That is comical. 🤣 The only thing that makes things move in a capitalist soceity is money. And our Football program doesn't generate it. I refuse to continue to waste my time with a core fanbase that seems not to understand that. A fanbase that 💩on even the idea of pursuing a transcendent force with a home and other local tie in the North Texas region like Coach Sanders. UC Boulder General Budget 2022: 1.04 Billion UNT Denton 2022 Budget: 365 milliom Colorado Student Enrollment: 37k North Texas: 47 k Karl Dorrell's contract (Sander's predecessor) 3.6 million Seth Littrell's & EM's 2023 Pay: 2.9 million Now with detailed corrections can you see how proper management of Seth's contract(s) could have put us in a position to at least talk to Sanders? This program with projected improvement could offer a base salary 4 million. There is no excuse for a program in a perfect position to reap the most benefit from Sanders jumping up from FCS to FBS for not pursuing Sanders PUBLICLY. Retaining Seth Littrell in the foolish misguided hope that he would go beyond 0.500 vs FBS competition in year 6 was a low aspirational budget conscious decision. It communicated to me this program doesn't care to sell more tickets nor win. Only when have ridiculous nationally embarrassing outing does this program respond with minimal conventional competency, making staffing moves. We wouldn't be debating this level of idiocy any fanboard for a respectable program. Who brings back the WORST DC in all of FBS for year 2 and NOT fire the head coach who wanted to give him another chance when he fails in year 2? My donations will go strictly to the academic side of the house from now on. Long story short if Eric Morris performs in a underwhelming fashion Morris and Jared need to be gone. We operate like a program with no athletic history located in an isolated location few people would want to move to like Moscow, Idaho. This is why alumni walk away.6 points

This is the Stockholm syndrome that is NT fandom. Right here. And I totally understand. We’ve made underwhelming hire after underwhelming hire… then make a good one, but even he peters out. Why would we ever assume NT can make a good hire, right? It’s not like there aren’t a ton of examples of G5 schools that experience instant turnarounds. Why can’t NT find the right guy like these other programs do?5 points

It's the Dodge PTSD. Any time a coach fails, our fans dismiss any coach with a similar coaching profile moving forward. Witten has been great at Argyle Liberty. Somebody will give him a job at the D1 level and we're in his backyard. Could be beneficial for both parties.3 points
-
Ummm where did you see that UNT's endowment is that high? Also, I doubt we could have hired Sanders. If you're interested in that kind of a gamble, would you be interested in Jason Witten who appears to be following the Sanders path? We could be his Jackson State.3 points

I don’t think Mack Brown’s the answer here either, but let’s not pretend McCarney is anywhere near Brown in terms of head coaching success. Brown would be a huge upgrade.3 points

ST has not been great, but I don’t get it. Freshman kicker, I get that part. There’s more to it, though. Svdoba is supposed to be great, but they’ve been lacking as of late. He was speculated for the Rice job…wonder if that’s a factor? Game management has been lacking, too. But @aztecskinmentioned it in his podcast…the problem is that EM becomes the OC and forgets he’s the HC. I’m paraphrasing. I still think it all goes back to the defense. He doesn’t trust, so he presses.3 points
-
But with a better defense, he may not feel like he needs to be that risky. He knew they needed to score often to stand a chance at winning these games.3 points

A new DC isn't going to fix atrocious calls to go for it on 4th down from our own half, onside kicks in the 1st half, not kicking FGs, or horrible play calls.3 points

Has the football program abandoned the winged helmet over the “North Texas” script permanently? Reminds me of when they overdid the “NT” throwback logo2 points
-
I am hoping for a 20 point win on Saturday and a bowl appearance with win for Coach Morris and the seniors.2 points
-
We need to commit to something we can build on for the long haul. Win or lose, the goal should be making our logo and brand recognizable nationwide—not something niche or small-time. I'm not sold on the "North Texas" helmet to be used for this purpose, the wings are more aesthetic, but if we decide to go this route, let's please be consistent.2 points

Conflicted by Wichita State vs Minnesota... I want Minnesota to do well so it looks better for us but we also play Wichita State and them winning is good for the conference.2 points

By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation. Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor-- and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness. Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be-- That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks--for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation--for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war--for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed--for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted--for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us. and also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions-- to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually--to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed--to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord--To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and us--and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best. Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789. Go: Washington Happy Thanksgiving, Mean Green Nation!2 points

I like the “I believe…” chant. If there was about 10 seconds break between the end of play and the DJ or PA announcements, I think the “NORTH”- “TEXAS” chant would start organically.2 points

I've kind of played out the scenario in my mind... Cobbs as HC, Witten as OC/TE coach, Quinn Shanbour as QB coach, Charlie Strong as DC as an experienced DC and former HC to help guide Cobbs. I don't have answers at every coaching position but I think these guys can do we all at coaching and recruiting. I think Strong has enough connections to bring in a good staff on defense. Witten has a son committed to Rice and another son who's the number 2 safety in the 2027 class. Maybe they tag along like the Sanders' did with Deion? Regarding Shanbour, he's the current QB coach at UC Davis and they have the number 3 passing offense in FCS. I'd really like to get him back in Denton.2 points

It all comes down to DC hire. Last time we were considered "good" was 2018 and the defense was ranked 47. Since then it's been 100s+ ranked. Get Carthel, sam Houston st, or la lech dc along with hitting the portal with a purpose to get more D1 talent on defense. We should be good next year. If not, Morris is probably gone.2 points

