hands-shooting-north-texas-unt-basketball-mean-green-mccasland-cbi-champions
  16. Fry had CHARISMA unlike anything we have ever seen. We had him in his prime.
  17. Scouting report: 1.2017 SHAKEEM ALCINDOR, 6-6, FORWARD, (USVI/Educational Complex) Where did Alcindor come from? He was not even mentioned as one of the twelve best players last year. Boy did he make an impactlast season! Alcindor used his size and athleticism to help Educational Complex to the St. Croix Interscholastic championship and saved his impact for the Annual All Virgin Islands Hoop Classic. Thebig man altered and blocked many shots while pouring in 16 points and eight rebounds on his way to an MVP of the Sun Stroke game. He is good in the low post, has an excellent medium range jump shot and should be the best big man in the territory this upcoming season. His play above the rim is inspiring and he even has the nerve to dunk on people if they don't put a body on him. link: https://www.d1nation.com/news_article/show/698734
  18. Just need him to be decent and stay healthy.
  19. Vito posted this but I deduced that the player he is speaking to is Shakeem Alcindor from Link Year Prep, originally from the Virgin Islands. http://www.linkhoops.com/shakeem-alcindor
  20. It's outrageous. They should figure out a way to hire this man back. He has a family.
  21. His HUDL Link in case you missed it. Kid can fly! Reminds me of Jamel Branch. https://www.hudl.com/profile/8156322/Kealon-Jackson
