It's not a buyout at this point. We either pay him 3 more months while he's here, or we pay him 3 more months and kick him out. It's net zero regardless of choice. The benefit is we now have an open role that people can start being recruited and interviewed for.8 points

Caponi has 3 months left. Is it really that expensive of a "buyout"? Hell, just elevate someone on staff on an interim basis through the end of the year.8 points

This will be three straight games on ESPN2 and five straight on linear television. Let's go and take advantage. I believe attendance will be greater for the Army game already across the board: alumni, students, opposing fans. I know we're pissed about the Tulane game but we've got an extra week to get the sour taste out. Going 2-2 on this Memphis/Tulane/Army/UTSA stretch would still be a lot better than last year's 0for on the Tulane/Memphis/UTSA/SMU gauntlet.5 points

I went in thinking we could match-up well. I did not realize they were just a bigger, better team. They are. however, what I saw was a team that did not give up….there is no quit in this team. In past seasons, our teams would quit getting down early. We were in this game at the end….which is what you want to be. That gives me hope and encouragement. Tere are a lot on this board that hate on this team…I don’t get it…but be who you are. Not a problem this team does not quit, and for that, I am proud to support them. We will win more games this year than the majority predicted. We were picked 6th I believe. looking forward to the Army game. Come on out and support the team.5 points

Call me insensitive, but if we lose a player who is upset because we're changing coaches who are producing the worst defense in the conference, and one of the worst in football, does that tell us a lot about that young man?4 points

I didn’t realize UNT, a program with only 3 winning seasons over the last 19 years, could turn their noses up at a potential 8 win season.4 points

I don’t think we get rocked in a bowl game. We are due and will get a W. Now call me optimistic Oscar but I see us beating Army. We are the best team they will have played in 2024. UTSA I feel is a loss because that coach will get them fired up down south to beat us. We beat East Carolina we beat Temple. We win in Frisco or Albuquerque. I’m okay with this season if it unfolds this way. GMG4 points

If NT could get a win against a team above .500 that might help. Morris, like Seth, is hard headed and it's his way or the highway. If Morris doesn't get rid of Caponi that highway will be the same one Seth took out of Denton.3 points

Your anger is directed at the wrong person. Be mad at Morris for making us hope that we hit 6.3 points

it is truly amazing before the season some were saying we would be lucky to win 6 games, but now even if we lose to Army we should end up no worse than 7-5 or most likely 8-4. I guarantee if most of us knew them we would end up probably winning 8 games we would have been very pleased. we are having to play numerous freshman and are still looking at 8 wins. We ha,ve Had ap lot of injuries especially to r Running backs and receivers. We should beat UTSA, East Carolina and Temple. Give them a chance. The announcers on ESPN 2 was giving us many accolades considering how we were very outmanned size wise. THink about this even being outweighed we wleRe Doing very good in not giving up. I think we were sacked only once when our quarterback was hurt. Think about this and we should also win 8 or 9 games next year also. Go Green.3 points

I can understand recruiting to a defensive system. What I can't understand is not adapting the defensive game plan to the opposition. Zimmer last night had as many as 6 on the D line to stop the run and get to the qb quickly. I have never seen this D before, but it made alot of sense and I give credit to Zim for changing it up. The first half MEMPHIS was gashing us on the right side of the D line. 0 containment. Size probably played a major role as their pulling tight end was killing us. I promise you we will not be playing a 3 man front against Army so why did we play this kind of front against run teams. Why are we not putting in our biggest linebacker and have him run gap blitze every play? Alot of you guys are smarter on this please explain.2 points

Army up to 21 in both polls. Memphis is 25 in one of them. Tulane and Navy both receiving lots of votes.....in one poll our teams are 21, 27, 28 and 29. So it's a pretty good year, so far....for the AAC in football: https://www.espn.com/college-football/rankings2 points

In the Cowboys 49ers game, they mentioned that the judge presiding over the case for which Brandon Aubrey was called for jury duty was a former football player for “North Texas University”. The NBC broadcast team must do marketing work for Eastside on the side.2 points

Short term memory (or is it long term) is challenged these days. When was the last time we won in an upset? Was it against a ranked USTA that everyone wants to discount? What was it before that? I guess we just need to play more bad terms. Do they teach how to tackle in Texas high school football? Seems to be a lost art.2 points

I hope the fans learn that this team doesn’t give up. The fans give up and the stadium clears out. Tying the game in the end of the Tulane game was possible, but not many would have seen it. Reminds me of all the folks that missed The Drive against UTSA.2 points

At least run Brown and Vailea at DT, Shipley and Dawkins at DE, Wesloski, Brown and Smith at LB, Texada and Nelson at CB with Jackso and Hill at safety. You can rotate in Brunson, Charles, Witter, Fann, Brown on the front seven and Starling, Williams and Bryce at corner and Anderson, Williams and Bryce at S. The talent is there to run a traditional 4-3 and get rid of the ridiculousness. Littrell did the same thing and brought in a DC that ran a system he had trouble with and not necessarily other teams. E Morris has said that is the reason he hired Caponi but not many others teams run the system we do. I kept wanting to see someone light up that Tulane RB. Instead, we wrapped him up and let him either drag us 8 yards or he broke free. I want a defense that will light people up.2 points

If the Army defense has terrible pass coverage, then we could end up in another 2007 North Texas/Navy game that ended in Navy winning 74-62. I remember that we won the toss and took the ball first. We immediately scored and then kicked an on-side kick, which we got. We then went up 14-0. I remember turning to the person next to me and saying "Holy S##T Todd Dodge just made a statement about how our defense was going to do tonight". Only they did worse.2 points

Because we keep Caponi we may drive a few of our good/ up and coming players into the portal. This is an example of Morris's inexperience as a HFC....refusing to change.2 points

Our 3 loses YTD are all against better teams. And yes, Army is a better team and will probably beat us as well. There is no shame in losing to teams that are bigger, stronger, and faster that we are. I fully expect us to beat ECU,UTSA, and Temple and finish 8&4, which is not too shabby for a UNT team that was picked 9th in the conference preseason.2 points

The AD, the coaches and the team need to go out to the campus and local community. I don't see them doing anything in Denton or around campus to get people excited and in the seats. Coach Morris just blames the fans for not showing up and telling them to get over themselves because the game was at 11am. That's not how you get butts in seats.2 points

If only you were allowed to run other defensive formations where, when you face a larger opponent, you did not have to line up three down linemen against their five (sarcasm attended).2 points

Well the AD actually went out and tried to sell tickets to Wyoming. They put the work in. Then expected since it was homecoming against a good team, it would just happen. Not how it works around here as of now. I don’t see why they didn’t make “Sellout DATCU” a season long campaign goal rather than a single game.2 points
