I’m not going to storm the field on Army. That’s how Houston caught flack when they booed Navy. The service academies play for more. They are not the team you want to showboat on.4 points

As I already pointed out, Army has a bye between North Texas and Notre Dame. You don't even know what his injury is, so thinking that rain increases the chance of making it worse is a leap. Regardless, if he's healthy, he'll play. Army controls its own destiny in the conference, so why in the world would we choose to put anything other than the best available players on the field for a conference game? MAYBE if it wasn't a conference game he'd be a healthy scratch. But that kind of decision doesn't sound at all like the Coach Monken I've seen & heard for the past decade.4 points

Saturday we host Army, who is an undefeated top 20 team. I don't remember us hosting a team ranked this highly before, the weather is predicted to be sunny in low 70's, and we have no reason other than apathy not to fill the stadium.3 points

Predict if Team did not work on tackling during the bye week, then Army may run roughshod over the team. Starting QB or Back-up will not matter3 points

ARMY/NAVY is my favorite non-NT game of the year. Every year. Glad it remains the last regular season game of the year. GMG3 points

Oh, LOL, first I've ever heard that a bye week might make the game before the bye a trap game.3 points

Yeah, and it’s a damn shame because the election stuff doesn’t even start to get interesting until after the game will be over.3 points

Well yeah. They're AIR Force Academy, not GROUND Force Academy....3 points

College Football Rankings 2024 - CBS Sports Rankings - CBSSports.com #5 Indiana - Shocking how that coach from James Madison has turned that program around #11 - SMU - Geez #18 Army - What a victory this would be! #65 - UNT2 points

Sounds like a player that you could build your program around.2 points

Since the current coaching regime has been in place (start of last season) North Texas is 0-8 against FBS opponents that finished the regular season .500 or better last season or currently are .500 or better. The average score has been 48-30. If I were to calculate the average deficit at the end of the first half in such games, my head would explode. Suffice it to say, there just is no evidence to suggest we have a chance to win. Army - as many points as they need to score to win comfortably and feel good about themselves NT - around 302 points

I actually expect our defense to put up a better fight than they did against Memphis and Tulane. Army is much more one dimensional, and have less speed and size. Not saying we shut them down, but I think we can hold them to around 30. Prediction: North Texas- 34 Army- 312 points

This is what’s been happening. It’s very frustrating. Running through the ball carrier and/or wrapping up the ball carrier seem basic, but have not been happening. We also have times where the players seem to shy away from the ball carrier. Got fix it.2 points

If you can win 7 straight games in 7 straight days, you deserve to be in the Tournament.2 points

Good program as always, but one complaint. I am so tired of listening to who may leave as the majority of the content of programs like yours. NIL is here and it is destroying college sports, almost any fan is aware of that. Now, we spent more time discussing who is going to leave for a bigger payday than we do talking about the past game, next game and rest of the season.2 points

I agree 100% but they run the ball and our defense doesn't have an answer for that apparently.2 points

I would not putting them not playing him since they have to play Notre Dame next week. Especially if it rains they don't want to risk injuring him worse. Go Green, win one for the Gipper. If we happen to beat them and then beat UTSA, East Carolina, and Temple to be 9-3 it should increase our chances of a decent bowl game.2 points

I don’t see us storming the field, but a last second score to win would be fun and might just do it. I still remember the 2001 storming after the MTSU win. It’s memorable.2 points

I can only assume that our history of attendance pushed UNT to the top.2 points

Storming the field with 900 students won’t have quite the impact you are hoping for.2 points

Special arrangement, I believe that was part of the agreement for Army joining the AAC. They don’t play each other until after the conference championship game.2 points

We need to stack the box and play man coverage on the back end. I got it that they can throw better than in the past, but they are still primarily a running team and our DBs should be able to hold up in man coverage against their receivers. Should being the key word.2 points

Army’s good, but not great. For those who complain that we haven’t beaten a team with a winning record, check out Army’s schedule. We’d be undefeated and either ranked or receiving votes with their schedule. I think they’ll be the 4th best team we’ve played this year.2 points

Just noticed the line on the Army game on Saturday is Army -3 and 1/2. That seems to tell you they are giving us a little respect. Everyone here states Vegas knows pretty good on lines. Anyone have any thoughts on this.1 point
-
honestly not sure that helps the #1/2 seed as they are being iced for 5+ days, while a #8-14 seed can get hot be have 4-5 games under their belt1 point

May be a dumb, out of touch question, but with NIL, etc., is recruiting at the Junior College level a thing of the past? Over the years UNT brought in some really good JC players out of Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, etc. Big, quality linemen, linebackers, etc. Do we, or should we still recruit at the JC level?1 point

If he is able to play he will.If he is and they don't its because Army thinks they don't need him to beat us, which they do.1 point

ARMY 43 (If Daily plays) UNT 38 Unfortunately. Triple option offense terrifies me against our defense.1 point

Man, losing a playoff game by 3 when you passed on two field goal opportunities is brutal but I understand it's also what got them there. There's a time and place for being aggressive but close games where every point matters just isn't it in my opinion. Reminds me of last year's game vs Navy where we went for it at 4th and goal from the 2 instead of kicking the field goal only to lose by 3. Also brutal.1 point

And just like that, Rice took down Navy 24-10. With our defense, we would have had to score 50 to win this game.1 point

So, if Rice can hold on for the win, Tulane and Army beat Navy, We win out, UTSA pulls the upset on Army, and Tulane beats Memphis, could we still play in the conference championship? That's a lot of hoping and wishing but it is possible right?1 point

That's pretty good company to be amongst. I will be there Monday night to see what this 2024-2025 version of Mean Green WBB looks like.1 point
