  1. His record at Incarnate Word: 6-5, 5-7, 3-3, 10-3. Other than the last season with wins over powerhouses of Prairie View A&M, Texas State (when they sucked), McNeese State, Northwestern State, Nicholls (twice), Houston Baptist (twice), Southeastern Louisiana and SFA, he was a below .500 coach. Why anyone cared or thought this was something special is beyond me.

  2. He was UIW for 4 seasons and barely had a winning record. He was a .500 coach until his final season there. Zero indication he could replicate the success once Cam Ward moved on. Can we stop pretending Morris was a great FCS coach?

  3. I was very outspoken by what a bizarre hire this was after firing (deservedly) Seth. It was a step down in almost every way. He did win me over with his words, but his performance has been 2 steps shy of horrible. For the price we paid we could have done a ton better. The AD is the real culprit here for gambling on this hire and staff without doing anything about it

  4. No, most people are happier when the product they support with time, energy, and (most importantly) money has some ROI. Tell ya what, name for me another thing you’d invest those three things in with no expectation of a pay off prior to year three…especially when those year three expectations are based on the biggest of “maybes”

  7. One thing I really hate about the portal.....is that each year we re-load, with a bunch of juniors and seniors from other teams. Which is, I guess, the only way to go. But man.....it sure seems like the freshmen don't get much development. Cotton sat out all last year......and is getting token minutes this year. A guy who knows hoops better than anyone......told me that Vice should be getting "heavy minutes." And Tyrann lead all of Dallas in scoring last year. This is a team, that can be offensively-challenged. Not trying to second guess anyone....just saying that I'd like to see these guys get more PT.

  8. This is an honest question from a guy who isn’t paid big bucks to coach football but does coach other sports that require true tactics to be successful with a mixed match team. So if you know you have a bad defense, wouldnt it be tactically sound to do whatever you can to make sure your defense is off the field as much as possible? Wouldn’t it behoove you to not play hurry up ball and instead eat up as much clock as possible with each drive you have? Am I the only one that thinks we have a HC that enjoys shooting himself on the foot with these tactics?

  9. Seems since DT put the "For Sale" sign out his performance level went down.....pre-mature gloat?

  10. UNT has only done worse since firing Seth.. Didn't we actually play in a conference championship? You can't even get the slightest scent of that from the current HC. Maybe a 3rd year miracle will occur...

  11. I wrote this a week or two ago but didn’t post, it’s pretty harrowing. Wins and end of season rankings for Morris. It’s the same as Seths record beat g up on Rice, UTEP, MTSU & FIU and losing every big game. 2023 3-9 Louisiana tech (131) 5-6 FVS ACU 3-9 temple (126) 4-8 Tulsa (125) 4-8 UAB (110) 0-4(5) vs winning teams, cal went 6-7 2024 4-5 USA (74) 6-4 FCS SFA 2-8 Wyoming (125) 3-7 Tulsa (123) 2-7 FAU (128) Game remains vs 3-7 Temple (127) and 6-4 ECU (loss now) (96) *USA is now 6-5 so technically so he does have one win over a team ending the season over .500 as of now. My math may be off but we are 1-9 vs. teams who end season above .500 HELL NO I DONT SUPPORT THIS BS. We all saw this coming when they didn’t try to sign new portal players for the front six. Just dumb as hell, I am as out as out can be on this university and Morris.

  12. This isn’t Incarnate Word. This isn’t D-2. Wins matter and we’re not winning. Each year we keep falling behind, we keep wasting NIL money and investors in this product. If this was a business, would there be people lining up to invest in this product and whomever is running it? Hard decisions have to be made. Unfortunately, we don’t have the leadership with the capacity to make hard decisions.

  13. We just beat a Big 10 team on the road. That’s a home run around these parts. And anyone who has spent any time watching the men’s basketball program knows that Ross is a home run hire.

  14. Let's see if @Cougar King shows up here after our ladies completely dismantle Houston in their own house. Mean Green win 69-53. Light the tower green. I loved when Van Chancellor said he would give the Top Dawg belt to Wooten and the hustle belt to Deck of North Texas and he would give the hustle belt for Houston to their player Love, but you don't give a belt to losers. Hahaha.

