Good crowd for a Monday night with students mostly gone for Thanksgiving break. Crowd intensity picked up in the Pit with about 7 minutes to go in the 2nd half and the fans stayed with it till the end and were rewarded with a thrilling win. Fun night at the Pit! To the game itself - We played really hard. Especially defensively. Offensively we were a mess, indecisive at times and pressing needlessly at others. Lots to sharpen up there. Still we managed to drag another team into the muck with us and ended up drowning them with the intensity defensively.14 points

because he's the best shooter on the team. you trust your best players. hopefully that confidence carries forward and he starts to become the consistent scorer we anticipated11 points

It's almost as if the head coach knows more about his player personnel than you do.10 points

I'll tell you what...if Hodge actually drew that up with Atin as the primary to take the last shot, that's some fantastic coaching. I think it's pretty clear that he's been inconsistent, but has the best pedigree of anyone on our roster and is probably going to carry us at times offensively this year. if he misses...eh...it's still tied, maybe you lose a tier 2 game, but you showed faith in him on an off night. if he hits...that could kick-start his UNT career. no idea if all that thought went into it, but as one who's started to have Hodge doubts, imma give him credit here10 points

I personally think that the playing music over the PA at times when the band would typically be playing has negatively impacted the cadence for when and how the band plays during the games. I don't want to be all old man about it, but if I want to listen to the stuff that is played on the PA system (majority of which I actually do like), I have about 10 different devices I can play that on myself. When I go to a college football game, I want to hear the friggin' band play during timeouts and between plays, when appropriate. It's college football, not an NBA game. When I look back at attending games at Fouts as a student in the 90s', I absolutely remember the band playing, and I enjoyed it then just as I do now. If they were playing other music, maybe they were, but I would have no memory of that whatsoever. Additionally, I know there has been some other negative thoughts about the band overall, and not that I have been in band since I played trumpet as a sophomore in high school so I am no expert, but I was absolutely blown away by the halftime performance this week. I know majority of it was a rehash of other bits and pieces that had already been done this year, but damn that was a strong close.8 points

Back and forth game between two good teams. OSU really protects the rim and plays tough defense. When they got set we struggled mightily, but we adjusted by turning up the pressure, got steals and turnovers and pushed the pace in transition. The mark of experience is finding different ways to win and we seem to have it.7 points

2 of 3 I think should be the expectation. UNI is better than last year, but I think we're still a step above and High Point is going to be more of a challenge than most realize, but I still think we're a rung up. Utah State is starting to get Top 25 votes and look like they've got two high-level scorers and a bunch of really good role players...including a 6'11" center who is literally perfect (18-18) from the field this year. if we draw USU and win it'd probably be our best win since Purdue6 points

Awesome win. So happy that we got a win against a 'big name' school at home. It was a really good crowd for the Monday before Thanksgiving just like other people have said. One of my favorite moments: the standing ovation Delo got after he hurdled seats baseline out of bounds. The team has some glaring issues on offense in spacing, shot creation, and lineup combinations. But honestly I'm just so happy right now that screw it. Criticism can wait for another day.6 points

Good game by the Mean Green. With 10 minutes to play, outscored them 21-11 to end the game.6 points

There have been lots of people commenting on the band and PA stepping on each other's toes. It seems like it would be good if they could work something out.6 points

I bet he assembles a team better than anyone who’s ever come prior. With his connections, I also bet he could help set this program up for the long haul. His name alone brings instant credibility. With that said, he’d probably retire than coach in Denton.5 points

high school band director was a mistake. band has regressed. drumline is abysmal, no confidence, no arrogance, no true talent. last 2 years the drumline has been the worst since the 80s. need to drop that best damn band in the land and best drumline in college football....not even close to being true.5 points

We are starting to cut into the deficit created by the first game compared to last year. Now only down 8.72% in terms of average attendance. Last night was the highest game 4 attendance of the last four years, but to be honest, I was a little disappointed it was only 3,292 for a "name" opponent (yes, even during Thanksgiving week). November 25 was our earliest game 4, but a much stronger opponent. The previous 3 years it was 12/4 (LSU Shreveport), 12/3 (Omaha) and 12/2 (Miss Valley State) respectively. I mentioned this during the in-game thread, but the ESPN+ broadcast sounds like the commentators are off site in a soundproof room or something. Not hearing the crowd noise and the excitement in the arena really detracts from the game experience. Need a better audio production. I switched to the radio stream and it was much better from that perspective.5 points

These uniforms would be better if they replaced the script "Mean Green" with a regular block letter "Mean Green." I don't like that script on the football helmets, and don't like it here either.5 points

This team has a lot of potential, but it's still too early to say with any confidence what kind of team we're gonna have come February. Still, it's nice to win a second game like that this season against a power league type school.5 points

This is the double edged sword to playing hard defensively. If you have ever played basketball, playing hard defensively wears you out. I think this contributes to lots of jump shots on the offensive end, but also tired legs.5 points

great comeback for the win against a big name team. All is good and Green with MBB and WBB5 points

lol. I've made the point here numerous times that you don't always need to start your best five players...but damn this box score looks funny UNT Starters - 15 points UNT Bench - 43 points I wonder if even in the TP peak "bench" role we had that kinda discrepancy.5 points

One thing I really hate about the portal.....is that each year we re-load, with a bunch of juniors and seniors from other teams. Which is, I guess, the only way to go. But man.....it sure seems like the freshmen don't get much development. Cotton sat out all last year......and is getting token minutes this year. A guy who knows hoops better than anyone......told me that Vice should be getting "heavy minutes." And Tyrann lead all of Dallas in scoring last year. This is a team, that can be offensively-challenged. Not trying to second guess anyone....just saying that I'd like to see these guys get more PT.4 points

One other thing I want to mention, and Ross addressed this on the post game - Props to Oregon State for actually scheduling this game to begin with. So many of their peers are too scared to nut up and play a game like this. It was a really competitive, fun game, with a great atmosphere. Any casuals in the building last night are sure to come back for more. I’m sure the date/time of the game came into play strategically for them accepting it to minimize our potential home-court advantage, but thankfully our fanbase showed pretty well and the HC advantage was in full force. Hope I have the opportunity to go out for the return game next season.4 points

1. Anyone. There is a tryout. 2. No. It is provided by the school. The summer uniform/clothes under the uniform are paid for by the students. 3. Both. Most play on their own instrument. Marching instruments such as the sousaphones, marching baritones, mellophones and drumline are provided by the school. 4. Both. To my understanding. 5. 1 credit 😡 6. Most GB members make up the pep groups but that’s not always the case. *This might be outdated info. Sorry if anyone has other intel.4 points

13-0 run late in the 2nd half when OSU had a chance to blow it open. That’s not bad. Free throw shooting scares me as it seems to every year.4 points

With all the uncertainty regarding college athletics now is not the time to abandon ship. Who knows what the sport will look like in 5-10 years. UNT has more resources at its disposal than the vast majority of G5 programs. No way is now the time the throw in the towel.4 points

IIRC, his grandfather got sick. We released him of his commitment to allow him to play closer to home. We did him and his family a solid.4 points
