He shouldn't get fired anytime soon. This is just his 2nd year. We should, in my opinion, give him at least 3 years.6 points

Why do you feel the need to always post crap like this that doesn't even apply to us?6 points

ECU didn’t play well against a very below average Tulsa last week for a win. I specifically watched that game because I love bad football and I am a glutton for punishment. Hence I am a NT football fan. I think this will be the first game the offense and the defense play well and the Mean Green blow out ECU for any easy win. my 2 cents 🙈…5 points

It's just sad that's what college football has come to. 50 years from now, people will be reminiscing about how great college football was in the 2010's, when athletes played for the love of the game and would stay at one school their entire careers.5 points

Maybe if you bring a big enough one.....the team could keep it, and use it as a tackling dummy.4 points

you're right. I'll take my perverse joy in SMU making the College Football Playoff and watching the melt-down and rationalizing that ensues.4 points

Nah. Let’s go ahead and win both of these. We’ll have plenty more new iterations of inane arguments to get into as the season progresses.4 points

I’ve only seen this 1 post on Facebook about doing a teddy bear toss at halftime. The department has done an awful job of trying to communicate this and it could be a really cool annual thing. if you haven’t seen this done before, just search “teddy bear toss” on YouTube and you’ll see the potential this has if communicated properly.3 points

I don't think it's fair to say he's done nothing with it. We had a really good recruiting class and the next one looks decent too and we've recruited DFW better than under Littrell. Also, the offense is much better than the last couple of years of Seth's tenure. Edit: Hey eyeball roller, suck my taint.3 points

right? this isn't a House Ethics Committee voting whether or not to release a torrid report on an AG nom. (let's see if THAT motivates the mods 😅)3 points

Oh duh. And the Emilio Estevez puts the PF Fliers on a Golden Retriever and the Georgia Peaches win the league, right?3 points

Maybe they could place it on the line of scrimmage and use it for a defense.3 points

Our tailgate is bringing teddy bears for the toss. Thanks @Ian Campbell for the heads up. Do you have to bring them in via a clear plastic purse? GMG3 points

How much of this is actually on UMASS? I don't get the impression she was pinning the blame specifically on the school, just pointing out the disparity.3 points

In 50 years we'll be watching robotic players play football because the public has deemed the sport is too dangerous for humans.3 points

He had a 2 years left in a 5 year contract worth a minimum of $4M to him and Mrs. Brown. "In 2023, Brown was the 6th highest paid state employee, making $831,065." I wonder how much they contributed to the Football's NIL collective? https://www.recorder.com/UMass-fires-head-football-coach-Don-Brown-after-nearly-3-seasons-with-the-Minutemen-580483443 points

for there being so many "I do my own research" crowd here, y'all are really terrible at doing your own research. - McNeese was 30-3 last season - they won at Michigan and blew out AAC conference champion UAB in Birmingham - they were a 12 seed in the NCAAs...just like AAC conference champion UAB - they haven't lost a home game since February of '23 we lost to a good team in their building...a game with an even slightly better first half we have a great chance of winning. McNeese is currently a comparable program...they'd be very competitive as constructed in the AAC...and your either antiquated and/or football-centric perception of "conference superiority" really has no baring on an intelligent conversation about college basketball. had we lost a close game to Minnesota there would've been a lot more "eh, it's tough to win on the road at a Big 10 school"...when in fact Minnesota looks very mid and is picked to finish dead last in conference...and this McNeese team would beat them 8 of 10 times. I really kinda perversely now can't wait to beat Oregon State and lose to High Point and get to play out this inane argument all over again3 points

DENTON, Texas – Mean Green student-athletes recorded their ninth consecutive year with a Graduation Success Rate (GSR) above 82 or better with an 84 for the 2016-17 cohort, the NCAA announced Wednesday. Out of UNT’s 12 sport programs, 10 recorded impressive rates above 82. Seven programs improved or maintained their scores from the previous year including football, women’s basketball, soccer, softball, women’s tennis, women’s track and field/cross country along with swim and dive. Women’s basketball tied the program record with a 95. Additionally, football set a new program milestone with an 87. Women’s tennis maintained a perfect 100 for a record ninth year in a row. From the time GSR data collection began with the 1995-98 cohort, UNT has improved from a score of 59 to 84 (25-point increase). The GSR was developed by the NCAA as part of its academic reform initiative to more accurately measure the academic success of Division I student-athletes by better accounting for the many different academic paths followed by today's college students. The NCAA also released the most recent federal graduation rate data in conjunction with the GSR information. The GSR holds institutions accountable for transfer students, whereas the federal graduation rate does not. The GSR also accounts for mid-year enrollees. The NCAA calculates the federal graduation rate for student-athletes because it is the only rate by which to compare student-athletes to the general student body.2 points

Rice has received multiple 5-win bowl bErths that way.2 points

Does anyone else think he's playing hurt? Hasn't been the same QB after taking that crushing hit on his shoulder against Tulane. He hasn't been throwing the 15 yard out routes to DT and others. That may be why we are seeing all of these screens and short passes. We really don't have a backup so he may be trying to gut it out. Morris would never say anything about it to the press. Just something to think about.2 points

Doesn't help that the defense always spots our opponents 2 TDs to start every game and he feels like he has to make up for that.2 points

Hope it was just an off game, but it looked like we had less turnovers than normal. But we need to be more reliable shooting from outside. I think the final margin was 9-2 in triples, NWST over us. Big opportunity to knock out UH in Houston Sunday.2 points

I'd say a coach's wife complaining publicly about NIL disparity is relevant to any G5 prpgram, even if her argument isn't in this case.2 points
-
Honestly a bad take by her. They beat zero FBS schools this year and only played Liberty and Miami (OH) close. How much of that NIL disparity is inflated by playing Missouri, Mississippi State, and Liberty? Does it also include Georgia this upcoming game? What's the excuse for double digit losses to Eastern Michigan, Toledo, Buffalo, and Northern Illinois? What's the excuse for beating FCS Central Connecticut by 4? Again, poor take.2 points

I think this group of seniors deserve to go out with a win in their last home game and expect the rest of the players will be motivated to make that happen.2 points

In Seth’s first year, we only had 5 wins. As there were not enough 6 win teams, we were selected to go to a bowl game because we were the highest ranked GSR team in the nation with only 5 wins. I’d rather “Hit 6” but I like this way of filling the bowl brackets.2 points

+1. Or when we actually start winning bowl games. Some of y'all would be loving the Frisco bowl if we were winning big and attendance was filling it up. There's a bit of a chicken-egg argument here when it comes to winning and attendance. Just f'n go. I'm giving you 'til the count of 10 to get y'r ugly, yellow, no-good keester to the games.2 points

Pretty much what the two comments above are saying: It’s a strong possibility that he’s got a case of hero ball. “I need to play amazing for us to win” mentality. Mistakes avalanche and instead of relaxing, you tighten up and are harder on yourself. Obviously that’s total conjecture based on my personal experience in sports. We all know he’s great and wants to win. Could totally be a nagging injury too, who knows. Hope he sticks around for another season with an experienced OL and a more consistent D. That’d be a treat to watch.2 points

He probably has some chronic soreness like all starters do after 3/4’s of a season. I think his drop off has more to do with a decimated running game (Porter is stepping up but would never play if the others were healthy), constant restructuring of the offensive line due to injuries, and some questionable play calling by the coach. I think he is pushing too much.2 points
