  1. Per the AD, be there. If you can't, put it on the TV or phone. Per me, even if you can be there, leave your TV on at home with the game playing so your dog can watch. Can't hurt the ratings and the best friend should get to watch the game. https://www.wfaa.com/article/sports/ncaa/north-texas-football-espn-2-tulane/287-627eee49-9819-473b-8d6b-c471b7908ad8?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2ODhgMsqBYNqalWvWQugJ46yn1JOnDaEnY3IxlfA5lqnYvaA_S7rB5Dco_aem_1yN-WBFD6DqbddN3I-JwbQ

  2. 100% Agree!!! https://footballscoop.com/news/eric-morris-to-north-texas-fans-complaining-about-11-a-m-kick-get-over-yourself Great Quote - "People complaining about 11 o'clock, like, get over yourself. You can go back to the Southland Conference and pick when you want (to play). We don't get to pick it. You're playing, for the third or fourth time this year, a national TV game. Get over yourself, get up a little earlier, come tailgate and have fun, then go home and enjoy those late games on your couch."

  3. Was watching WFAA news at 10 last night and they had a whole segment on Mean Green's game this weekend. They talked about the bonfire and interviewed Morris and he said there was a little more "juice" in practice. I tried to find it on their website, but couldn't. I watch WFAA all the time and I will say they have been talking more about Mean Green in general.

  5. I am more confident than I was at Memphis. We usually do pretty well at home. I think we can win this one

  7. Going for it on 4th down in our own territory is not helping the defense. Putting them in some no win situations several times when could punt and play field position. Not all points are on the defense in my opinion.

  8. Last week was a big stage and we couldn't get it done. I would argue with this being at home and on a bigger ESPN station, this is an even bigger stage. Please!!! Let's win!!!! Defense, eat your Wheaties and drink your red bull and be on point!!

  10. Other teams playing at 11:00a that day: Ohio State Navy and Notre Dane Ole Miss and Oklahoma Now, I am sure someone is about to chime in with “yeah, but those programs are different and can draw crowds at any time of day.” Yes, they are different…because they have fans whose only question is “Is my team playing?” and not the laundry list of asinine questions we keep asking: Is it too hot/cold? Is it within 15 days of a holiday? Is another team that I have no affiliation with playing at the same time? Is the opponent sexy enough (though I claim to be a fan of North Texas, so this is irrelevant)? Is it too late/early/middle of the day? Is the team winning? If so, are they winning by enough points? If so, is the offense “pretty” enough? Am I currently mad at the athletic department/university about something? Is it too far for me to drive? If not, could I just watch on tv? What does my horoscope/tea leaves/position of the moon say?

  15. No, I agree with your thoughts. I was mad going for it from our side of the 50 so early in the game, plus not taking the FG shot. All those misses could have prevented just needing a FG at the end of the game to tie or win instead of a TD + 2 pts.

  16. It is more than just the defensive scheme. I don't think we went out and got the defensive talent we needed to be successful. The tackling is poor and we don't have enough size and strength on the D-line and at LB. Part of that is coaching and part is talent evaluation. I agree that we need a different voice and approach on the defensive side of the ball next year. I fail to see how firing him now would make anything better. Hopefully the young guys will start playing better as they gain experience this year. Again, I think Morris will find a new defensive coordinator next year.

  17. I actually prefer morning games, as i usually don't tailgate. really looking forward to this one. should be a barn burner

  18. I see what you're saying, but obviously that's no thanks to the defense. Call me crazy, but with as strong an offense as we have, we could be ranked if the defense was at least serviceable

  19. I wish it were so cut and dry, but it is not. As awful as that unit is, we are 7-2 in our last 9. Likely headed to a postseason game. I can see a coach being hesitant to pull the trigger on any staff during that kind of run.

  20. No other ESPNU? Let’s see what the ESPN2 crowd ratings look like this week. It should be a good game. Hopefully we get some eyeballs.

  21. Hopefully there will be a decent crowd to motivate the team....our best chance to win one of these three games.

  22. Surprised the majority of people think Morris will have over 50 passes. He's only done that once this year (last week). Recency bias?

  23. i'm not nearly as mad about him as others on the board... but at this point, i don't see any reason why you would bring him back unless they make great strides towards the end of the season. I guess i wouldn't be opposed to him coming back on a very reduced salary, but i highly doubt either party would agree to that

  29. Is it that simple though? Our offense/special teams gave Memphis the ball at our 18. Our defense held them to a field goal attempt which they missed. The next drive we give them the ball at our 42 after a failed 4th down attempt. I've harped on it but 5 straight 3-and-outs is what our defense did. We all love to look at yardage. People have pointed at the defense for allowing 526 yards of offense. Meanwhile we put up 653 yards and scored less. Bad offensive execution in key moments is why. What's also interesting is Memphis put up 659 yards on Navy yet lost while Navy had 566 yards. Similar scores too. Yardage isn't everything. I despised the defense last year and the first few weeks of this year. Recently It's been alright. Tackling in space is still bad and we're not forcing turnovers but it's been better. Just need the HC to not be so damn aggressive on offense all the time and put the defense in better situations.

  30. Yes, there were at least 3 times on Saturday that the defense was put in a bad situation: bad snap on the punt, going for it on -35ish yard line, the onside kick. If my defense is a liability, I would try not to put them in difficult situations.

  31. Just getting on from last saturday to see this. I don't know man... you seem to forget our suckage... we haven't been 5-2 in a long long time. I am happy.

  32. Agree, that's why I was saying there are plenty of good to decent opponents to pick from. Give me Duquesne, George Mason, WKU, Central Mich., Belmont, UNLV, Grand Canyon, etc. Solid mid to upper level teams from mid-major conferences. Just taking a guess, but those teams seem like a solid home and home that should be possible to make.

  33. I think there’s hesitation to jump in due to SL’s early success that plateaued. I think Morris is different. Hopefully the fan base buys in before he leaves for a larger payday. That payday is coming. I just hope we hang on to him for a few more years.

  34. Sure but you don't want to fill your OOC schedule with a handful of teams in the 200-300 level. You're right that there is no excuse for being this close to the start without a schedule ready though. But if it takes up the last second to get App State in Denton rather than Alcorn State, I'm okay with that.

  37. only way Caponi even has a chnace of staying if he switches to more of a 4/3 and manages to hold teams to under 30 pts a game in the last 5 games, to get into the Top 100 defenses.

  38. I will just leave this here. With our offense, we should not be in game situations hoping for a go ahead or tying score on the last possession. Total Team Offense Rank Total Team Defense Rank

  39. Our attendance was bad because the team wasn't good. There is a ZERO percent chance we'd have more fans at the Independence Bowl than Frisco.

  40. Exactly. I bet Florida State has a huge NIL stash, yet they are pitiful. I think we need Fan NIL. $$ to encourage new fans to come to games.

  41. Having gotten on campus in 2005, the run from 05-15 only saw one season I was proud of. That was so miserable. I didn’t get to experience the joys of the years prior and spent a decade in my favorite hobby’s hellhouse. I appreciate Seth for modernizing the program, giving us something to finally cheer about (before, apart from a solid 2013 and a handful of small wins here and there, there wasn’t much) and some hope for a while. So I would definitely say he elevated the program. Not to crazy heights but it was better than how he found it. I think Smatresk and Wren deserve a lot of credit for all of that elevation too.
