  1. Don't get to far ahead of our self we will have to #hit6 first. I would act like this bowl is bad. if your team was better we would be in a better bowl. like I said before, I do not care which bowl, just win.

  2. I don’t mind a local bowl game that is inexpensive to attend in person. Now, if we were having a 9 or 10-win season and really deserved something better that would be different. But it is not. Frisco is fine for this season.

  3. I think what Odom was running at USC was a 3-3-5 that had a “RUSH” position serving as a hybrid DE/LB lined up on the line of scrimmage, so really only 2 second level linebackers, making it similar to a 4-2-5 in effect. Different from Caponi’s 3-3-5 stack. Maybe someone like Chavez Brown could play that type of role but not exactly a lot of time to implement that level of scheme change. https://usctrojans.com/sports/2022/8/31/2022-usc-trojans-football-roster-depth-chart

  4. It's just sad that's what college football has come to. 50 years from now, people will be reminiscing about how great college football was in the 2010's, when athletes played for the love of the game and would stay at one school their entire careers.

  5. So where are you guys predicted to go? Home?

  6. for there being so many "I do my own research" crowd here, y'all are really terrible at doing your own research. - McNeese was 30-3 last season - they won at Michigan and blew out AAC conference champion UAB in Birmingham - they were a 12 seed in the NCAAs...just like AAC conference champion UAB - they haven't lost a home game since February of '23 we lost to a good team in their building...a game with an even slightly better first half we have a great chance of winning. McNeese is currently a comparable program...they'd be very competitive as constructed in the AAC...and your either antiquated and/or football-centric perception of "conference superiority" really has no baring on an intelligent conversation about college basketball. had we lost a close game to Minnesota there would've been a lot more "eh, it's tough to win on the road at a Big 10 school"...when in fact Minnesota looks very mid and is picked to finish dead last in conference...and this McNeese team would beat them 8 of 10 times. I really kinda perversely now can't wait to beat Oregon State and lose to High Point and get to play out this inane argument all over again

  8. Hate to break it to you, but this isn’t the only time the defense has given up a huge play the past two years. It’s more of a common occurrence.

  9. I just see no way we win this game. No ECU is not a good team but they seem to be better since firing their coach, and we are in the process of tanking as a program. Beating Temple is going to be our last hope for a bowl game.

  10. Yeah…I’ve seen us in a few different bowl predictions. Not sure it means too much as of right now. Us and UTSA still need one more win.

  11. Construction is finished inside. You can jog laps around the whole concourse to help burn off the calories from the poor quality bad chicken tenders. During preseason games they had all the concessions open and even a full bar concession near the NT Blvd side baseline. To be honest they probably popped all the popcorn during the first game a few weeks ago and will slowly serve it to all of us suckers the rest of the season. And the best food they had, the jambalaya, hasn't been seen in probably 4 seasons. But it's only a 2hr game. Stick a QT taquito in your coat pocket and bring it along if you want "gourmet" concession food. Also, I don't live in Denton and I make pretty much every home basketball game, even during the week. When my office was in Plano you could leave at 6pm and be parked by 6:50. I now leave downtown Dallas, pickup the wife in Plano and head to Denton and still make 7p. And I usually just walk out to the parking garage at 5pm to accomplish all that. If you're looking for better excuses just say the Super Pit seats are uncomfortable.

  12. Hit 6 seemed pretty trivial 4 games ago. Now, I’m a little worried. Maybe a lot worried.

  13. We can complain about the Frisco Bowl when we actually fill it. Embarrassing that we couldn’t even sell that tiny stadium out.

  14. I disagree. I saw a team quit on the DC, but not necessarily the HC. I feel like that's what prompted Morris to go ahead and pull the trigger. This is all speculation on my part based on what I was seeing. That last long run that UTSA made was not because they blew open a hole for the runner. It was a defense that quit. I feel they will be rejuvenated Saturday albeit in front of a small crowd.

