I went in thinking we could match-up well. I did not realize they were just a bigger, better team. They are. however, what I saw was a team that did not give up….there is no quit in this team. In past seasons, our teams would quit getting down early. We were in this game at the end….which is what you want to be. That gives me hope and encouragement. Tere are a lot on this board that hate on this team…I don’t get it…but be who you are. Not a problem this team does not quit, and for that, I am proud to support them. We will win more games this year than the majority predicted. We were picked 6th I believe. looking forward to the Army game. Come on out and support the team.12 points

I'm late to the discussion, but my observations are this. We have no running game We are too small and too slow on defense We may be the lowest IQ team in the country and I blame that on E. Morris. We're not good enough on defense to be continually give a good team a short field to work with. Too much pressure on C. Morris to score on every possession. Sometimes you have to take the field goal instead of going for it on 4th and long and come up empty handed over and over. We give up so much and just make it easy on the other team. A team will take on the characteristics of its coach. In this case, dumb. E. Morris, if you don't trust your defense, take it over yourself, fire the DC an put someone else in charge, cause this ain't working.11 points

Homecoming game good crowd, national TV. Again we lay a huge egg when it counts. And now the AD will blame the fans for the loss. And why can’t we ask for some accountability from this football program? They have good facilities the biggest department budget and more staff than at any time in our history. We hear the defense is the problem this season and yet everyone knew the defense was a terrible problem well over a year ago after Morris was embarrassed again in front of a huge home crowd. Yet, we did absolutely nothing innterms pf recruiting good defensive players and Morris left Craponi in charge which was basically the equivalent of treason against UNT athletic s and any hope for a modicum of success.10 points

it is truly amazing before the season some were saying we would be lucky to win 6 games, but now even if we lose to Army we should end up no worse than 7-5 or most likely 8-4. I guarantee if most of us knew them we would end up probably winning 8 games we would have been very pleased. we are having to play numerous freshman and are still looking at 8 wins. We ha,ve Had ap lot of injuries especially to r Running backs and receivers. We should beat UTSA, East Carolina and Temple. Give them a chance. The announcers on ESPN 2 was giving us many accolades considering how we were very outmanned size wise. THink about this even being outweighed we wleRe Doing very good in not giving up. I think we were sacked only once when our quarterback was hurt. Think about this and we should also win 8 or 9 games next year also. Go Green.8 points

I didn’t realize UNT, a program with only 3 winning seasons over the last 19 years, could turn their noses up at a potential 8 win season.6 points

Well the AD actually went out and tried to sell tickets to Wyoming. They put the work in. Then expected since it was homecoming against a good team, it would just happen. Not how it works around here as of now. I don’t see why they didn’t make “Sellout DATCU” a season long campaign goal rather than a single game.6 points

If we could consistently win 8 games a season, I would be real happy with that, no matter who the opponents are.6 points

Better than losses to crappy opponents. But yes, we will probably get smoked in a bowl against a good team.6 points

That is correct. You get butts in seats by winning. Winning a game that means something. Winning a game against a tough opponent in front of the home crowd. That’s not happening very often. We’re in the middle of the DFW metromess with hundreds of other options to do on a Saturday at 11:00, on a Saturday at 2:00 and on a Saturday at 6:30. People want instant gratification and will look elsewhere to find it. No one wants to willingly be let down.5 points

Your anger is directed at the wrong person. Be mad at Morris for making us hope that we hit 6.5 points

This! This! This! I said it last week, but if your defense is a liability, you have to try and help them, not put them in difficult situations. I wish we could put together some time-consuming drives like the 16 play drive in the 4th quarter (when, ironically, we needed to score fast).5 points

We need to find a DC who is experienced and can run the show on that side of the ball. Let Morris continue to focus on the offense but we need someone with experience and then we also need a total organizational effort to improve the recruiting on the defensive side of the ball.5 points

Size of players is too small, poor tackling overall, players out of position for what the offense is doing, and poor defensive scheme overall. Is all that on the coaches or players? Yes to all.5 points
-
Quit focusing on things that don't matter. I don't care if the coaches say "Hit 6" if they can get us 9 wins and a bowl win. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it was just a joke, Francis.5 points