  15. They hired Moseley. And I understand that to a degree....we were in a bind when Wren left us mid-season. But they never provide any oversight. When Jared offered EM a 5 year deal.....where were they? Nowhere to be found. As I'm sure most don't give a flip about UNT Athletics.

  18. I totally understand the frustration ( no one is as frustrated as the next true UNT alumni/Fan.) The roster has been rebuilt, the reality is you don't win a lot of games when relying on Freshman - Sophomores to be the main contributors. The jump from HS to College is vast and takes time to adjust to typically. I would say if we are experiencing the same issues in year 3 then its time to hit the panic button. We have shown to have the capability to play with the top of the top in our league. Yes we crapped the bed at some point, yes it absolutely needs to get fixed. If you fire Morris now, you're going to be dealing with the same stuff next 2 maybe 3 years as a roster gets totally rebuilt. The portal will decimate a roster in HC Turmoil. I believe some of the hoarding that the big boys do of the good OL/DL will slow when they limit roster sizes FWIW so guys we're losing out on may be forced to fall to us due to numbers.

  20. What a roller coaster of a season for the ladies. Struggle through an absolutely loaded nonconference season. The tough schedule looks like it's worth it by winning your first three, and five of your first seven in the AAC. Then lose seven straight, including two to Memphis, one to UAB, and Temple. Then randomly beat two of the best teams in the conference the last weekend of the regular season to clinch a top 8 seed. As said in another thread, haven't heard good things about Porter from player parents. But to be fair, it's probably not easy attracting the top talent in Texas to play D1 ball in a church gym. My opinion: move the team to the Super Pit. Get your sponsors to pay for their own tarps to cover up the upper levels. The environment won't be the same initially but I can bet you it'll be easier to get more than a "friends and family" crowd, and I'll also bet you most on-campus students couldn't tell you where the volleyball team currently plays.

  23. Not sure everyone is understanding of college football landscape. Miami paid a transfer DL $250,000 AND THE DUDE DOESN'T PLAY, He is a back up (insurance policy if you will.) I totally understand on not wanting to throw money at players but the reality is if you can pay, kids will join. If not, you're relying on finding kids who don't care about money (GOOD LUCK) and just want to compete and win football games. On our current roster 4 players from Littrell era contributed to wins this season. Jordan Brown, Damon Ward, Jett Duncan, and Rod Brown. We played 10 games with a very sub par DC. We did not pursue the portal near hard enough to help fill holes in the defensive scheme. IMO at our level we should be a 4 down front with the ability to hop in and out of 3 down when needed in favorable down and distances. 46 players on the current roster are Jr or Sr. The vast majority of this roster are So, RS Fr, and the biggest group being true Freshman. You don't win a bunch of games at any level with a bunch of true freshman. The fact we've been in them to compete has been a miracle (No I am not happy we aren't pulling them out or winning.) The young and transfer talent they have brought in is encouraging to me personally. Should we play better, should we be making more plays, ABSOLUTELY. However, coach can't catch the ball for guys, coach can't catch wide open TD's for guys. Coach can't magically make a walk on WR/ ST guy into a bonafide D1 RB. Our scholarship RB's have been banged up like crazy and we have relied on a walk on, and 2 True Freshman RB. I think we go to Temple, play very well and get into a bowl game and then its on. Coach lost our most productive OL in pregame to a freak injury...... PREGAME. Sometimes the ball doesn't bounce your way. Is he perfect? no, but to call for the staff and his job is silly in year 2. The guy did a total rebuild last year and had us IN games with a completely rebuilt roster. He needs to make the right DC hire in the offseason. My pick is La Tech current DC. We will see what happens.

