A lot of teams in the conference, like Rice, get to play cupcake nonconference schedules then he get exposed in league play. Temple struggled with a weak nonconference but have turned it up in league play. Not sure if they had any injuries before? Maniacs are making moves to get students at The Pit. They will be giving out Maniac jerseys.11 points

Just realized Tony Bumford is an assistant coach there and now I want to beat them…by a lot.7 points

That's all great, but if we have the opportunity to play basketball with Gonzaga, SDSU, Utah State, Boise, and possibly even St. Mary's, you damn well better take that opportunity very seriously and do whatever can be done to alleviate that 27M to get us to this basketball conference. After all, we are a #basketballschool.7 points

I think we all forget that Sissoko is still pretty new to the game of basketball and, as Hodge has stated, probably the nicest guy he has ever met. Being aggressive may be against his nature, but man he has been playing good lately. Regarding the game, great job by @Matt from A700 and all the other Mean Green fans for giving us a home court advantage. Looked and sounded great on television. The "North - Texas" chant sounded great.7 points

oh I've been to two UNT/Army games now...it's only about a 5 hour drive from where I live and I do a lot of work in the general area. gorgeous area and a great game experience.5 points

Yes, plant in the east with the Academies and emerging programs including JMU. Tulane and South Florida could be waiting on the ACC for another 5 years. A silver lining is that this most likely blocks UTSA out of PAC movement should their new media deal be sweet. We’re attached to the Runners for now and I don’t mind because I don’t like. Win some championships. Rock our basketball culture. Ready for the future earthquake that ultimately aligns us with Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, K State, Houston and more. I would love to compete against those PAC 12 basketball programs now, but future vision is critical too and I sense a regionalization coming down the line. Cut costs to pay more of the players you want. GMG5 points

The PAC ? will be just another "G" conference because they still have no media deal in place. I question the stability of their future. Regarding us, for those that want answers as to why we weren't proactive in going after membership in this conference, where do you suggest the report $27 million dollar AAC exit fee was going to come from?5 points

I’ve done Army twice. Once by the Poughkeepsie train and one up the Hudson. Both are good trips. The train requires a cab ride to the fort. The trip up the Hudson unloads at the pier where George Washington arrested Benedict Arnold.4 points

I watched the second half of the Tulane v Temple game...just a few observations (aside from we need to be recruiting Rowan Brumbaugh from Tulane) - Jamal Mashburn, Jr is a problem...he dropped a super efficient 32 points...looking at his game log, he's not usually so efficient, but he is gonna find a way to get his - they lack a legit point guard, but have multiple people on the floor at any given time who can handle - a lot of length and athleticism across their guard line - don't really have a legit post. a couple big-bodied rebounders and a 6'10" 190lb stretch 4 if we get good, smart, efficient Sissoko I think he's gonna find a lot of joy inside...though a little worried they'll play a lot of 5 out and he's gonna get isolated and lost defensively. really hoping Dello is 100% so we can run multiple dudes at Mashburn.4 points

I think it's better to move in silence. SDSU completely embarrassed themselves when they left the MWC without having a PAC invite, only to come back to the conference. You don't air out your dirty laundry for the whole country to see. Good admins keep things tight lipped until something is ready to happen. I don't have any inside sources, but I can guarantee you that Mosley and other ADs are talking to each other, trying to position themselves if the money is there for a move, and trying to gain favor with schools so that they would advocate that we go with them.4 points

From the outside looking in Sissoko seems like a gentle giant, like he doesn't realize he's a beast. Agree on kudos for the fans, even the commentators were saying, "What is this? A UNT home game?"4 points

Thank y'all for the kind comments. I love to do it. If I could quit my job and make a living by expanding on this initiative and coordinating ticket, hotel, and transportation packages for damn near every UNT road game throughout the year I would.4 points

This is huge for conference standings. As tight as they are, you need all the head to head wins you can get.4 points

Glad we get them at home. This is the type of game that the AD should be promoting all out. Well, they should do that every game, but this has the potential to be a great game and we need the home court advantage with a big, loud crowd. Hope Walker is back and ready to roll.4 points

I give to you that was funny. But I will forever be confused by fans of schools with deeper pockets and better athletic history on our board when we never play them. If you are going to troll here, troll on Houston boards to get us on the schedule so you have a legit reason to be here. 🤷🏽♂️3 points