I live in Atlanta and want to start alumni events. We are located close to a lot of our road game opponents (Birmingham, Charlotte, Tampa, Boca Raton, Greenville). ATL is an amazing airport that has flights to every away game. I moved here recently for work and hung out with the South Carolina alumni to just meet people. I would love some advice on how to organize this. Mailing lists, social media, chapter organization, etc. I plan to soft launch some events this spring (basketball watch parties, volunteering, activities), but I am planning a more concrete organization going into Fall 2025. If you live in the area, please reach out!4 points

We were there. We were all there. Joe Greene. Lizzie Greene. The Mean Green. Largest parade in school history. A game that featured two of the top quarterbacks in the nation. And a victory to top it all off. Fly Like An Eagle!4 points

What’s wrong is that around the time of the Wyoming game, even with the Tech embarrassment, people thought “They’re 2-1, maybe the defense just looked bad against a superior Big XII team.” Yesterday you saw the result of people realizing “nope, they genuinely cannot tackle and refuse to alter their scheme against what should be comparable talent” We will not beat Army. And, no, we won’t beat UTSA in their season Super Bowl. A sparse crowd will see us beat East Carolina to get to 6 wins…then people will swear the season was “a success” when we beat a horrible Temple squad…then we’ll all come crashing back down when we get rocked in a bowl game.4 points

He makes about $260k at SFA, $215k less than Caponi. I think the G5 DC spot is more attractive. It would put a bigger spotlight on him. I'd imagine G5 coordinator to G5 HC is more common than D2 HC to G5 HC. It could also get him a spot as a P4 coordinator but he's not making a D2 to P4 jump without first going G5. Just needs to get a foot in the FBS world as a DC to open more doors. Edit to direct the D2 stuff. He's an FCS HC, not D2. I think the point still stands.4 points

My concern is whether the team will still have the heart to win those games. In addition to the injuries.4 points

Watched the game from Section 105. They will almost certainly change the defensive coordinator after the season. That's fine. However, the difference in size, skill, and athleticism was jarring between Tulane's offense and our defense. An upgrade in coaching won't close the gap that much. Need to develop and get better players to be competitive against good offenses. Hope that Jayden Hill and others can come back for Army.4 points

Oh man. Checking scores today saw their score early and was thinking “maybe UTSA is figuring something out.” Had no idea they lost that game until I saw this thread. YIKES4 points

I hope that someday as a program we can get to the point to where we don't try to find relief from our poor performances in other teams failures.4 points

Because if I don't believe, I don't go to games. If I don't go to games, I never come back to UNT or travel for a road game. If I don't interact with the university ever, why should I donate to academic scholarships, buy a UNT polo to wear to work on Fridays, or watch the game at a bar when it's on TV? I sort of care about the football. I really care about the culture and making UNT better overall. They are linked together.4 points

Well…no staff changes are imminent, per that answer. Laying the groundwork that the DC won’t be back another year, though.4 points

A new DC isn't the total answer. Buddy Ryan, in his prime.....would have a tough time having a good D....with this offense that Eric runs. It doesn't value time possession. It doesn't value field position. It believes in way too much gambling. Maybe this is why Air Raid offenses.....tend to never have good defenses. So until you change some of your offensive philosophy.....you're never gonna have a good defense. Because this offense thwarts that.3 points

We didn't have 3 safeties defending at any point. The announcers are idiots. We actually had 3 corners and 1 safety a lot of the time while playing man. Tulane schemed so that our corners had to play run support, and they got run over. We never made any adjustments and just took our butt whippin. We never move the nose off the center. We are very predictable about where we will line up. We line up EXACTLY where we did on the last film. Nothing to adjust. Just run the plays against us like you did in practice. But we never ran 3 safeties.3 points

Another MEAN GREEN lost opportunity. Army will be a long game for the Defense. Would of thought we'd win one of these three. Don't get comfortable with winning in San Antonio. Disappointing....but I once again set myself up.3 points

We're not going to beat Army but if we can keep Morris from getting killed we will win our last three games and go 8-4. After last season, that is progress. Those of you who will cry that we didn't beat a winning team seem to forget that we only won 5 games last year and lost 77 players. We need to make a change at defensive coordinator next year and go after some size on that side of the ball. Not sure what people expected going into this season but I think 8-4 would be a damn good season. Who knows how many of our offensive players will leave in the portal. The playing field isn't level. Just get through the Army game healthy. UTSA is playing better. That will be the most important game of our season.3 points
