  1. A real cliffhanger of a game.

  2. This has never been my experience. When I arrived at 12:30 last Saturday there was no problem finding parking. I don't think I have ever arrived at a well-attended football game later than an hour and thirty minutes before a game.

  5. The difference is we don't have an elite basketball conference to boost rankings/net like those teams do. Outside of Memphis who else is really notable in our conference?

  6. Ever seen the parking around UT, A&M or OU? That's right, there isn't any. If you are going to a Cowboys' game and leave home an hour prior to game time, then good luck.

  7. another chance for a signature win or at least close game against Top 25 and in typical UNT fashion, s**t the bed and then excuse makers come out trying to find a moral victory.

  8. Boring, a bunch of softball questions...not a whole lot on football honestly or digging into the Army game. Didn't really seem too upset going 0-3 for the last three games. Brett never disappoints pushing his 10 year crusade of the "premier rivalry" that is North Texas vs. UTSA. EM hit the over on sips from the water bottle.

  9. I assume @NM Green believes we will win at least one of the next three, become bowl eligible and therefore have 4 more games.

  10. You might want to take a look when you're talking about our opponent. They're on a pretty good upswing of playing ball. For all those that thought this was going to be an easy game might be time to rethink.

  12. I guess we all get spoiled by convenience from lowly attended games and when we get a highly attended game we start to piss and moan about lines being too long. You ever been to a big time game at a big time university? Shit takes a while so just deal with it.

  14. What do you expect them to do if every spot is claimed, either by donors or sales? They can’t make the passes get used, but can you imagine if they oversold that lot and people with valid passes showed up with no spot to park in?

  15. Anybody the tries to arrive at a football game an hour before kickoff, especially one where the crowd is expected to be bigger, is an unaware fan and will certainly experience delays. UNT draws more than they used to. I go to college games all over the country, and UNT is not different. The aware fan will arrive a couple of hours prior to kickoff for the better parking spots and ease of getting in. Those who wait until later and try to squeeze in just prior to kickoff get what they will get….delays. It doesn’t matter what stadium you go to.

  16. Come watch the Mean Green play from directly across the street from the UNT Frisco Campus at Wings Over Frisco Bar & Grill. Pick up some Mean Green swag and sign up for the half time drawing to possibly win UNT prizes. The game video and audio will be broadcast throughout the restaurant. $4 draft beer for anyone in UNT attire! #GoMeanGreen #UNTAlumni

  18. The 2-0 ladies deserve a game thread. After taking care of business against two D1 opponents this week, they travel to Eugene to play an Oregon Ducks team in what should be a winnable game. The Lady Ducks are 2-0 after wins over California Baptist and Nevada, but are coming off a season in which they finished last in the Pac-12 at 11-21, 2-16 and lost in the conference tournament to Colorado, 79-30. After SFA transfer Kyla Deck led the way against Alcorn State with 27 points, the ladies used a much more balanced effort yesterday to beat Texas Southern. Four were in double figures: Moore with 20, Wooten with 16, Hardaway with 15, and Lampkin with 11. The ladies play at a fast pace but still are too sloppy with the ball from what I picked up yesterday. This will be a great opportunity for a win against a power conference opponent.

  25. Just a bad day that snowballed on them. They need those early games to gel when you are working in new players, etc. It is what it is. Learn from it, grow from it and move on.

  26. So, what would have happened if we played Oregon State the first game of the year? Same result. They are just on another level than we are talent wise.

  27. Correct. It's just hard to simulate going against Top 25 in practice. They will be a better team for seeing the difference in person.

  32. I suppose the reversed fumble didn't wind up hurting us since we sacked them on the next play....but that review and reversal was even worse to me. That crew very much reminded me of the TU crews in Austin. Now, if Army runs the table and lands a playoff spot, the extra payout to the conference will help soften the blow.

