Our university has over 46k students. 324k alumni in the DFW metro area, Denton has over 155k people living in the city, the entire Denton County has over 1 million residents, and we can get 130k to watch our Homecoming game against a regional opponent in Tulane on TV at 11:00 in the morning when the other regional CFB option on at the same time were OU and Ole Miss. IOW, no Texas, no Texas A&M, no LSU, no Texas Tech, no TCU, no Baylor, no Oklahoma State, no SMU, and no Arkansas on at the same time... That's apathy...and it's the absolute biggest rival we will always have here.6 points

From Vito.... Morris named to Davey O’Brien list UNT quarterback Chandler Morris was among 35 players named to the Davey O’Brien watch list on Tuesday. The honor goes to the top quarterback in the country each season. The TCU transfer has thrived in his first season with the Mean Green, throwing for 2,873 yards and 26 touchdowns. Morris has thrown for more than 400 yards in three of UNT’s last four games, including 449 in the Mean Green’s loss to Tulane last week. https://dentonrc.com/sports/colleges/mean_green/unt-women-s-basketball-team-to-get-glimpse-of-new-mix-in-exhibition/article_3d4f623e-9655-11ef-b9ea-97860fa7c24b.html4 points

50k jump from the FAU game. Ratings are a joint effort for both fanbases. When you take out their OU and K State games, not like Tulane been killing it either. Not an unique problem to UNT.4 points

Wren was adverse to firing anyone while at UNT, so now he is finding WVU actually wants accountability. Can not always just let contracts run out when firing should have happened4 points

The next installment of the "Battle of the Birds" is just around the corner in two weeks! If you can't take the day off and get down to San Antonio for the game, I definitely encourage you turn the TV on to ESPN2 and help with those ratings! But if you can or are interested in going to the game, please do! First off, if you're local to San Antonio, the alumni chapter is hosting a Thursday night pep rally since the Friday game doesn't really promote tailgating. The pregame event will be on Thursday the 14th from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Dakota East Side Ice House on 433 Hackberry. If you live in the area, join the SA alumni chapter on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/461338011152328 I bought our first 15 group-rated tickets in Sections 136-137 behind our bench. We've got a block developing near the field in Section 137 for our rowdier crew and a block developing higher up in Section 136. These seats are $31 through our group. For comparison, buying through the UNT site will get you in Sections 138-139 in the corner for $37 after fees. Loophole: if you don't care to sit with other UNT fans, but are interested in getting a few bucks off your tickets by buying through our group, here's the kind of rates for the other sections: 134 (50-yard line, lower rows) - $91 133, 135 (lower rows), 134 (upper rows), 233-235 - $64 133, 135 (upper rows), 232, 236 - $49 237-241 - $31 End zone (101-107, 140-144) - $21 Upper level end zone (201-204, 242-244) - $17 Let me know if you're interested in joining my messaging me here, or emailing me at meangreeninfantry@gmail.com. UNT didn't have the money to buy Benford out. If Seth had beaten UTSA the second time that season he could still be here. It's easy to fire someone when you are not the one doing it.3 points
-
Agree. Wren's first rookie mistake at NT as an AD was letting Benford stay for his 5th year as men's basketball coach. He did find a nice replacement after finally firing Benford the next year, but it should have happened sooner. Same for keeping Seth too long. It's like he didn't want to fire anyone under contract. As for Wren leaving NT for WVU, I thought he would move up eventually. But that job location is a difficult place to make fans happy. Don't enter the Portal and take the NIL without considering the warnings!3 points

This isn't about being embarrassed that our schedule isn't done, I don't know how that point came along, but it wasn't from me. It's about a poorly run part of the program, and it should not be acceptable for things to be run this way.2 points

Memphis will fall apart again. Zero discipline or patience on that team and our system just wears them out.2 points

I know everyone keeps saying we need to make our adjustments sooner in the game... but what if we just started the game in the third quarter? we'd probably be undefeated at this point!2 points
-
I'm sorry but this is fire-able to whomever is responsible. What kind of department do you run if you can't manage game scheduling to at least an acceptable time frame, let alone competitive level?2 points
-
I like the idea of traveling to do-able games such as UAB and Charlotte and shuttle would be fun. I wish UGA, Ga Tech, Ga State, or even Kennesaw State would schedule us for basketball. Watch parties would be fun. I'm not too keen on night driving (have to remind myself every now and then I'm 81). Thanks for taking this on!2 points

Tells me we make great halftime adjustments. Need to start out the same. I believe our defense actually gets tighter in the second half. Just can’t get down so far in the 1st.2 points

Our game was the only one in our time slot not to have at least one team from a power conference as competition. The SHSU -FIU game was on Tuesday night without major college football competition.2 points

I might add, this deranged fan is a Syracuse fan, not even a WVU fan. No idea whether or not Wren has anything to worry about, but he certainly does not need to worry about this silly video.2 points

