UTSA is not great and Memphis' offense is not great. It is just our defense is so bad. With an average defense, we would have beaten Memphis easily. Even Charlotte was holding down Tulane's offense until they tired because their offense is so bad. We may not have the worst defense in the country (close though), but we do have the worst defense in the conference.5 points

This may be hard to stomach but Memphis only put up 10 more yards of offense against us compared to versus UTSA. Memphis laid an egg after a hot start vs UTSA. They did the same against us. The difference is UTSA scored 20 straight during Memphis' scoreless stretch. We scored 3. There's your ball game.3 points

Here comes San Antonio. Let’s do our part and beat down Army next week. Set up a war between North and South on national tv in less than 2 weeks. A season ripe with continued opportunities. GMG3 points

And let's not forget that Wren left the DFW metroplex to live in West Virginia. Not sure why you would intentionally do that to yourself.3 points

Shhh, if they didn’t make AT LEAST the Sweet 16 last year they are NOT worthy to step on the hallowed Super Pit floor3 points

His talent isn’t being wasted. It’s being maximized. If he and the offense aren’t balling out we’d be out of every game. We’re not 8-0, but can’t say his talent is being wasted. That’s just a bit too far down the negativity branch for me.3 points

Another season is upon us. How does Year 2 under Hodge go? Do we compete for the league title this season? Will the newcomers and vets mesh well? Evansville used to have pretty decent teams, though they've had a rough six or seven years. The MVC is a really strong league though, so that explains some of it. Also, nowadays with all the player turnover, it almost doesn't even make sense to look at previous seasons. Hopefully "election watching" won't keep too many people away from going.2 points

10 more yards…and SIXTEEN more points…but don’t let facts get in the way of this continued ridiculous narrative that our offense is the issue. UTSA put up 44 against Memphis. We put up…wait for it…44. But UTSA’s defense gave up 35 points…we surrendered FIFTY TWO. THAT is “your ballgame.”2 points

41-24 UTSA with 6:53 left in the game. 27 unanswered points. Even in a down year, it appears UTSA and Coach Traylor will get their signature win vs 7-1 Memphis.2 points

We could easily be 7-1 and in the top of the conference with just an average defense. He and the program would be more in the National spotlight then. It is a wasted opportunity for all up to this point because of the defense.2 points

Have you watched an Army game this year? They can pass the ball just as well as run it.2 points

Army actually does not run the triple option anymore. The closest they will come is the midline. It is harder to run the midline against a nose, but it still can be done. If you remember the old single wing, most of their schemes would more closely resemble that. As far as inside veer and outside veer, you won't see that. I expect a lot of the attack will be in forcing our secondary to support and tackle. We all saw how that worked out vs Tulane. I hope for better, but I don't expect it. And this Army team can throw.2 points

Sooooo Tulane had 14 offensive possessions and 472 yards of offense against us. Against Charlotte? 431 yards on 8 offensive possessions. They scored on all but 2 possessions against Charlotte, one of which was a missed 34 yard field goal. They did whatever they wanted against Charlotte's defense and took their sweet time while doing it. If needed or if the pace called for it, Tulane could have put up any amount of yards and points necessary against Charlotte. People keep laughing at me for putting some blame on the offense and special teams but the reality is, you can't give the ball back every 2 minutes. Maybe it's great when you score but when you don't it spells disaster. You also can't turnover the ball 3 times on your side of the 50 and twice with 30 yards which is basically the red zone. These up tempo offenses have almost never worked on a consistent basis because it constantly puts stress on your defense. Every 2 minutes they're back on the field. No defense is going to survive through that.2 points

Got to be disciplined against that option. LB gets the dive back, DE gets the QB and CB takes the pitch man. At least that's how we did it 40 years ago.2 points

Not winning big time games perpetuates apathy across all generations of North Texas alumni. Did they win the game? No…and for a lot of people they’re not going to bother because they already know the outcome.2 points

Do you guys remember people saying we drew poorly in CUSA because we were playing WKU, MTSU, or Marshall? If we were playing Memphis, Tulane, or USF they said we would get a boost in attendance. Funny how you don't see that anymore.2 points

Sorry to see that he may be in trouble bow at WVU. A lot saying he should have moved on Neal Brown sooner but as we know that is not his easy going style. Keep him and his family in your prayers.1 point

It was paid, that is $500,000, although we delayed it until it was absolutely necessary. UPDATE: Grant McCasland has now paid his buyout to Arkansas State - RedWolfReport: Arkansas State Red Wolves Football & Basketball Recruiting1 point

And it still works. I saw a team last week that ran a few QB running plays that looked exactly like the old " single wing."1 point

So you’re saying if Texas Tech had beaten us by a field goal that the general public wouldn’t view us more favorably? And I don’t know the attendance for the Wyoming game, but I bet it would have been much higher if the Tech game had been close.1 point

Isn't that the exact amount we paid to buy McCasland out of his contract at Arkansas State?1 point

I understand that, but I’d rather give up 45 and lose by 8 than give up 34 and lose by 31. I know I’m in the minority though. I also understand that you guys want to keep our offense and just have Charlotte’s defense (in this example), but that’s not the way it works. Also, our special teams that gave Tulane the ball inside the 25 didn’t help either. So I guess we probably should wish we had Charlotte’s special teams as well.1 point

Agree that NIL is not the total key to football success. Florida State is 1-7, Stanford and Kansas 2-6, Purdue 1-6, Miss State 1-7. Those schools have NIL, large NIL. Other factors could be affecting their records. Coaching, injuries, hard schedules, etc? NIL is not a guarantee of wins.1 point

Tulane beats us by 8 and Charlotte by 31 and the takeaway is that Charlotte has a better defense than us?1 point

He is amazing at finding a receiver and delivering it on target while running for his life. This is a kind of talent we haven’t had much. I wish he didn’t have to run for his life so much.1 point

That’s incredible. I was concerned for Chandler’s health this year, but I think he’s been tough, at least from what I’ve seen. I worried about his throwing arm this past weekend but again, he came back strong. Congratulations and best wishes to Chandler Morris and the Mean Green.1 point
