It was Hayden Fry who came in and set about to change the culture of the athletic department. Toward that end he took the nickname that was being used for the defense and made it the nickname for the whole team. He then changed the shade of green that the teams wore, and he had someone create a very unique Logo for the Helmet. Which happened to be a "stylized Eagle".....aka the "flying worm". The Eagle is our mascot, and Mean Green is our nickname. Thank you Sydney Sue Graham. And thank you Hayden Fry.3 points

I thought he looked confident in his minutes vs Wayland. Very athletic, defended well, made a basket and two free throws. Didn't he redshirt with Creighton last year? He only played in an exhibition with them but no minutes in a season game. I think they transfer to get more playing time. I doubt he wants to sit another year. I'm afraid he'll be gone again. 6-10 and athletic needs more minutes with us!!3 points

Almost tripled the viewership of our previous game. I'm sure it had nothing to do with Army's significantly larger fanbase.3 points

I really enjoy these BTG clips of our players. In a small way I get to know them as a person first, then as a player. And to hear them speak about their commitment to our university is the ultimate bonus. Thank you, Mr. Brown.3 points

figure one main thread to keep track of how our opponents are faring. the AAC is off to a pretty strong start...overall record of 29-7. plus currently Oregon State, High Point and Utah State / St. Bonaventure are all 3-0 - Memphis (2-0) with two quality wins v. Mizzou and UNLV. they should be undefeated (though San Francisco isn't a gimmie) heading into a 11/25 game with UCONN. - UAB (2-1)...I thought their loss to Vermont wouldn't look too bad, but UV has two pretty ugly losses now. really intriguing game tomorrow 11/15 v. High Point - FAU (2-1) look tough...their loss was by 6 to UCF who already beat then 13th A&M. - the other undefeated teams, ECU (3-0), Temple (3-0), Tulane (3-0), Tulsa (3-0), Wichita St. (2-0) collectively really haven't played much of a schedule...best win is probably WSU over WKU...but they've made pretty light work of what's in front of them. Games of interest over the next week or so: 11/14 - Northern Iowa @ Wichita State 11/15 - UAB @ HighPoint ; Temple @ Boston College ; FAU v. Charlston and Liberty (11/16) 11/21 - Memphis @ San Francisco ; FAU v. Oklahoma State (3 day tourney...would play Miami or Drake next)2 points

Is anyone planning - or thinking about - a road trip to Lake Charles? I realized today I'll be there Monday the 18th - making a casino trip Sunday thru Tuesday for my wife's birthday, so why not go?! I checked out the McNeese web site - tickets are only $10 or $15, and parking is free. I'd drop a lot more than that in a casino over two hours 🤑. https://mcneesesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule https://mcneesesports.com/sports/2023/10/3/basketball-ticket-info.aspx - go to "Single Game Ticket Pricing" https://mcneesesports.com/sports/2024/1/4/basketball-parking-map.aspx2 points

We have lost 4 of the last 5 against this program, 5-7 overall. UTSA has been playing FBS football since 2012. Since 2013, we have been in a conference with them. Through last season, they are 72-65. They've won 2 conference titles and have gone 1-4 in bowl games, while also being ranked. They've had three coaches. In the same category above, we are 63-71. No conference championships and have gone 1-6 in bowl games. We have had 4 head coaches. If we lose to them tonight, Morris will basically tell us that he just isn't going to be able to lift this program higher than it was when he took it over. UTSA in 2024 is not good. They're 4-5, with wins over Kennesaw State, Houston Christian, FAU, and (somehow) Memphis. Not counting having to sacrifice themselves to UT-Daddy, they've lost 4 games against peer programs, Texas State, ECU, Rice, and Tulsa. Maybe I'm wrong, but we should beat these guys, even on the road at a place that has been a house of horrors for us, if we have the right coach leading us. This is one of those games that will tell us in our hearts if we have someone worth a damn as the head coach or if he's no different than everyone else we always hire here.2 points

It's weird because if they were to go up against someone like Virginia (basically the Mean Green, but in the ACC), they'd say "Oh, that's what Virginia does...". Make no mistake, I like flying under the radar and reading those reactions from other fans. Brings a smile to my face. I hope our guys do too. But man, the data is right there!2 points

Watched the game on Youtube last night. Couple of thoughts/observations. 1. What is the purpose of the raised court? I think Vandy has one as well. Seems like it poses an injury threat to the players. 2. Man, we missed a lot of open shots. 3. Our defense completely took them out of their game. If we can play that D and find our offense, then this team will be tough to beat. 4. Big 10 refs suck. 5. I know many on here are critical of him, but Sissoko's growth has been fun to watch. 6. Thank goodness we have Walker. What a leader and calming presence for our team. Love his game.2 points

Great look. Can’t decide how much I like the helmet. I definitely don’t dislike it, but I don’t think I love it. I’ll decide after seeing it tonight. Green and white = no complaints2 points

Nice find on the Cochran player. I'd go with Massie at the 4 based on the small sample size. I don't like playing two non-shooting bigs together. Lorient has definitely out played Newell so far. So, it's understandable if Hodge goes the two bigs route he would choose Lorient.2 points

I've still got a group of 3 in 137 four rows up and 4 in 136 about 20 rows up tonight. Message me if you could use them!2 points

He played against Wayland Baptist for 9 minutes late in the game and as I remember he had two quick fouls. Maybe you saw something that I didn't see, but it seemed to me he was a "Not Ready for Prime Time Player."2 points

Felt like a road split from the Minnesota/McNeese swing would be a success. Glad we clinched that, but feels like the team is more than capable of 2-0 there.2 points

I was a teacher at The Colony back then. Bam Harmon signed with Rhode Island, Matt Sayman went to Baylor had a good career there despite the Dave Bliss scandal. Also had a player that went to Illinois St. Chris Bosh played at Lincoln during the same time frame.2 points

I talked to a girl in the Mean Green Brigade. The team is flying and the band is bussing. Downright shame she isn’t going. Reduced band size.1 point

I don't think Floyd's in-bounds pass to set up the poster is getting enough love. It was PERFECT. A lot could have gone wrong with it.1 point

Hell yeah! We tried to give it away with that free throw shooting there at the end, but loved the Minnesota announcers talking about our defensive intensity the entire game!! let’s go boys!!!1 point

I watched a little of their game against Alabama last night. Very athletic team that was really always in the game. They were down by 11 at half, but outscored Bama by 3 in the second half to only lose by eight to the #2 team in the country.1 point

I’m surprised there hasn’t been much talk on here about this play. Not sure how many of you watched the game on TV, but I did. Watching the replay, I have no idea how the review refs could not see the ball break the plane before his knee went down. It looked pretty clear to me. A 10-7 lead there would have made a huge difference in the game. I know we all felt extremely confident in our offense scoring there (2nd & goal from the 1/4-yd line), but it didn’t happen, for whatever reasons. Massive miss there. Also the INT that was overturned by replay… another miss (**EDIT** not an INT, it was the fumble. I got legitimate turnovers conflated!), even though we wound up forcing the punt. All that said, the game was decided on the 2 INTs Morris threw in the end zone. He simply can’t throw those.1 point

From my view of the second INT in the North end zone, it appeared there were two receivers running towards the left sideline. Morris threw to the trailing receiver. The receiver closer to the sideline was (wide?) open. GMG1 point

Stix, I wish I still lived in SE Texas. I’d join you for some UNT basketball and gambling. I was less than an hour from Lake Charles.1 point