First game is tonight, so yes, I seriously created this thread celebrating the start of the season. This is the best time of the year. One football game a week, couple of basketball games, a soccer game and volleyball. Has nothing to do with the schedule and everything to do with the season.2 points

if he plays 2 seasons and we accomplish something (AAC champ game or bowl victory), then I'm in favor. if not, then i'm not. i need something more than 'threw for a s-ton of yards' to get my vote.2 points

We should keep a graphic showing our players performance here and then their performance when they decided to move on. Some others might reconsider. You can't tell me that if Maclin had stayed and replicated, or closely replicated, last season this year that he would not get drafted. But, considering his total lack of production this year, his pro aspirations are pretty much gone now.2 points

I remember the night game we had at Apogee when Fine was still here and we kicked a field goal with a few seconds left to win I believe 51- 49. I had my seat in section 208 row 2 and a number of Army fans around me were laughing because we were in our end of the field with about a minute tolay and I told them don't be too overconfident that we already beat UTSA like that and they said no way we would drive the field on them. After we scored and won as they were leaving I just looked and shook my head and one of them said. "Well you were correct". Let's do it again. One of these games we will come back at the end to score and win. I feel ESPN knows that also and we're banking on being here when we do. Go Green, beat Army.2 points

Third time's a charm? Our only saving grace is that we're coming off of a bye week and have two full weeks to prepare for their offense. I'm hoping we can somehow scheme and have the defensive game of our lives. With that said, I'll believe it when I see it. I do expect a good crowd as well. Ranked opponent coming to town. National TV. And Army travels well.2 points

Sorry to see that he may be in trouble bow at WVU. A lot saying he should have moved on Neal Brown sooner but as we know that is not his easy going style. Keep him and his family in your prayers.1 point

Chandler Morris is currently ranked FIRST in the country in passing yards! He is over 100 yards ahead of Cam Ward. DT Sheffield is ranked 18th in the country in receiving yards! When was the last time we had the top passing QB in the country this far into the season? Can't remember if Mason Fine was ever ranked first. If we can just keep him healthy the rest of the way, he has a great chance to finish the year number one. None of the teams we have left on the schedule are great defensively and we all know that we have to score a ton of points to make up for the defense. Should be fun to watch.1 point

Ok I know we are looking ahead but below is our home and away 2025 schedule. Home: Lamar,Washington State, South Alabama, Navy, Temple, USF, and UTSA. a very doable 6-1 or a 7-0. Away: Western Michigan, Army,Charlotte, Rice, and UAB. Possible 4- 1 or 5 -0. If we manage to keep our qtr back next year and we improve on Defense maybe 11 -1. Go Green1 point

Maybe I’m missing something. Wouldn’t the roster limit be good for the have-nots as the haves cannot hoard players that will now need to find home on have-nots teams and potentially improve the talent level and competitiveness of the have-nots?1 point

UTSA will probably be 3-6 & the game is on Friday night. High school playoffs will have started by then. Look for a dismal crowd in SA.1 point

I don’t think if he left UNT it would be for OU, he started out at that school. It would be a crazy full circle if he did end up back at OU though. He already has played at TCU and lost his starting role. I believe Chandler stays here especially if he sees Coach Morris pull the trigger on a new DC showing that he wants to win championships.1 point

You think if he would have transferred in one year, played the kind of year he had in 2013, then transferred out, that he still makes the HOF? I guess we'll have to agree to strongly disagree on this one.1 point
-
True, but many times it takes a year to work into a system and they don't have that year as a grad transfer. Why not stay in a system you know and throw up big numbers. If they are good, the NFL will find them but not if they are sitting on a bench. Examples: Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, Larry Allen, Steve McNair, Willie Roaf, Courtland Finnegan, Marques Colston, London Fletcher, Vincent Jackson, Jared Allen, Tony Romo, Joe Flacco, Trey Lance, Jordan Love, Khalil Mack, Byron Leftwich, Ben Roethlisberger, etc...1 point

I dont think C morris will be back for his last year here. Way too much money floating around. I bet the Sooners have already made an offer.1 point

I just want to say that this linear TV exposure provides a huge foundation for us to build on. We need to win these games to make the most of the opportunities.1 point
-
Statistically speaking, Chandler is more accurate on the run outside the pocket than he is in the pocket. They've spoken about it on the broadcast several times.1 point
-
I am guessing the coaching staff has something like this that they use whenever a player discusses transferring. However, I'm sure every player who's going to transfer believes they are the exception.1 point
-
I don't like the transfer portal because it's turned players into mercenaries, and not students at our school (if they never really were, the mirage still appeared that they were). However, I'm not certain that the TP really helps the top P5 ALWAYS and hurts the G5 ALWAYS. In the past, taking on JUCOs was at best a 50/50 proposition and usually a year in your system before you saw positive results. Transfers coming from a P5 to us were usually not guys you could count on (obvious exceptions to this rule - Marcus Trice and a few others). Then the TP opened up and it seems that we're hitting on more transfers than in the old days. I expected us to be terrible this year with 77 new players coming in (see above reasons), but that has not been the case. I think with a smart staff who doesn't rely on word of mouth or film highlights on players, but on their own eyeballs and instincts, the TP can really be a weapon to level the playing field. I can't believe I just typed that....1 point