  16. UNT ATHLETICS: Wilson and Jane Jones Donate $1 Million to Athletics Center Expansion Project Wilson Jones is 1985 UNT graduate DENTON, Texas – Wilson and Jane Jones have donated $1 million to UNT Athletics’ on-going fundraising efforts toward the Athletics Center expansion project, Vice President and Director of Athletics Jared Mosley announced Tuesday. This $1 million gift helped kick start UNT Athletics' fundraising campaign for the Athletics Center Expansion, which aims to enhance the student-athlete experience through a focus on holistic development both in the classroom and in competition. The expansion will provide state-of-the-art facilities designed to support student-athletes' physical, mental, and academic growth. "I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Wilson and Jane Jones for their continued support of UNT,” Mosley said. “Their belief in the power of sports as a transformational tool has made an incredible impact on our student-athletes. “Through their generosity, they will help us Build Champions and Prepare Leaders long into the future. Their commitment to our mission inspires us every day, and we are proud to have them as partners in this journey. Thank you for believing in our vision and for making a lasting difference in the lives of our student-athletes." The Jones’ gift is the 11th of $1 million or more in UNT Athletics history. Wilson Jones is a 1985 UNT graduate. The family previously donated $5 million to UNT in 2022 to create The Wilson Jones Career Center in the G. Brint Ryan College of Business. He retired as CEO of Oshkosh Corporation in 2021. Jones led the company to a No. 8 ranking on Barron’s 100 Most Sustainable Companies list, a Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award for being one of the best places to work, recognition as a Military Friendly Employer by Victory Media and one of Ethisphere Institute’s World’s Most Ethical Companies, as well as a spot as one of The Wall Street Journal's “Best Managed Companies” from 2017 to 2019. “As a proud graduate of UNT, I have seen firsthand the power of higher education and the role athletics plays in shaping the lives and futures of young leaders,” Jones said. “Jane and I are excited to contribute and support the Athletics Center Expansion campaign. UNT had a profound impact on helping me reach my full potential, and we hope this Athletics Center Expansion project will help student-athletes reach theirs.” Jones was named one of the top CEOs of 2018 and was honored with the UNT Distinguished Alumni Award and inducted into the G. Brint Ryan College of Business Hall of Fame in 2021. The Athletics Center expansion will be completed in two phases with phase one focusing on space for strength and conditioning. The remodel will expand that area of emphasis from its current 6,180 square feet to more than 20,000 – more than three times its original size. 17. Working in the medical field has caused me to frequently misspell “bowel” and “bowl”. Normally I catch it, but not today. 💩

  18. Actually, I absolutely hope we lose if it means we avoid a bowel game. That could get messy really quick and I think attendance would be terrible.

  21. Actually I saw UNT vs Texas State predicted in New Mexico Bowl. If we are 6&6 its probable Frisco. If 7&5 we might have another choice.

  22. He probably has some chronic soreness like all starters do after 3/4’s of a season. I think his drop off has more to do with a decimated running game (Porter is stepping up but would never play if the others were healthy), constant restructuring of the offensive line due to injuries, and some questionable play calling by the coach. I think he is pushing too much.

  24. I promise you, when not if Eric gets his walking papers, I can promise you that he will bitch about the lack of NIL monies he received compared to the other AAC schools. Fired UMass Football Coach’s Wife Blasts School Over NIL Money A couple days after his firing, Brown's wife, Deborah, took to social media to air some complaints about her husband's departure from the program. Specifically, Deborah raised the issue of the lack of NIL funding UMass receives. "The combination of NIL money of the teams UMass played this season is a combined $48,798,653 million dollars to our $36,000. And we played how many teams so close?!" wrote Deborah on X. And I can promise you homeboy Craponi is already saying it! Link: https://www.si.com/college-football/fired-umass-football-coach-s-wife-blasts-school-over-nil-money

  25. In Seth’s first year, we only had 5 wins. As there were not enough 6 win teams, we were selected to go to a bowl game because we were the highest ranked GSR team in the nation with only 5 wins. I’d rather “Hit 6” but I like this way of filling the bowl brackets.

  29. +1. Or when we actually start winning bowl games. Some of y'all would be loving the Frisco bowl if we were winning big and attendance was filling it up. There's a bit of a chicken-egg argument here when it comes to winning and attendance. Just f'n go. I'm giving you 'til the count of 10 to get y'r ugly, yellow, no-good keester to the games.

  30. Fair point and the UTSA loss was also unacceptable. That’s true. What’s also true is 2-3 more wins is an improvement for any program. What would be awful though is if we drew Tx State in a bowl and lost.

  31. I know the second half of this year has been really disappointing but dang- we shouldn’t hope for losing to avoid a bowel game. Before the start of the season everyone would’ve been happy with more W’s. It shows improvement. It shows we’re building something and gives the coaches evidence for when they talk to recruits. Win out and win whatever bowl game, 8-5 might convince some transfers/recruits that could really help turn this team into something next year.

  32. All I know is they need to find a way to get pressure on the QB and help with the run. So many plays this year where the 3 down linemen are hung out to dry on a pass without blitz assist or anything. All that coming after being exhausted from trying to stop the run on multiple plays beforehand. I’d be a mix between overjoyed/angry if they fully make this switch and our defense starts playing consistently well. Can’t crucify him for every poor decision but that would be a glaring one on EM’s record moving forward.

  33. 12 starters on both offense and defense. That's some 3-D chess right there

  34. Thanks. I’m curious to see if we see any changes. Morris said today was a good on good day…I’m assuming starters vs starters. Perhaps to implement a new wrinkle on defense? Guess we’ll find out soon enough.

  35. WHAT?!?! This can't be. You're not allowed to fire a bad coach in his second season of a 5 year contract! He needs time.

  36. McNeese goes of to the USVI for Paradise Jam this weekend...first game against Illinois State (should be a win...currently a 3:1 favorite)...would set up a potential 2nd round match-up with UAB or Longwood, both tourney teams last year. KState, George Washington, Louisiana and Liberty round out the field. some decent teams, but no world beaters. winnable tournament for McNeese.

  39. All I know is with all these AAC coaches being fired, we better be dipping our toes into recruiting some of their players. Could be a lot of movement going on…possibly inter conference even.
