I trust Ross to find good transfers like he did last season. If the secret scrimmage results were accurate that was a good sign. Last season we got into some injury situations I hope we avoid this year. I'm anxious to see the new roster play together....it's like Christmas.... see what we got!6 points

There are so many more students now excited to attend NT than back in our days. And as someone said, any large school has a bunch of weirdos. It works the other way also, so there are bunch of sports fans also. Certainly enough to fill the student section. Certainly enough to fill the rest of the stadium once they are alumni. What’s the common factor that keeps that from happening? 40 years of failure.5 points

You should add a question that says "The defense will give up a touchdown this weekend"4 points

Another season is upon us. How does Year 2 under Hodge go? Do we compete for the league title this season? Will the newcomers and vets mesh well? Evansville used to have pretty decent teams, though they've had a rough six or seven years. The MVC is a really strong league though, so that explains some of it. Also, nowadays with all the player turnover, it almost doesn't even make sense to look at previous seasons. Hopefully "election watching" won't keep too many people away from going.3 points

I went in thinking we could match-up well. I did not realize they were just a bigger, better team. They are. however, what I saw was a team that did not give up….there is no quit in this team. In past seasons, our teams would quit getting down early. We were in this game at the end….which is what you want to be. That gives me hope and encouragement. Tere are a lot on this board that hate on this team…I don’t get it…but be who you are. Not a problem this team does not quit, and for that, I am proud to support them. We will win more games this year than the majority predicted. We were picked 6th I believe. looking forward to the Army game. Come on out and support the team.2 points

Perhaps we should offer a free beer to everyone who wears their "I Voted" sticker to the game. Do you think that would increase attendance?2 points

Isn't that the exact amount we paid to buy McCasland out of his contract at Arkansas State?2 points

Should ask "How many fewer alcoholic drinks will have this weekend not watching the defense play?"2 points

I promise I’ll be at every home game, but this might be the worst non-conference schedule I’ve seen. Oregon State ? They went 13-19 (?) last season.2 points

When you get past the contracts for the conference champions, I think it could come into play. ESPN has a history of moving some things around to get their favorite matchups. So, it can help if we want to be in the best position possible.2 points

Tulane beats us by 8 and Charlotte by 31 and the takeaway is that Charlotte has a better defense than us?2 points

Another example where the mods don't care as much about North Texas football as they do about clicks2 points

I didn't like my FIRST school. At all (well except from my seats on the 45-yard line at Texas Memorial Stadium in the Fall of my Freshman and Sophomore years, and during college baseball season year one). When I transferred to North Texas, I decided to love where I was. Everything about it. It is still my school, my team. And I haven't watched an entire UT game since. They are the Dallas Cowboys to me. They spend a lot of money, buy a lot of stuff and men, and very rarely do their fans get their money's worth. My team does, but then again it is a lot cheaper to be a devout and passionate fan at North Texas than it is to be a fan at UT. Still, I know a lot of folks give less treasure than I to their team and don't feel they get their money's worth. God blessed me with North Texas, knowing my cheap ass can't afford to be a UT fan. Flame on. GMG2 points

I would like to see two seasons as well but also want to point out that he already holds some impressive records. Most career 400-yard passing games (4) and most consecutive 300-yard passing games (5).2 points

And the side story, Cobbs, being unselfish, coached Jamario up while injured and he's right back on the sideline still doing that.2 points

If only you were allowed to run other defensive formations where, when you face a larger opponent, you did not have to line up three down linemen against their five (sarcasm attended).2 points

If I could, I would certainly have to give this thread a "vomiting" vote: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/flying-under-the-radar-smus-unparalleled-success-cant-be-ignored-as-mustangs-aim-to-reach-new-heights/1 point

Sorry. I think it’s a bad decision to schedule a game against a presidential election. Judging by early voting turnout, the election may draw more watchers than this first game.1 point

This label that they're doing a poor job simply comes from your expectation that you think it should line up with every one else. I get it. I agree this isn't a good look. I just want to be clear that they aren't breaking any rules, or missing any deadlines.1 point

Yes we will win either 8 or 9 games this year. we will have ,more yards on offense, and ESPN will send us to either New Mexico Bowl, Shreveport, or maybe even Ft.Worth, because with 8 or 9 wins we will get a bigger bowl. Go Green win 9 plus a bowl game.1 point

My guess is this has already been decided but they're still waiting on a game contract to be signed or some technicality.1 point

Y'all out of towners go ahead and schedule a hotel room in Frisco for Dec 17. We got demons to exercise.1 point

Not winning big time games perpetuates apathy across all generations of North Texas alumni. Did they win the game? No…and for a lot of people they’re not going to bother because they already know the outcome.1 point

Even with all that success, there's still plenty of tickets available for the game Saturday.1 point

I might add, this deranged fan is a Syracuse fan, not even a WVU fan. No idea whether or not Wren has anything to worry about, but he certainly does not need to worry about this silly video.1 point
-
Agree. Wren's first rookie mistake at NT as an AD was letting Benford stay for his 5th year as men's basketball coach. He did find a nice replacement after finally firing Benford the next year, but it should have happened sooner. Same for keeping Seth too long. It's like he didn't want to fire anyone under contract. As for Wren leaving NT for WVU, I thought he would move up eventually. But that job location is a difficult place to make fans happy. Don't enter the Portal and take the NIL without considering the warnings!1 point

Not sure why Neal Brown is Wren's fault.....he didn't hire him. But like Jason said....one fan's opinion on "X" doesn't really mean much.1 point

But I thought Texas State was supposed to be the G5's representative in the CFP!!!1 point

If he plays 2 healthy years, he'll be in the top 3 in passing yards and top 5 in passing TDs. Throw in a bowl win and he might get a statue lol1 point

We don't really care for moral victories around here. We've won multiple Moral Victory National Championships. Those are old Denton. The only time I've actually witnessed a team "quit" was the Portland St. game. But I've seen way too many beat downs where the team didn't quit. We're tired of those.1 point

They weren't curb stomped by us, every year. The last time we played down there (Mac's last year)....the game was a nail biter. I think we won by four. I've looked up a lot of mid-major's schedules....especially ones that would make good opponents. And they all have schedules similar to ours. Play some name teams....at tourneys or on the road. And fill your home schedule with 2-3 schools that no one has ever even heard of.1 point

TCU and SMU have no interest playing us. They know we have squads on their level and wont risk the loss.1 point