  34. Help me out fellas: Before there was the Loophole, there was a great restaurant in that space. Great for dates, for celebrations and parents coming in to see how their money was being spent. Great bar, long, shotgun style building that had this second level of dining space atop a wide staircase. The flavored ice tea was awesome too. Other than that, The Tomato (I was still living in Denton in its heyday but it wasn't yet here while I was a student}, Texas Pickup with W Prairie Street Pub for post-meal American Shuffleboard and Jims Diner. Clarifications: Was Zeke's a fish place like the Fort Worth shop? Denton Co Independent Hamburger: I thought Mike Barnett is Dave's brother. Mike also owns a good BBQ place in Justin and is opening another restaurant in Argyle soon. GMG

  35. I get where you're coming from about the defense and it's not totally unreasonable. Army just kept converting 3rd and 4th downs. It felt like they would just fall forward and get 4 yards at times. But as you mentioned the defense did some really good things. To add to that: we kept them below their season average in yards per carry, yards per play, scoring % per drive (only 33%), and doubled up their turnovers. It was a noteworthy performance. We just don't have the personnel to match straight up against a good running team like them and consistently win 1 on 1 -- much less impose our will. Maybe next season. We could've been more aggressive and pressed closer to the LOS with our safeties, more blitzes, etc. Then one missed tackle or gap assignment and they're doing push ups in the south end zone.

  36. We knew this 3-game stretch of Memphis, Tulane and Army would be tough. We lost by 8, 8 and 11 points. We are another year away (with better players and coaches).

  40. I won't lean either way on this one. Agree the defense played a hell of a game. I don't think EM would have tried the onside kick after the FG if he knew the defense would play as it did. If I was told we would give up 14 points to ARMY, I would have metaphorically bet the house we win. But had we shortened a drive or two more giving us the ball one or two more times, maybe we have enough to win. Offense had few penalties this game it seemed. I guess that happens when you only have the ball 15 minutes. You could argue not scoring 7 points on the opening drive, plus an apparent bad call on the goal line in the 2Q, lost the game. That the offense got as close as it did against the 28th ranked pass defense, the 3rd ranked run defense, the 1st ranked scoring defense that’s only giving up 11.25 ppg, and the 5th ranked defense overall is a tribute to both the offense and the defense. We had our shots and blew most of them. GMG

  41. One average fan's story: On Thursday, I talked my cousin and her husband into coming to the ARMY game. They came to games regularly for a couple of years when their daughter was accepted to NT and she was planning to attend, but with daughter deciding not to go to college (not a bad decision these days), they now come to our annual BBQ game only. They are fantastic cooks and always bring excellent food for our tailgate when they attend. I recommended they order their parking pass online ASAP when they made their Thursday commitment to attend. I got a call from them at 1:00 pm. They had been trying to park for about an hour. While not handicapped, they do have some struggles walking. They got to the Blue lot and were turned away because the lot was sold out. As for every game the Blue lot is "sold out," there were at least 100 spots unused for this game. Interesting that the Blue lot attendants were not even able to take cash or card for this game because they were not going to sell a single space after the sell out was declared. They got to the Orange lot, paid to get in and then realized they had no way to get the food and ice chest to our tailgate, which was close to a mile away from where we tailgate at the south end of the blue lot. We discussed options, including driving back to the blue lot using the Bonnie Brae entrance so the we could all come over to get their food and then go back to the orange lot but agreed the game would be started by the time they got back to the tailgate. They gave up, drove back to McKinney and had a good dinner with the food they had prepared for our tailgate. By they way, they acknowledged it was their fault for not ordering the Blue lot ticket Thursday. But most importantly at least in theory, NT policy lost at least $3000 in parking lot revenue and all the money some fans might have spent had they come to the game. GMG

  42. Maybe not, but has the product unt been putting out worth the extra hassle of parking and getting through the gate to the average fan? To me, the average fan will say no thanks and find something else to do in Dfw. Unt football is in entertainment business and there is a lot of competition in Dfw. No one has to like the comment but it is true.

  44. I think the timing of your arrival is an issue as well, but the main problem is that Denton should have redone Bonnie Brae when DATCU was being built. Can you imagine Arlington waiting to redo the roads around Jerry World or the Rangers’ Barn ten years after those facilities opened. I think the parking plan we have in place is adequate provided the infrastructure they have to work with.