  26. This fanbase is such a joke. After the mass player exodus, basically everyone on this site predicted 5-7 wins and despite being on track to finish on that mark, many fans are screaming to fire everyone. And to seriously be rooting for this team to lose against Temple and miss a bowl is 100% loser garbage. GTFO with that crap. We’re all disappointed with the lack of progress this year but to want to pull the plug and go through another mass exodus with another new coaching staff with zero time to recruit is all but guaranteeing another frustrating season. You have to give Morris another year to get a new defensive staff in place to fix the defense. The schedule is favorable next year and our best chance at success is with Morris. If he can’t win in year 3 with a favorable schedule, then sure, call for his firing. But to do it now would be dumb AF.

  30. I know this isn't the most important topic, but I was curious as to what others thought. I live across the country so I can't attend games unfortunately, but from watching it on TV is it just me or has the band declined in quality in the last few years? When the camera shows them they look undisciplined/inattentive, some are just wandering around chatting. I see other bands together and ready to play as soon as a play is over. The size seems to have ballooned and now sprawls across 2 sections of the stands, and despite that they sound worse. The director also doesn't seem to know that the purpose of the band is to hype up the team/crowd, and put pressure on the opposing team on 3rd downs. Play something intimidating on 3rd down! When they do play it seems like they just have a bank of songs they go through in order without considering the situation on the field. The selection of music is bad, and it doesn't seem like they have any variety of songs to connect with the crowd, many bands will play classic and modern hits to get the crowd into things. Like I said I don't know if this is true or not since I can only judge on what I see on broadcasts, what's the in-game experience like?

  32. If he can finish the season with 2 wins: I think it is a successful year and gives momentum for the future. Beat Temple then lose a bowl game: that is pretty Old Denton. And just like, how things go around here. Lose to Temple: I’m very discouraged, but still gonna cheer for him because we don’t have the money to fire him. And life is too short to hate the things you love when you can’t do anything to change it.

  36. I agree, although it seemed we slowed it down a bit yesterday. That third touchdown drive that lasted 13 plays and 6:59 without a fourth down conversion needed may have been our best drive all season.

  38. Do I want him to turn it around and be successful? Well a successful EM means a successful NT, so yes. Do I think he can turn it around, hell no. Do I think he has the the coaching ability and intellect to turn it around, also no.

  39. I have been rooting against him all along because I didn’t think he would be an improvement over Littrell. If we had hired a smash mouth defense-first coach I may have felt differently. We just hired a less experienced version of what we already had.

  42. Yeah the classic Air Raid was about scoring more and zagging when everyone else was zigging. Now that teams are ready for spread, up-tempo, etc, there is a ton of value in controlling the clock. I don't think that necessarily means doing an Army and running it every play but I do think that keeping the defense off balance includes slowing it down and maybe doing a huddle. I don't know that THIS defense has tired legs. I think they are just small and weak compared to what they need to be. When Morris was talking about "we are not strong enough, not big enough" he was talking about the defense (and a little bit of the offensive line). It is absolutely imperative that we get three or four very good defensive lineman for next year or it will be more of the same.

  45. If we can't fire Morris because we negotiated a horrible contract, then how about firing Mosley who created this mess? It's hard for people to recognize and admit they made a mistake and do what's necessary to clean it up. They usually hold on too long and hope that their guy can turn things around and prove all the nay-sayers wrong and waste another year or two. Get rid of the guy that created the mess and let the new guy clean it up since they have no skin in the previous decision.

  46. This world does not exist anymore. It used to, but not in the portal and NIL age of college football. If players cared about coaching staff stability they would not be transferring at the rate they are. If this thinking permeates our AD, then they need to look for a new line of work because that ship sailed. Seriously, how many 17-18 years olds sit down and review the contracts of the coaches to decide which offer to take? High school recruiting should be de-emphasized. It can't go away completely, but building a program through the high school ranks over multiple years no longer works. When recruiting high school players, I think the only "stability" play is academic stability. There are a lot of players that have the skill and ability to play D1 football, but won't make it to the next level. Hopefully they are smart enough to realize that. Sell them (and their parents!) on playing a sport they love and getting a solid education and degree while they do. That's why it's important to continue to improve the academic status of UNT. We're not going to be a Stanford, but improving 4-year graduation rates and tighter admission standards will help.
