  1. Well... That attitude really limits us in our bowl search

  2. 100% agree. North Texas has managed to screw up the Mean Green marketing like no other school could probably do. But by all means we are proof that changing uniform combinations weekly will make you play better. And yes I know the next comment will be but the players like changing it up. In this day and time when half a roster may hit the portal every year please show me one player who has ever said I chose to go to a school or I am staying at this school because I like the uniforms we wear.

  3. Man it really isn’t that deep. The stadium is just a vessel for the bowl game. It’s not “we get to play here because SMU is playing for bigger things”

  4. If we wanted a better bowl, we should have had a better record.

  5. It's not that it is that SMU plays there, it is the venue itself. As old as it is, I loved playing this bowl at the Cotton Bowl. So much history there.

  6. This again??! Until you can tell me that going to a predictable, consistent, uniform combination leads to WINNING…I just don’t care. Oregon must surely be distraught this morning after securing the overall #1 seed in the CFP while wearing green helmets and black jerseys last night. We whine about uniforms because we don’t have WINNING to worry about.

  7. Bottom line: SMU is now officially out of our league. They have hundreds of millions of dollars in that program. Money wins now. Only money. They have it. Just a fact. we need to move on and worry about ourselves.

  8. While I understand the sentiment, the guys he’d bring in will already be well-versed in the nuances of his defense. So we’re not necessarily “praying for help from C-USA”, we’re praying coach Cassity brings in guys he knows can play his system WELL.

  10. Great news…should be a good match up and we should win this one! People show up for the damn game, it’s on ESPN, let’s make the most of this! Go to the Tx. St. Bobcat site and lets talk some shit!

  11. I imagine Texas State will bring a pretty good crowd. It's an interesting matchup between two former Incarnate Word coaches and between two schools that spent a few decades joined at the hip. I don't see any real reason to complain about the bowl itself or the matchup.

  12. Explains their attendance reporting.

  13. We do understand how bowl selection process works correct? Bowl games send invitations. Not like Mosley and co. get the pick of 6 bowls and opponents. Being in Dallas against another G5 Texas team has potential to be one of the better attended and watched bowl games. It will also have huge recruiting implications. Not to mention all the storylines that are built in to the game.

  14. I hate SMU, but SMU isn’t our rival anymore. They just played Clemson on national TV and are in the 12-team playoff. We should take the bowl game that gives us a chance to have respectable attendance and win, how SMU figures into that is no factor.

  15. If you're gonna put "Mean Green" on the helmets/basketball unis......make the letters look bold, or "mean" if you will. Not this cursive script crapola, that you can't even read.

  16. SMU’s playoff resume: - Zero wins against teams currently in the Top 25 - Opponents’ combined record of 75-68

  17. Some would argue our defense wasn’t even to CUSA standards.

  18. @Udomann @NT80, @MCMLXXX,…do y’all realize how many here have that f¥<€tard troll your arguing with on ignore and don’t care to read his click-bait bullshit? Ever wonder why he keeps posting? And @Harry, remember that convo we had? Still wondering where all the great posters have gone? Perfect example to your question right here. Where are your mods on this board? Rick

  19. Don't know if this helps, but these teams of note will not be bowling this season. Duke, Virginia, Fla. St., Kansas, Cincinnati, Utah, Houston, UCF, Okla. St., Arizona, UCLA, Mich. St., Purdue, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Maryland, Auburn, Kentucky and Miss. St. Like it or not, we're playing in a bowl. They're not. Go to our game and support our school.

  20. I have to claim my free tickets from the SMU site. I'm limited to 4, yet when I click 4, it says to please select a quantity less than 5. I'm pretty sure 4 is less than 5. Idiots at $mut still can't count.

  21. Yeah, but to be fair, there aren't too many bowl eligible teams that don't at least play decent football--at least in comparison to this current iteration of NT.
    5 points
  22. Bribes, that’s how. And everyone here who can be honest with themselves and know that NT will never be able to afford to be a part of the charade should love it as the P4 tears flow. The NCAA and the ACC have no idea of the level of the corrupt can of worms they have allowed to be opened up over in the city of University Park. Rick

  23. Don't lose by 21 at a .500 team. Hell, if the Tide had lost by a single score, I'd give them more of a hearing....but to be housed like that to a mediocre team...I don't wanna hear anything about Bama needing to be in.

  24. I make no apologies when I say these helmets look like trash. The offset placement of our logo is a terrible design choice because it leaves way too much negative space at the front of the helmet.

  25. Joe, I seem to recall there were exactly the same number of eligible teams as bowl slots.

  30. In my humble opinion.....we should have been sent far off somewhere, to where our attendance didn't matter much. Sorry, but that five game losing skid, wasn't erased away by a win over Temple. I think we could have a game in the Metroplex, and not sell 3,000 tickets to NT fans.

  31. I don’t equate uniforms to winning. Just to identity. I actually like some of the uniforms, but would prefer to have a constant identity.

  32. Southern Miss finished 1-11 (dead last in the Sun Belt). So, what do they do? They’re gonna go take the coach of the league champ. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/42851886/sources-last-place-southern-miss-targets-champ-marshall-coach

  33. If you put Alabama on the field against OU, do you believe OU would win? I don’t, but they did. ”Do you think” shouldn’t be spoken by the committee members.

  34. SMU is about to buy each of the playoff committee members a Trans Am.

  35. Maybe it’s a good time to rewatch some SHSU football tonight. I want to start getting overly optimistic again
    4 points
  36. I don’t mean this as being adversarial towards you, but this is the part of “the committee” that I don’t like. It shouldn’t be based on who they think would beat who, but instead on what you’ve done on the field. Alabama had their chances to make the playoff and they got beat by two 6-6 teams (OU and Vandy).

  37. Riley put his life on the line for NT and gave it all he had. Todd was just not a good college coach.

  38. This would be OK. A Friday at 3:00pm at $mut, on ESPN. It would be a semi-home game, after the holidays, more practice time, not a name opponent but winnable which is all we need right now.

  39. “You should have did your home work.” ??? It’s clear the English department at The University of Houston isn’t in the running for a national championship in grammar. Do you think he actually has a degree from Houston ? The University of Houston, that is.

  40. Curt Cignetti brought 13 James Madison players with him and has Indiana in the playoffs in year 1 of his tenure. Of their 31 transfers, 24 were from G5 programs.

  44. Lol...Mods. They don't care about the trolls, the nerds and turds on here, their content, or the constant ad streaming on this site. I'm glad we have a fan board, but even @Harry rarely posts anymore.
