thank you for everyone that came out to pregame. We cooked just the right amount of food. It was a great crowd.15 points

Wish I could have been there...great crowd, great team, great game for Senior Day. Great fan in FlyontheWall to provide great food and atmosphere to support the women's team in the great basketball year at UNT. Now on to Dickies Arena...let's take both championships back to Denton, Mean Green! gmg6 points

So I just returned from Ft. Lauderdale after a brief visit with my son. We went to the UNT/FAU game and here are my observations about the Owl's basketball venue. It is a glorified high school gym. Granted they did put lipstick on a pig by installing a scoreboard at one end that gives you continuous updated statistics and about 5 bare bones" suites" at the other. By bare bones I mean a scorers table with about 6 chairs behind it in each one.The student section and band is on one side of the gym and non students on the other. Our tickets were 3 flights up on about the 20 yard line and cost $50.00 each[ that's not a misprint]. The announced attendance was 3,100 which is max but the student section was only half full. If you loved the original Snake Pitt of the 60's, which I did, then you will feel at home at The Burrow. Otherwise it's pretty much a joke.5 points

I'm pulling for UAB because I'm still holding out hope we can get the 1 seed. Facing the 4 seed, who right now is Tulane or could be FAU, would be huge. Would much rather let UAB/Memphis take each other down if that ends up being the 2-3 match-up.4 points

I’ve gone back and forth on the PAC but it’s time we take the risky leap. The Boise AD says Texas is very important to the new PAC. Texas State is going and we represent North Texas. DFW Austin are rich markets. San Antonio is too close to TSU and I don’t think Memphis or Tulane will bite. We have the basketball programs and this is going to be a big 12 level bball league with St. Mary’s College, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Utah State, Colorado State and Boise. All legit bball powers. Unlike in CUSA and the AAC where the leagues took steps back after we joined the PAC is not going to fall off. They’ve got established powers in there. I watched the Oregon State St. Mary’s game last night and it would be great to call those programs bball conference peers. We’re probably locked out of the Big 12 with TCU in town. This is a chance to elevate and take our product out west to the Bay Area, Southern California, the Rockies and the Great Northwest. It’s time to show our interest. Don’t let them lowball us and definitely present our strengths and make a play to go bigger. GMG4 points

Planning to do a little pregame tailgating in the Fouts lot beforehand. 8pm tip means a little time to sip whiskey. 🥃4 points

A great NT QB. In a class with Ramsey, Maher, and the QB who won 4 SBC titles. Lost a year of eligibility due to Dodge stupidity and a year with compound fracture @ Army. QB for NTs last bowl win, only NTQB ever to beat Troy in Troy, showed remarkable toughness in bowl game being out only one play with twisted knee, and took Georgia to fourth quarter before finally succumbing4 points

For the record, Cal Baptist beats Baylor 2-1 to win the Baylor Invitational. Got credit for including the religion in the school name. GMG3 points

Ditto. But SHSU is 0-4 on the weekend, lost a tough 10-inning game to CBU in the semifinal, and we didn't blow them out of the water either. Bearkats are desperate for a W. I hope our bats can wake up.3 points

Sam Houston at 9am. Hope the girls can get a W, head home, and regroup for Oklahoma State on Wednesday.3 points

My #1 signal QB who gets absolutely no love here. Played during the era of the running game; while taking all snaps under center. Pre-Air Raid. Lead the team to the last national ranking in D1. Number 19 in your program but #1 in your heart. https://meangreensports.com/honors/north-texas-athletics-hall-of-fame/ken-washington/91 https://meangreensports.com/news/2018/8/30/football-unt-great-washington-sees-himself-in-fine3 points

Whiteout game, be loud and be proud! They have a cool t shirt giveaway for the first 500 maniacs in the door. Problem is, haven’t seen 500+ maniacs since UTSA sadly….3 points

He cares about athletics. He was one of the initial donors to the Athletic Center and Apogee Stadium and gave $1 million for the new scoreboard and sound system for basketball in the Super Pit. He also sponsored the Frisco Football Classic in 2021 when UNT needed a bowl game invite.3 points

Bats died yesterday, but as @SUMG noted, lots of travel for the team. That wears on you mentally and physically. Really proud of their start to the year. Let’s get home, prep for OSU Wednesday and get into a normal rhythm.2 points

Worthy of note that the comeback inning started with an infield hit by the true freshman Taylor Platt, who was originally ruled out at first but Rodney successfully challenged.2 points

Simon with a two-run triple to tie it up in the bottom of the third! Still just one out.2 points

They are. I love the spirit they play with. They lead the fans in the "North! Texas!" chant whenever we score. They have a lot chants/chatter during the game (both teams do). There might be a break in the action....and you'll look out, and the outfielders are doing a line dance to a song that's being played. The fact that they have so much fun....makes it even more fun watching them. And they're cute.....that makes it easy, too.2 points

I went to the games Friday and Saturday they are fun to watch. If you can go to the games.2 points

Can't blame Skylar. The bats ruined two great pitching outings today.2 points

We have 0 runs and 1 hit in 10 innings today. Hopefully our bats will wake up. Skyler pitching good since that jam in the first. Hope that continues.2 points