@Meangreen Fight are you sure budget figures and endowment are interchangeable? Because that is how I think you came up with those figures.2 points

If we lose to Temple, fail to get into a lame Bowl, and have a losing season (5-7) all in the last game.... then the wheels will be officially off and this board will be rabid.2 points

I guess if you donated more to NIL then UNT could've kept him. way to drop the ball, amico.2 points

I’m not sure I like this playoff format in its first year run. The regular season seems mute and bowl games are losing their bite. That might be more portal though. If only 3 SEC teams get in that will be their catalyst to form the upper tier league. It looks like 4 Big 3 SEC 2 ACC 1 G5 1 big 12 and Notre same. That’s not how the powers planned this to work out. It is supposed to be 4 and 4 at the top and 1 from everyone else. No way Tulane gets in though I think they’re better than Boise. The big dogs left out of the party are already tuning out, see LSU and Bama fan. With that said I still want to go bowling. GMG2 points

Just 23 months ago we went toe-to-toe against BSU in the Frisco Bowl. Now they are actually looking at a first round bye in the CFP and we're sitting at #97. Crazy to think about what can happen in such a short amount of time.2 points

His biggest mistake was hiring and retaining the DC. He’s fixing that. The other glaring issue is our lack of a deep threat. Opposing teams drop 8 and attack our screens. I didn’t realize just how much we’d miss Maclin. I think we address both issues in the TP. We need to show up on Saturday, though. A 45-42 game would not be a good look vs Temple. Needs to be 45-10, or better.2 points

He was 44-32 his 2nd stint at North Carolina. That's enough to get you a statue at UNT, so why not bring him in.2 points

Sadly we are likely going to be headed toward another complete roster overhaul regardless of him being here or not.2 points

I was very outspoken by what a bizarre hire this was after firing (deservedly) Seth. It was a step down in almost every way. He did win me over with his words, but his performance has been 2 steps shy of horrible. For the price we paid we could have done a ton better. The AD is the real culprit here for gambling on this hire and staff without doing anything about it2 points

We just beat a Big 10 team on the road. That’s a home run around these parts. And anyone who has spent any time watching the men’s basketball program knows that Ross is a home run hire.2 points

Football season ticket holder here that normally starts going to b-ball games once the calendar flips to the new year & my schedule opens up. But since UNT is a #basketballschool now, starting earlier this year. First off, anyone agree with this assessment? When I go to football games I'm just waiting for the proverbial kick to the nuts in the second half. East Carolina was a perfect microcosm of this. Oh look! We're up 21-0!! What are we going to do to blow it? And sure enough, we do. Over and over again. With basketball, I feel the exact opposite. Whether it's Minnesota, Oregon State, etc, what are we going to do to win it? And more times than not, we do!! Clutch, clutch, clutch. Well done team! I love it. Really liked the game presentation too. The only thing I've noticed is it seems the pep band is getting less "air time" if that makes sense at the expense of giving the hype guy more exposure. Kinda an ass-whip if you ask me. "SOMEBODY MAKE SOME NOOIISE!!!!!", "EVERONE SCREAM HELL YEAH!!!!". We can be loud on our own without being told, thank you very much. It s almost like a warm-up act before he heads down to Dallas for his 2nd job at Baby Dolls. With that solid radio DJ voice he can then bark out "EVERYONE SCREAM HELL YEAH!! AND GIVE IT UP FOR DESTINY ON THE MAIN STAGE!!!!". Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about there. 🤣🤣 Happy Thanksgiving all and Go Mean Green!1 point

The Big 12 is power-in-name-only. Don’t get fooled by being above them. Boise would run that league hard. None of the also rans (anyone besides the B1G, SEC, and ND) are gonna do much in this playoff system. The networks aren’t spending this kind of money to see Boise State play SMU in a title game.1 point

Former HC that has a NC ring, comes to Denton for his twilight years? I’ve seen that before. Hard pass.1 point

I agree the CFP including fewer than 4 SEC and 4 Big10 will cause pause on the future of this process. Elite Conferences with Elite schedules was all about gaining the prize at the end of the season, a CFP ticket. Instead they knocked themselves out with parity, lol! The Big Bowls that feature these Brand CFP-left-behinds like LSU, Bama, OU, Michigan, et al, will feel the effects of the non-CFP team's players opting out of playing in those Bowls like Florida St. last year. The players with NFL potential will opt out to get ready for the draft, and others jilted by their team not making the CFP will Portal out and off those teams. Bowls have been weakened by the Portal and CFP.1 point

Auburn with 2 wins over then-T5 teams, plus #12 UNC. Memphis isn’t ranked but they just beat #2 UCONN. that’s a damn good resume.1 point

I think he was so aggressive because of the bad defense. When he finally kicked FG’s this last game we missed them both! ST has not been great, it I’m not sure why. We have the same coach…1 point

That would simply be a doors effect. People enjoy music and the hype it brings to athletes. I can assure you a player on the floor much rather hear music that will feed their adrenaline than a school chant. That’s an every sport thing.1 point

It’s the Mark Cuban/Mavs’ effect on basketball. Not a fan of it. I don’t mind some music, but not constantly. I enjoy the timeouts to talk about the game to the people next to me.1 point