Follow up thoughts: I think we are all aware of the many things that go into selection. But many (or most) casuals think too much of W-L record. As in, 25+ wins means you're a near lock for an AL. Just another one of my 0.02 observations: the committee will have a handful of 25-ish-win mid-majors on the outside looking in (most years), and have to also consider all these 15-to-20-win-ish teams from the majors. This is where Quad 1 opportunities come into play. It's unfair, because quality midmajors like us sit on a s.t.ru.g.g.l.e.b.u.s. trying to schedule more Q1 opportunities, while those majors get tons of them just by virtue of being in their conference. So, by sheer luck or chance or whatever, they pull off 1 or 2 Q1 wins, and thus get the nod. It's freakin hard being where we are, and getting over the hump.3 points

I did the train trip as well. Only thing I can add is if you have bad knees, be prepared for the steep hills you need to climb if walking around West Point. It is a remarkable visit though. Have been blessed to visit the Air Force Academy and Naval Academy as well. They are all different in appearance, but common in goals. Everyone should take the opportunity to make this trip if possible. My game visit was the one where Derek Thompson, I believe it was, broke his leg.3 points

Nice recognition JonnyEagle .. teams really seem to be making a move. Women and Men BBall teams. I still scratch my head thinking back on the Highpoint and McNeese games. Imagine if we had kept the lead in those games. All things considered however, NT doing well. Want to see more fans in the stands supporting them!3 points

After this past week I am starting to wonder if big road wins hold more weight than a 2nd degree quality win by a former opponent (that you beat)3 points

They beat Baylor in Waco this afternoon. That is their third win in a row in Waco. They won't play us anymore, but I would love a shot at them.3 points

Guess it really depends on the PAC deal. I'd also read our share percentage will rise. If the PAC deal is good enough, that $27 million could still be close to paid off by the time 2031 comes around and I highly doubt the next AAC deal will be as good as this one unless a few programs make some big leaps. This is the biggest question. If/when Memphis and Tulane get plucked, it'll be a no-brainer that the PAC would be better than the AAC. It's already better in basketball with Gonzaga, Utah State, Washington State, Oregon State, San Diego State, and Colorado State. If I recall, the old PAC had done a bunch of "committed" crap days before it all crumbled. Everybody is committed until the money is good enough.3 points

another flip side is that you're making a defense really work...it takes energy to press...it takes more to press and then have to defend another 15-20 seconds. I'm cool with not always trying to get a quick hoop once we get it across...I just want to see us get into the offense a little quicker once across. just too many late-clock heaves...initiate with like 12 seconds as opposed to 7.3 points

It's been reported that the AAC deal will rise through the years so we would eventually get a full share. https://www.agent49.net/the-charlotte-49ers-are-american-athletic-conference-bound/ Assuming the AAC doesn't lose anyone, we would really need to weigh if paying the hefty exit fee and substantial travel would be worth it when we could be making close to $8M a year by the end of this deal.2 points

Sometimes you have to spend a little to invest long-term. We know the next AAC deal won't be what the current one is, which we already don't get full credits of. Say a full PAC deal ends up being worth $10 million per year which has long been the low end of the rumor. The AAC currently pays out $7 million per year and we get a bit more than a half credit if I'm not mistaken so say $4 million per year. That PAC deal would already pay $6 million more. Now factor in the NCAA basketball tournament credits which are $2 million per game. The new PAC as it is likely has 4-5 bids per year so more tourney credits than our 1-2 teams. Seems pretty clear the $27 million would be paid off rather quickly. Some may ask if their deal is that good, why wouldn't Tulane and Memphis want to go. Well, they believe they'll get an ACC invite when that crumbles so they have hope of their own Power-ish conference membership. We do not. They also currently get a full credit so the estimated deal isn't good enough to travel cross country and pay a $27 million buyout.2 points

27 million dollars? Sheesh. And the PAC will be as close to being a high major basketball conference without being a high major basketball conference as it gets. Gonzaga, SDSU, UtahSt, UNLV, Boise are all very good basketball programs. If we can't maintain the idea of geography, I would love to play basketball with them.2 points

Indeed. But we got to find a way to have an 8-man rotation. 7 is too little. Legs get tired, particularly during tournament time with 7.2 points
