Yes you are correct. I was just pointing out that Easly must have really made his mark and we had heard Cole may had won the punting job but it seems they listed Kensworthy ahead of him on the 2-deep.

The SMU fans are making mention that they have 10-12 graduate/transfer types that should tilt the game their way from a talent perspective. My thought is that with so many new faces on the scene, issues regarding chemistry can be problematic especially early in the season. They are correct in that it is hard to plan for that many new faces at so may positions. This is a different team than what we played last year. Need to strike them early and often as that will make it harder for all these new guys to transition in.
-
Also is interesting that after all the talk about moving Murray to guard, he is listed as backup left tackle. My guess is he is just too tall to play guard with a 5-11 QB.

Interesting items: RB Loren Easly is running #2 Caleb Colvin the big juco transfer is running #2 behind Rod Young at end. Juco Tim Faison is running #2 behind JoJo at the Jack Kensworthy won the punter job over Cole. LeMasters and Linehan are going to play a lot of football this season Juco Torrey got kick returner job. Defense looks very similar to what we had last year in terms of personnel. English at #2 nose KD Davis is #2 at LB as a frosh -- impressive

Re: SMU vs north Texas state predictions by JasonB » Sun Aug 26, 2018 9:04 am UNT favored by 4 and over under is at 70. Here are the factors I would put into play: * We were the better team last season * UNT recruiting classes are rated significantly worse over the past 3 seasons than SMU. They aren't building a great team through recruiting to plug holes from graduation. SMU has a much better talent line coming in to fill spots. * UNT has a GT kicker. They have a transfer eligible now on one of the lines. And that is it. SMU has added GTs at RT, 2 WR, DE, DT, and 2 S, all of whom are fighting for starting positions. They also have a transfer from A&M who is a starter and 3 JUCOs who are fighting for starting spot. SMU has definitely upgraded the team across the board. * UNT graduated a big player at RB, and have unknowns to fill that spot. Defensively, they graduated easily their stud in the secondary, and have unknowns to fill. SMU graduated two great WR, and backfilled with transfers from P5 schools. A great center and plugged a JUCO and KU RT. A great DE and plug in a P5 transfer. Some okay DT and plug in a P5 transfer and have highly regarded recruits coming of age. UNTs offense is going to be as good as it was last year, and their D is going to be as bad as it was last season. SMU's D is going to be much improved, and I think SMU's offense, while losing two great playmakers, is going to still be good. I'll take SMU to win straight up. I might take the under, because as the game moves along, I think SMU will run the ball a ton and eat clock. Does your spouse or significant other support your UNT habit?

Haha so true. -
You know Evan Johnson is a player not a lot of us are mentioning but he can play. It never fails that some of the guys you least expect end up making a difference.

LOL - yeah I might could have done a better job on that title.

CARTHAGE — Terian Goree had things going his way during his sophomore season at the University of North Texas. Goree was one of the top offensive targets, leading all Mean Green receivers with 36 receptions for 328 yards and two touchdowns. The 2014 Carthage graduate was excelling at the highest level when it all came to a sudden halt. UNT announced prior to its Nov. 19 game with Southern Mississippi that Goree was suspended from the program. Goree eventually left the program and transferred to Stephen F. Austin. It's there where Goree gets a clean slate along with a new lease on life and he couldn't be happier. "I enjoyed my time in Denton. It was like my second home. I made a lot of good friends and loved the environment. But I got in some trouble and left the program," Goree said. "Life is about learning from your mistakes. You grow each day and you become a better man. SFA was the right place for me. My grandparents are my backbone and they're just 45 minutes down the road." read more: https://www.news-journal.com/etvarsity/sports/hsfootball/carthage-s-goree-kilgore-s-foy-now-teammates-for-sfa/article_85970619-1eac-5d4c-9eac-f9ffd3afeee7.html

New Rice Endowment For Football Coach Position
Harry replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
I kept wondering when - if ever - would Rice dip into it's very healthy endowment (like up there with Stanford and Harvard) to better support their football program. If there are able to do that, they could become very powerful. -

FAU got 38 votes but did not crack the top 25. Should be interesting to see how this develops for C-USA this season. https://collegefootball.ap.org/poll