What are these marketing/sales teams you speak of????? Do they actually exist? Has anyone really seen or heard from them? They should all be re-assigned to getting students out to games! As for the schedule itself, we got a break with no Memphis or Tulane this year. 6 very winnable games (Lamar, W. Mich, S. Ala, Charlotte, Rice, Temple) 3 moderate games (USF, UTSA, UAB) 3 tough games (Wash St, Army, Navy)2 points

Warrennolan.com has several rankings for college sports. When i first started using the website, it was only basketball and really just followed the NET. I don't know much about rankings otherwise but they have what's called an ELO ranking. North Texas softball is #21 through Sunday Feb 23. Guessing it's updated every Sunday. https://www.warrennolan.com/softball/2025/elo Clicking on a team gets you the rankings (ELO and RPI) of every team played. There are Quad breakdowns like for basketball. Just fun to track, especially when our school is on the rise.2 points

I am thinking pull for UAB simply to boost my confidence that we can also beat Memphis. Also I am hoping for a Memphis end of year collapse repeat .1 point

Hahaha, you definitely have to have both. However, I would say the pre game is just the bottle.1 point

Halfway to last year's win total a month into the season. We could be in the midst of a truly special year.1 point

I’m also a big fan of Washington’s. He played when I was 10-11 years old and got to attend some of the practices. Nice guy to us kids that were probably a nuisance but thought they were awesome.1 point

E3 score holds up as the final. UNT heads back to Denton winners 3-2 and 16-4 overall. Beat CBU yesterday and we're probably warming up to play Baylor for the title right now.1 point

Let's beat SHSU....and at least finish with a winning record in the tournament. One thing I'll say in our team's defense: The way this schedule has been this year.......they've been mostly on the road. Today, will be our 20th game........19 of which have been on the road. (I realize many were neutral site games....but the point is....our gals have had to do a lot of traveling this year.) Normally....we seem to host a home tourney or two....and that gives them a bunch of home games in Feb. After today.....they get back to somewhat normal scheduling......a week in....a week out.....stuff like that. Go Mean Green.....beat the Bearcats!!!1 point

You're thinking of the MWC. Texas State turned them down, but very much wants a PAC invite. The PAC did attempt to find interest from Memphis, Tulane, and perhaps USF/UTSA, but formal invites were not issued. Revenue estimates (media deal) were not known then, nor were court verdicts on poaching fines with the MWC. Thus they floated low-ball numbers and all declined. Memphis, Tulane, and USF has since implied they are waiting for ACC or Big 12 invites when those conferences media contracts expire and they lose schools again to the SEC/Big10. PAC ADs have implied their next football invites will focus on Texas schools.1 point

This will determine how much the PAC has remaining to use towards buying exit fees of AAC schools they want to offer.1 point

He might have those connections but he doesn't care about UNT athletics. It's great how much money he has donated to the College of Business. Being a UNT COB alum, I do appreciate him doing that. However, just like the rest of our big money donors, people don't care about our athletics program. How long have we been trying to expand the athletic center now? I remember when the goal was $20 Million. Looks like 38 people have given $4.4 million. https://meangreensports.com/news/2024/11/18/general-regents-approve-athletic-center-phase-1-design1 point

You honestly don’t think Brint Ryan has those kinds of connections? He may choose to not use them, but I promise you he has plenty of ears to bend. Abbott and Patrick are small time compared to calls he could make. He’s Trump’s tax adviser…1 point

We need to get BLo going again. Hopefully a return to his old school will do the trick!1 point

I'll continue the other conversation here. Yes, Memphis, USF, and Tulane want P4 status when the ACC collapses. They are positioned to fill-in the ACC in various ways but especially geographically; we are not. Unless the BIG 12 collapses and they decide they need another DFW school, there are no other P4 conferences that make sense for us geographically. The next logical step upwards for us is the new PAC. The footprint is similar to the AAC's eastern schools. We just need 1 or 2 travel partners. I doubt the PAC will go snatch MAC schools. The MWC poaching is also done. Texas is a huge area of need for them. If UTSA and/or Texas State get plucked but we don't, might as well close up shop. It would be our last reasonable life jacket.1 point

More info... "These conference affiliation changes will take place in the 2026-27 season with the media-rights potential one of the big reasons the Pac-12 refused to do a reverse merger with the 11-team MW, which would have resulted in a more bloated conference and less media money per school. Estimations have put the Pac-12's new TV deal at around $10 million per school. That would be significantly below the Power 4 but atop the Group of 6. MW schools currently make about $3.5 million annually in media-rights money with Boise State getting an additional $1.8 million carveout. The American Athletic Conference has the Group of 6's highest per-school payout, which is reportedly around $8 million each. The MW also is negotiating a post-2026 media-right deals after adding Hawaii and UTEP as full members; Grand Canyon and UC Davis as non-football members; and Northern Illinois as a football-only school." I expect to get a lot of down votes for this, but am I the only one who cannot stand seeing these male Mean Green dancers? For God sakes go be a cheer leader or something else, but leave the Mean Green dancers to the females. Do guys have to invade everything that female do? I cannot watch the Mean Green dancers when one of those guys is out there. I want to cheer for them because they rep the school that I love, but I just can't with those guys out there.1 point
